  1. Yeah, more than a few cuties here on Pratumnak Hill as well. Cute as in can be compared to 7-9 on a scale of 10 earthy Texas/Florida/California sunbelt gals. And like those girls, none of them give me the time of day.

    :)

A bottle of Absolut on the table helps!

  2. I think It's fine if they come here for two weeks, have a good time, spend their money and go home. But we shouldn't let them stay on, taking our jobs and women and inflating house prices!

right you are! by the way... how many jobs did you lose because Russians were more qualified and how many houses could you not buy because Russians inflated house prices?

    :whistling:

:) & wink, I don't get emoticons on this laptop!

  3. So how do they get your PIN number from you, by looking over your shoulder? I don't get the 1000 Baht left in the machine scam, so please will you explain. Thanks for the warning.

    Thanks, Rick

Yes, looking over shoulder or hidden camera.

Some machines still print the whole card number on the receipt instead of just the last 4 digits.

The 1000B will be a way to get the punter to show, and lose control of his receipt while counting his cash.

I got the right amount - you can keep the 1000B for your honesty mate.

    Thanks!

  4. We had a MAZUMA unit a year ago. Managed to repair it a few times by replacing extremely poor quality internal wiring and connectors, after insulation and plastic cover melted in a few places.

I looked at later models when it came to replacement time and they looked 'better' quality internally but I'd had enough of MAZUMA. They aren't cheap either!

  5. From Thongkorn Thai Visa

I stopped the video above after about one minute. I saw this scenario played out two or three times a week in Pattaya, I use to sit on the wall at the bottom of soy 8 on beach road, Always the police was involved , the boat was never examined by the police, also i saw the police return to the crime area ,to collect the evidence in the form of baht. After the Tourist had left the scene of the crime . Welcome to the Land of smiles. In the end i felt intimidated because i was sat on the wall when so many times the scam was played out , i had to find some where else sit because i was getting to many glares from the scamming crew , sorry jet ski men..

Hmmm. Not sure I could spend so much time down there without making the effort to tip off the 'marks' before hand. At least once before legging it.

  6. Many thanks. I will try the Jomtien quiz tonight

How was the pub quiz? Im thinking of doing it next Tuesday. Was it difficult? I invisage my wife wont be much help so Ill be a one man team :)

The Shenanigan's Quiz is well run, there seems to be a team of pro quizzers from the UK who seem to win every week though. There is also a few quick question rounds, if you answer first with the correct answer your team get a free drink each, you need to be very quick ie, shout the answer before the whole question has been asked .

Not really. My team wins occasionally and we are far from pro quizzers.

You don't have to be the quickest on the 'free drinks question', just the loudest. (think Australian!!) I think the quiz-master is a bit deaf!

    Good fun though. :)

  7. from my obsevations the scratches on the hull bottom are not repaired at all.

Yeah, so insisting that they take you with them to get it repaired calls their bluff. Something they may not be ready for...

Don't think I would go anywhere with them. Much more dangerous to head off to their back street place even more out numbered with no witnesses. Where they will be much more likely to produce weapons.

  8. cheers guys

Im quite sure its not bedbugs or ants. I reckon its fleas as I think I see things jumping but sometimes put it down to imagination. Any suggestions how to get rid of them..? There are no sprays anywhere. If Im wearing clothes these buggers seem to penetrate them. If Im not I still get bitten.

They bite all over the body and its like an itch sometimes.

As for the sand fleas they bit me outside of a restaraunt once when I was with my friend, in Chiang Mai lol.

As Im writing this my fingers are getting itchy, gotta do something about this soon

It isn't your imagination, you've got fleas alright.

Do you have any pets? Rodent problems?

In any case you should be able to find the right stuff in the pet shop.

  9. Check out the Thai furniture stores more or less opposite the Floating Market on Suk. They have less heavy versions, IMO better-looking, for half the price of the big chunky types. Come with adjustable back and leg rests, cushion, wheels one end and little slide-out table.

  10. Fantastic news.I think this is a moment to pay tribute to the Thai leaders (from Thaksin to Abhisit) who have laboured so hard to secure her release and democratic rights for the oppressed people of Burma.Thailand politicians and the Thai army (instead of tying up business deals with the Burmese junta) should be congratulated for their persistent and unflagging efforts. It's also a moment to pay tribute to the moral courage of ASEAN who have never felt bound by the asinine policy of non interference in the internal matters of other members. How we remember with pride the interventions by Thailand when the Burmese generals stole the election and continued through murder and repression to cow the Burmese population.

    If only...

    Nicely put Jayboy. Cheers.

  11. Most tourists wouldn't give any garbage lying around a second thought because most tourists are aware they're holidaying in a developing country and have a fair idea of what to expect. They don't expect things to be the same as back at home.

Exactly...I dare say the "Third World" aspects of Thailand/Pattaya are an attraction in themselves for many "First World" tourists.

yep, that's why they headline the filth and stink in all the brochures.
