  1. I did my extension last week at Changwattana and in addition to the standard list they wanted.

Every page of my bank book not just covering 2 months seasoning of 400K. Bank book update, bank letter and statements were all on day of application

2 copies of all supporting documents they sent me away to get these copied.

We had also included 6 months bank statements which they took, title deed of the condo where we live and its blue book  + my wifes house registration as its different from where we live she is still registered at her parents.

  2. I applied yesterday at Chaengwattana, in addition to the general list i was asked for my TM30, luckily we had this on my wife phone as we do it online and we continued to do these during amnesty although not required. They also require a photocopy of every page of your bank book which we always include, Lastly the sent me away to get a 2nd copy of all supporting documents.

The IO asked a lot about why i had gone for marriage extension over retirement. I told her i am not retired but not working currently due to covid travel restrictions which is correct. She said retirement is easier to get.

CW was quite busy but efficient the whole process took 3 hours including their lunch hour.

Back on 9th November for their decision.

  3. Thanks guys for all your comments and direction, my wife will accompany me for the submission at CW. We have all the required documents, photos and financial requirements that are known but theres always some minor things they may ask for as extras which we will try and anticipate and bring with us.

Joe you mentioned on your list they may want a witness, when i applied for my in country 90 day Non Imm O based on marriage in August they did the house visit and my witness was present to answer their questions. Will they want to see the witness again for the 1 year extension? as i have not arranged this.

  4. I paid my property tax in Bangkok yesterday it is 0.2% of the governments assessed value which is about 60% of market value. There is a 90% reduction on the assessment for this year only. We have an agent paying today for our Pattaya units. I have total 6 units in Thailand and not received one letter for any of my unit.

If you get an agent to do this as you are out of Thailand just provide photocopy of Title deed, blue book even though it does not record Foreign names and a copy of your passport.

At the office they will input the details from the deed such as size and then give you the assessment of value and tax to be paid on a printout. The tax shown is then reduced by 90% when you actually pay.

For those that have received the letters showing tax due they can pay at KTB bank no need to attend your local tax office.

  5. The home inspection was easy as firstly the officer called the day before and my wife gave him very clear instructions on how to get to our condo, secondly we met them at the reception and showed respect for the process and lastly the officer mentioned our witness, my wife best friend of 15 years was very professional and could explain how she knew my wife and myself. It is not a grilling its just a check that the marriage is real. all done ion 40 minutes max. The officers were professional and efficient.

  6. Today i was issued my 90 day Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage at Chaengwattana Bangkok

I entered Thailand on March 20th tourist exemption to 18 April.

July 8th whilst under the amnesty i applied for a 60 extension of stay to visit my Thai wife valid until 6 Sept.

11th August i submitted my application for my 90 day Non Immigration O visa based on marriage, the immigration home visit was completed on 18th August.

Today i received my visa and In 60 days from now i can apply to have this extended for 1 year.

I went this route as a long term option as it will be simpler for me when working in the region and returning to Thailand frequently and also when i retire in a couple of years i will already have this process set up.

Its also a great time now to process this as its a quick and easy process now as CW is so quiet with many holding out for late Sept to see if borders will re-open or there would be another amnesty extension. We arrived at 9am this morning straight in to the officer and out within 20 minutes.

The whole process was quick and efficient and from my experience the IO gave me all the information i needed at each stage and the only thing i was asked for in addition to the published list of documents for submission was a photocopy of each page of my bank book. We also included my TM30's, 6 wedding photos and 6 months of bank statements in our submission as extras.

Got a phone call today that the house visit is tomorrow morning. ????

Despite the short notice, we've got a neighbor willing to come over with a copy of his ID and house book.

Is there anything else I should do to prepare--passport, marriage cert. other documents, etc...?

    Thanks!

I had a call yesterday for my home visit which they completed toady giving us 30 minutes notice of their arrival, two officers came took 3 photos with us, the witness and 1 officer. 1 outside apt building,  1 outside apt door with number and 1 sitting on sofa. Took a copy of my wife and the witness ID, also copied my bank book and passport. Asked our witness some questions who has been my wife best friend and known me for 11 years so she knew all the details. Took about 45 minutes all together. Again polite, friendly and efficient officers. An overview for anyone applying at CW office. I was told all ok so i will attend on 26th August as schedule and hope to get my 90 day Non-immigrant O based on marriage.

You will be under the amnesty when your 60 day extension ends. But some immigration offices may not accept your application for a one year extension if on the amnesty.

