Justification for my philosophy of never eating in Indian restaurants in Pattaya.

On topic I surprisingly only know one who had to go home skint, but several others who got stuck outside and won't come back due to quarantine and some not being up to the CoE. At least after 3 rejections they abandoned it.
Count me in that number. Tried and failed at the end of July. I now don't intend to return until all restrictions are lifted in both countries and then only as a tourist/snowbird. Probably at least a year away.

My income is derived entirely from state and company pensions in the UK. With the improvement in the GBP/THB rate, I am now noticably better off than before the pandemic and with the restrictions on bar/entertainment venues my outgoings are less too.

Much worse actually. Thais travelling to the UK don't have to purchase expensive and practically useless Covid insurance. Neither do they have to apply for a "Certificate of Entry" from the British embassy in Thailand before travelling.

Re Leaver, " How many of the well established businesses are left now ". ?
I said at the start of your "Is the closure of your favourite bar or restaurant imminent thread that I was confident my regular long standing favourites would survive, To date that has still been the case, professionally run businesses with a well established customer base of resident expats built up over the years. Typically this customer base would be what covered their operating costs during the low season months every year previous as other less professional businesses came and went year after year in the normal Pattaya business cycle of failures.
I will be honest enough to admit if one of them goes in the next 6 months.
All Retox bars are no more. Retox Soi Honey was one of the most popular bars in Pattaya pre pandemic. Fits all your criteria but now gone. There are others.

Not for me but I'm guessing someone called polpott would side with the latter.
My board name has nothing to do with a Cambodian. Its a play on my real name.
Besides only an idiot would side with the former.

I'm sure you find the Communist Party of China a far more credible source.
I certainly would trust the PRC before Trump.

So this is a report from a political party.
OK.
Yes, a completely discredited political party thanks to its former leader, "the liar in chief".

My advice is, smoke more cannabis, drink more beer, and meet the occasional young Thai Friendly women. ................ Oh and play Metallica "Nothing Else Matters" a lot.
Came back to the UK on April 22nd for 3 months. Needed heart problem resolving, vaccine and visit family.
Quickly discovered that my heart problem was mainly due to the heat in Thailand which quickly resolved itself. Now, after a bank of tests, have been given a clean bill of health.
Had both doses of vaccine followed by Indian variant of Covid. I must be bulletproof now.
Had nightmares with applying for Phuket sandbox and had to cancel flight. i then received news from my Thai neighbour that my wife had been cheating on me (true or not, I'll never know). It was the final straw for Thailand and I pulled the plug after 7 years.
I have secured a nice apartment within walking distance of my wife, my best friend and my local pub.
Local bar had decent metal bands on Friday and Saturday night accompanied by as much Stella as you can drink. Never seen so many big breasted women in years.
The town is awash with cannabis and I haven't smoked so much in years. Also a pleasure to vape without the attention of the police which has helped me to transform from a 60 a day smoker to a non smoker.
Biggest bonus is spending quality time with my first grandchild. Doubt that I'll ever return to Thailand.

Due to being stuck in the UK for a longer period than I anticipated, I need to transfer 80k baht from my Thai bank account to UK bank account. Can only interact with Bangkok Bank online. Is it possible?

I am currently in Uk and was double vaccinated with AZ vaccine but succumbed to Delta variant. However, it was less unpleasant than the flu and I'm now fully recovered. It doesn't prevent infection but does mitigate serious illness.

But as demonstrated but your own experience lateral flow test do not work well in the initial stages of infection and also at the trailing end.
False negatives are common in theses periods. Meaning people will still go out believing they are negative. That is why they are not widely used.
I tested negative with both the official PCR test and the LFT. They are very widely used in the UK and are reasonably accurate.

Lateral flow tests provide a quick result, using a device similar to a pregnancy test and are intended for use in those without symptoms, according to the UK NHS. PCR tests are mainly used when people have coronavirus symptoms or have already had a positive lateral flow result, and are sent to laboratories to be checked. The NHS suggests people do a lateral flow test twice a week to check if they have the virus.

Is Thailand using Lateral Flow Testing ?
I'm currently in the UK and desperately trying to return to Thailand (but failing).
Had my 2nd AZ vaccine on 19th June. My friend (also fully vaccinated) tested positive for Covid 10 days later. I immediately had a government PCR test which returned negative even though I had symptoms. I availed myself of a couple of boxes of free Lateral Flow Tests and have tested myself daily ever since. After 3 days I tested positive and self isolated. 5 days later I tested negative and have done ever since. I no longer have any symptoms and am no longer isolating. The UK government is unaware that I have had Covid.
Free lateral flow tests would be a big benefit to the Thai population. However complete and effective vaccinations are the answer. I had something no worse than the flu and didn't feel the need to visit a hospital, I put that down to having already been fully vaccinated.

you have never had a hot dog weiner american breakfast in thailand?
your either really lucky or you need to get out more. i don't think the places that served it even had names. mostly guesthouses, or even mid range hotels, or other travelers/tourist type joints.
So not in restaurants in Central Pattaya then? (which is the subject of this thread).

are you sure it's not really a hot dog, cooked to look like a sausage? they have blokes in there all they do all morning is make hot dogs look like a real sausage so people will pay extra. they even pour catsup on your plate so you can't tell that it's really a hot dog weiner.
I now seriously doubt that you have ever been to Pattaya. Hot dogs cooked to look like sausages? Really?
I have eaten many full English breakfasts both in Pattaya and the UK. Although the breakfasts in Central Pattaya don't measure up to the best of British, most would pass muster in your average British transport caf.

Sinovac isn't much help with the Delta variant. This variant will be the dominant one here in a few months.
Try a few weeks. Took a month to become the dominant vartiant in the UK and its already in Thailand.
Don't worry though, Delta+ on its way, already in the UK. More transmissible, more resistant to vaccines and more deadly. Will replace the Delta variant in the blink of an eye.

Sweden, not UK. Also suspected of being immigrants, not native Swedes.
Happens everywhere but much more common in Thailand and other barely civilised countries, than the West.
