Constant battle between viruses and life forms.
Started on day one of life on this little world.
Idea: Time Thai officials has another queue at Thai International airport. One for all Thai's (including gays and ladyboys) entering the country the other marked 'ALL DIRTY FARANGS'. Then the dirty farangs are escorted for whole body fumigation and a conveyor belt into a shower facility. On their forehead afterwards is stamped 'DIRTY FARANGS PROCESSED'. All is then well.

Oh yes....that advice will really fly in Pattaya.
Where do all these idiots come from ? When AIDS first hit the scene here it was the same....avoid foreigners. Then it transpired that the first cases here were among the gay Thais returning here from America.
Oh goody, let's all live a righteous , celibate life and blame farangs for this disease. Of course Thai's can't carry nor propagate this illness. Unless said Thai's they are gay or ladyboys that is. Another gem from nutty Thai officials.

Oh goody - A burden on the tax payer. If you are a tax payer, I have no problem burdening you with my visa costs. It's a lovely thing for you to do . lol

I don't think its changed.
The odd thing is the 180 days are for certain countries only.
My then Thai gf (now wife) used to get 30days, and Philippinas got 14 days.
I once asked the Immigration officer why I got 180 days (Oz pp) and she only 30.
Answer was that they considered 30days enough time to "see" and experience HK.
So my reply to her was "so we westerners are slower lookers needing 180 days?"
No reply.
She also told me that they didn't have a gf Visa and if I wanted her to stay (gf having come numerous times during the year on 30day stamps ) then I needed to marry her.
So I did !
Well the thing is: Does anyone want to travel to Hong Kong and face arbitrary detention by the CCP. Glad I went to HK and China a few years ago. NO MORE until the insanity there ceases. Not holding my breath.

I respectively disagree. Charging reasonable fees for visas helps offset the cost of the Immigration Service. If not for those fees (on non-local arrivals) then our domestic taxes would be higher in one form or another. Certainly the cost of a Thai Visa is competitive with other countries. And many tourists don't need an 'official' visa in the first place.
Good Oh ... Visa fee, arrivals tax, departure tax ..... fee for this and that... Not going to belabor the point BUT it's not the responsibility of tourists, that are going to enrich the country they have chosen to visit, to pay the immigration service of that country. It's just a bit of paper/stamp after all. There are many countries that are sensible and offer free visa on arrival.

Visas are an important security requirement.
Yes, visa's are visa's - it's the forced paying for the privilege of getting a visa, and spending in the host country that gets me. Visa's should be free. OK ??

The fees aren't the problem, it's the paperwork and financial audit that's the problem.
Visa fees (everywhere) are legalised theft. Creeps are financing their losses due to the pandemic on the backs of tourists.

....and there's no cost of living increase or inflation in Thailand?
Of course there is. But Why should the English government finance that, when you have 'chosen' to fly the coop.

Nothing will change. How dare we leave the UK for a happier life in Thailand (or elsewhere). We only exist in the eyes of the UK government if they can still tax us. Nobody stuck in the UK would support an increase for those living overseas.
Well of course people should be free to pursue a happier life elsewhere. But in many pensions there are benefits embedded in the pension payment - to help the said people cope with rising cost of living in their home countries. Such as inflation indexed benefits, power supplements etc. It seems reasonable that people shouldn't receive these same benefits should they decide to relocate elsewhere.

Simply that the Thais CHOOSE to allow the Chinese to buy the property in question, As i said above ALL Sovereign States have that right. the fact that in our view they're giving away the traditional Thailand is irrelevant - it's nothing to do with us whether we like it or not.
And...re-read my post - they are not the freeloaders to whom i referred. These Chinese property buyers are the opposite of Economic migrants - they're investors whom the Thai government chooses to welcome - again nothing to do with us.
Many of the soft touch freeloader that you refer to, are genuine refugees who find themselves and families in a very dangerous life situations in their home countries - through no fault of their own. They are not all losers and many have skills they bring with them. You sound heartless with a 'I'm ok Jack - F the rest' . Your ostrich approach to life is abysmal >>>> Quote:...... 'nothing to do with us' !! Well Hitler had nothing to do with me BUT I hate him and his memory. If you live in Thailand at the moment, and you are OK with a change in the balance of the population to Chinese well 'up to you'. You'd change your mind if 9/10 of your condo building became Chinese.