If possible I suggest you try do the extension as soon as possible. Since the 15th is a Sunday you could do it on Monday without being late.

Chaeng Wattana does not require any witness statements when you apply for the extension. They will do a home visit during the under consideration period.

Here is my general list of required documents and etc. Marriage Extension Requirements 2.pdf

CW will want copies of your bank book updated on the day you apply. They also prefer the letter from the bank be done the same day but will accept one from the day before.

I followed UJ's list for my submission at CW this week the only other item they requested not on the list was every page of my bank book to be photo copied which i did whilst there. I brought no witnesses just my wife and myself in attendance, it was my first submission for a non imm O. They said i will get a home visit and they may talk with the juristic as witness. We are now awaiting their call to arrange the home visit.

    Hi @BangkokAlan,

Thanks for your report and glad that everything worked out smoothly for you (as it should)!

But I have one question and would really appreciate you answering it.

Reason for my question being that I am collecting case-reports from people applying for a Visa or extension at their local IO, during the Amnesty.  In these unprecedented chaos times, IOs are not consistent in how they handle such applications, and hence it is useful to get well-documented case-stories of success or refusal.

    Here my question.

Hi everyone, looking for some advice on gaining marriage extension. I came in on a tourist exemption in March and early July opted for a 60 day extension to visit Thai wife in case the amnesty wasn't extended. My extension of stay expires 6th Sept while i could stay until 26th Sept without doing anything i prefer to have a long term option.

I am interested in the period between your entry in Thailand on a Tourist Visa in March and your application for the 60-day extension of stay early July.

1 - What was the permission to stay date as stamped into your passport when entering in March?

2 - After that permission to stay expired, did you apply for a 30-day extension of stay which your Tourist Visa entry allowed you?  If so when did you apply for it.

    >> I am trying to determine whether you were on the 'Amnesty' extension during the April till June period, as it seems that some IOs use this as an 'excuse' for not accepting a 1-year extension of stay application (even when doing so from a valid 60-day permission to stay, as you did).

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Peter, to answer your questions, I arrived on 20th March on a tourists exemption and was given the standard 30 days. I was on the amnesty when i applied for the 60 day extension to visit Thai wife on 8th July and was given 60 days from 8th July with an expiry of 6th Sept. My personal experience is as long as you are prepared well with what they want and think ahead on what they may request as extras (most of which has been raised on this forum such as requesting a photocopy of every page of my bank book today) then you should be ok. Also submitting a CW office is probably easier as i believe it is more closely monitored being in BKK and also better informed due to its location so i think this helps with a more consistent approach. That just my opinion. My wife is also very detailed so applies her Thai thinking to what we may get asked to provide. Hope this helps.

    UJ is fully correct.

The granted 60-day extension of stay you applied for, provided you with a valid permission to stay till 6 September.  So it should be no problem applying from that valid permission for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa for reason of marriage.

Please note that you need to apply for that 90-day Non Imm O marriage Visa when you still have at least 15 days (some offices require 23 days) left on your permission to stay.

You only need to prove you meet the financial requirements on the day of application (so no seasoning requirements).

    >> It is strongly recommended not to wait till very last day for doing the 90-day Non Imm O Visa application at CW.

This in case your application turns out to be incomplete, so you still have time and opportunity to arrange for any missing documents.

Also in the unlikely case that CW would not accept your application for the Non Imm O Visa because of you having been on the Amnesty during the preceding period, it would provide you with the option to relocate to a more accomodating IO in another province (but that would take a couple of days, hence the importance of applying with sufficient time left on your permission to stay, keeping in mind the required 15 or 23 days before expiry of that permission to stay).

I went to CW immigration today at 9am and submitted my application for a 90 day Non-immigrant O visa based on marriage extension, it took less an hour to process no queue straight in and up to the counter. I had all the required documents plus added in a 6 month statement and my TM30. The only extras they asked was for each page of my updated bank book to be photocopied which i did will the IO spoke to my wife, asked for our photos to be changed from landscape to portrait which we did there and my wife mentioned she actually had some wedding photos in case they were required which she added into the submission. Never asked me question clearly explained the 90 day visa, the extension process and re-entry permit process so i left the office clear. We are now waiting on our call for the home visit but IO said probably issue the visa on 26th all being good with the home visit. IO was very polite, efficient and helpful.

Can anyone advise me if i can now apply for 1 year extension of stay based on marriage. I have all the financial and other requirements just need to know if i need to apply for a Non-Immigrant O Visa here in Thailand first and then extension of stay or they can use my existing extension of stay and extend further
