As a 20 year-old U.S. Air Force E-4, I lived and worked in Thailand for 18 months - 1973/1974. Yes! - Heaven on Earth. Ganja all day - every day. Patpong/ Petchburi Rds, Newly established Soi Cowboy, friendly fun-loving girls, ... very little A/C and no Skytrain. Shrimp Fried Rice - 7 Baht. Monkey-Ball Soup - 3 Baht. Gravel Roads and rice fields beyond Ekamai. Backup files 8.zip ... I don't have Netflix so can't see the movie. (DVD ???)

If Thailand wants to be an innovative leader in the world, they would fully dismiss this planned-demic nonsense and ignore the nefarious mandates for jabs, masks and societal distancing. The people would be infinitely better off by simply avoiding taking the "Franken-jab" (as well as being absolutely addicted to their face-diaper!) Of course that has a near 100% unlikely chance of coming about due to the financial abundance lavished upon the top decision makers. ????

... Been here 13 years - Never able to successfully navigate their Online 90-Day Reporting! ????
-
-
I went to Chiang Watanna on Aug 19th to do my 90-Day Report -which was due on the 20th.
At Chiang Watanna (where I have been doing it for the last 12 years, they threw
a faded-out half page of jibberish at me and told me that the 90-Reporting Office
had been moved and the (unreadable) jibberish on the paper was a map to there.
(So small and washed-out it could barely be seen!) ... after much dickering
with the taxi driver, (in Thai,) I finally persuaded him to use his meter.
Th new 90-Day Reporting Office was in a concrete Parking Garage
in back of Impact Arena, in Muang Thong Thani. I stood in the heat
and waited my turn for about 20 minutes. I was serviced by a heavy-set
lady that was unresponsive to my attempts of polite civility (-in Thai.)
On the street out in front of the garage were an abundance of Motorcycle taxis
and car taxis. Since I had already paid the (metered) taxi fare to get there, I had
some idea of what the cost would be. The motorcycle taxis wanted double that amount and
I couldn't find a car taxi until I persuaded the 5th taxi in line to use his meter.
All in all, it was a very uncomfortable, stressful, time-consuming, expensive afternoon - UNECESSARILY! :(

How many straight male residents in Pattaya have a male Thai friend, for example? ...
While having a conversation with a Thai Business Lady, She said. "Oh, you've lived here a long time. Do you have a lot of Thai friends?" Without hesitation I replied, "Thais can't be friends with farangs - what would all their friends think?"

Hahaha this reminds me of my situation here in a small village in Isaan. I'm told I am disliked by most of the locals here because I have been here too long and therefore quite knowledgeable of the tricks/scams etc the Thai wives pull on their farang husbands.
This horrifies me because its an indication that most of the villages support/condone such thievery!
Correct! Yes, the truth is that the entire village/town is in on it! They act so friendly and say "you are so handsome-man." All the while knowing that your Thai lady is working on getting a big new house, a Toyota Fortuna, and setting everything up for her and her family to live the high-life after you have run out of money and left or died. ... The truth is that 'New Arrival Tourists' don't know about the monetary burden of all the sick water buffalo up-country that desperately needs surgery!

Is immigration on board for this? Have they even been consulted?
How about cutting through red tape and rip offs and allow retired native English speakers to teach part time? I was a teacher in USA & native English (okay, American) speaker. I don't need the money and would enjoy maybe 10 hrs a week... but I would not put up with ignorant administration making money off of my free time, among other things.
Identical situation here. Also, at the many Thai Schools that I have worked at, the Passive-Aggressive, (Indirect Hostility,) was so thick that you couldn't cut it with a knife! Methinks this might be one of the "among other things" emdog referred to above.

Prefix was " K ." I think all 3 led to such a wait time - Process, Staffing and # of people. ????

about 2 hours for the Stamp transfer. The 1-year retirement extension took the most amount of time (by far.) It was then that they kept telling me, (in Thai,) of the TM 30 requirement! The Re-Entry Permit only took about an hour as it was past working hours and they were finishing-up all the remaining people. ????

So it sounds like you actually accomplished five tasks, with the TM30 being the fifth, and that one took two hours.
If you wanted to share any details that would be great.
I'm guessing you did the stamp transfer first? Did you get flagged for the TM30 there, and have to sort that out first. How long did the stamp transfer take? Busy? Any fee for that? And any fine for the TM30?
...Yes, Stamp transfer first - no fee. then, 90 Address Report, (they warned me that they might ask me for 'Residence Verification' -but I didn't know what they were talking about. While getting the 1-year extension, they informed me (in Thai,) of the required TM 30!

Otherwise though, I wholeheartedly agree with your post, ten hours is insane. How on earth can they not have better systems after all these years, after pocketing so much tourist and expat money? Your post doesn't even mention the recent TM30 issue, which is a horse of a different colour, and could have easily derailed any of the four things you went there to do.
Yes, after living in the same apartment straight up the street from the Immigration Office for 7 1/2 years, they sprung the urgent TM30 Issue on me! (Fortunately, my apartment manager emailed then my 'Rental Contract' and it worked - just took-up another 2 hours!

Hello, Yesterday, June 4th, I went to the Immigration Office, (Chaeng Watanna, Bangkok,) because I had 4 items on my "to-do list." 1. Since I just received a new Passport, I needed my retirement stamp transferred. 2. I wanted to get my 1-year extension. 3. a re-entry permit and 4. Do my 90-Day address report. I accomplished all 4 but it took 10 grueling hours in a crowded-beyond-capacity office-building. The employees, (clerks,) stayed busy doing their jobs and were for the most part pleasant. The problem lies with the 'Government-Mandated' regulations that the employees have to impose on us "Aliens." It is quite obvious that the "Powers-That-Be" are quite "Anti-Farang" and any way possible to milk as much money as possible from them is the over-shadowing policy. I learned my lesson and decided that, (after 11 consecutive years of residence,) at the expiration of my current 1-year Retirement Extension, I will be located outside of Thailand.

I am a smoker and I am VERY careful about where I smoke so as to NOT cause anyone any discomfort. However, there are still people that come over to me, (outside,) give me dirty looks and hold their nose and act as though I am blowing smoke into their mouths. Also, the inadequate amount of 'designated smoking areas' is quite problematic as well.

Been living in Thailand 10 years. Within that time, I made 2 visits to Vietnam. #1 was 9 days solo in Saigon, (HCMC.) Inadequate nightlife, horns were a nuisance, some people were friendly, hawkers were uncomfortably aggressive... I am American and visually quite caucasian. I enjoyed the War Museum and the "tour" of the Viet Cong tunnels.
The second visit was to Hanoi/Ha Long Bay. I was accompanied by my Thai girlfriend so I didn't look for or find and nightlife at all. The "tour" of Halong Bay was spoiled by the endless nickel-and-dime charges for everything imaginable. Overall, I felt much more of a "targeted-ATM" than in Thailand.

Right - since the most recent "Update," everytime I try to mak a call is says, "Your signal is not strong enough - Try again later." (I try numerous times throughout the day and get the same response!)