As a UK resident who visits Thailand when i can, I completely agree with @Mr Meeseeks As much as it galls some people on this forum, Thailand has every right to limit who it allows into their country. ALL Sovereign States have that right.
I just wish the UK would "grow a pair" and refuse entry to anyone without the correct paper work including the freeloaders we constantly let in who only come here because UK is a soft touch!
Economic migrants with useful needed skills - OK. The rest.... F*** 'em!!!
BS... so how does that fit into the perception of Thailand selling off property to the Chinese. What property you may ask. All those new condo's. No they are no free loaders as you suggest, BUT if enough Chinese do this the face of Thailand will change. The new 'Chiland' - the new wave of 'economic refugees'

They have seen the state of Western countries in particular the UK with thousands of refugees arriving in dinghies and quite rightly thought, "we must stop that from happening here".
Thailand's immigration laws are exactly what we should be doing in our home countries before they are overrun and destroyed.
I think your shooting off at the mouth, and tripping over your tongue says something about you and your motives and perceptions. Fact: Thailand is selling off to the Chinese. Who do you think are buying all the condo's ?? Yes, Asians (more specifically Chinese).

However, transferring it to the TM6 immigration form is still not the answer if you want to boost tourism. Travelling to the UK you do not need to complete a UK passenger locator form before you travel, take any COVID-19 tests or quarantine when you arrive in England. This applies whether you're vaccinated or not, which is just as it should be. When Thailand scraps all its bureaucratic COVID-19 rules, I'll consider booking a flight.
Why bother with Thailand and the dim wits that run the place. All these regulations and they are starting to seem a replica of China. Effin' fingerprinting, regulations and still they don't want westerners. Well they can take a hike as far as I'm concerned. Let the Chinese run the joint.

The main drawing card for Thailand is cheap booze and readily available sex.
No idea how anyone could call the food great. It is edible. The only people I know that live on Thai food are skint or too lazy to cook for themselves. My wife brings hoe some occasionally. I try to feed it to my dog
Your wife brings 'hoe' sometimes. Wow your are a lucky fellow. Some bed variety hahahah

Anutin knows that the omicron variant has already spread through the population here, even if the daily government numbers are paltry. While opening up the nightlife venues will undoubtedly contribute to the spread, one has to wonder if it really matters at this point.
Hospitalizations are very low, and most infected people stay home (or just go about their business and spread the virus further). There is really very little the government can do about.
Paul Laew
Anutin knows this is a nice little money spinner to rip off tourists with expensive isolation costs if they are found to be Omicron +ve. Requiring RAT tests on entry to restaurants and bars. It's profitable to keep this madness alive. All these politicians could care less about their people and business owners going bankrupt. They still get a fat salary while their population starve. All in the pretense of saving the masses from the pandemic. Sad!!

Not at all puritanical. What I was trying to say, is that many of the things that make cities tourist draws- NYC, Paris, Rome, etc have more to do with other attractions
Been to both Rome and Paris. Paris: Eiffel tower and couple of cathedrals, Louvre, (dangerous place at night near the can can shows - many hotheads) - plate of chips $20. Rome: - a few statues, Vatican, expensive pizza, expensive everything, plenty of deadbeats and homeless near Termini railway station, hothead Africans trying to flog imitation handbags etc. Quite funny witnessing these aggressive Africans talking in perfect Italians. Once you've been there - meh !! But many return to Thailand for obvious reasons (over and over).

Disagree.
It is not only Thailand, every country has their own rules and regulations.
Inflation has rising prices all over the globe. People have less money to travel.
The pandemic smacks many into reduced salaries or unemployment.
People have found places closer to home and cheaper.
If you are not after cheap sex, what is the point in going to Thailand?
Nicer beaches all over the world, same lower cost destinations, etc.
Disagree with you on some point Bub. Yes, every country has some rules - obviously !! But to have a rapid antigent test before you enter eateries and bars ... and risking a lengthy and expensive stay in a Thai hospital .... Thailand gets 1 st prize in the nitwit stakes. As for inflation all over the world that is BS. Doesn't deserve an example. People having less money to travel ? more BS ... people (that retained their jobs - and most did) have truck loads to spend because they were confined and unable to travel. Also, only a fool would spend thousands for cheap sex and beaches. Every country has sex and beaches. Second on the nitwit list is Bali and Indonesia. This is now a pandemic of money making by all the rip off governments and medical industries etc.

Seriously, It's a huge problem drivers not obeying road rules in ALL SE Asian countries. Vietnam is even worse. Only way is to hit these inconsiderate drivers in the hip pocket severely OR jail time.

And if Omicron gets a grip in Thailand and it will, they will be begging anyone with a heartbeat to visit
Yeah - makes a lot of sense 'let's kill the goose that laid the golden egg'. Nitwits change ideas according to which way the wind is blowing. So they want a better class of tourist ... to do what may I ask ??? In BKK there is one skyscraper being built after another - for what ??, whom ?? Chinese miserly tourists ??

No, I don't think massage or soapy massage leads to anything distasteful such as involving sex. Heaven forbid. It's just a bit of harmless physiotherapy. These ladies and ladyboys are graduates of Physiotherapy. The therapy is just comforting gents with stiff muscles or boners.
