My understanding is that if you leave the country without a re-entry permit, then you definitely need a fresh TM30 because you're equivalent to someone who just arrived for the first time. If you had a re-entry permit, and did not change your address, then I would have supposed your existing TM30 would have been sufficient. Did you have a re-entry permit?

They're neighbors across the way, in a building opposite mine, so I have no contact with them.

I see that some of my neighbors in Jomtien have pull-down sun shades on their balconies (see photo below). Pretty cool. Can anyone recommend a good contractor who can install these? Approximately what would it cost to install a single pull-down shade? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I'd like to install high quality screen doors on my condo balcony. Something like those pictured below. Does anyone know of a good contractor, serving Jomtien, who can do this? Approximately how much would it cost? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I live in Pattaya and I hate Songkran. Having people throw water on me as I walk down the street or sit in a song thau sucks. Is there a quiet, peaceful, respectful spot in Thailand that I can go to for Songkran where I won't be subjected to the Pattaya-style chaos? Preferably someplace with decent lodging and restaurants and pretty scenery. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

In the end I submitted a hand-drawn map that took me about 20 seconds to draw, very crude. It was accepted with no comment.

Until recently I was on an O-A retirement visa and usually filed my 90 day reports online. Last week I did a round-trip to Cambodia, without a re-entry permit. I'm now in Thailand as a tourist with a 30 day stamp in my passport. I'm in the process of applying for a Non-O visa. I just got an email to file my next 90 day report. But as of now I'm a tourist, so does this even apply? Should I ignore it? If not, what's the correct way to deal with it?

I am in the process of applying for a Non-O retirement visa. In order to document my residence, Immigration requires a map, for some strange reason (like Thailand is terra incognita and they don't know where things are). So I submitted a printout from Google Maps. NO! It must be a hand-drawn map. I told the agent: "I think Google can do a better job drawing a map than I can." She glared at me like I was Public Enemy Number 1. "No! It must be hand-drawn." This is just a way to annoy and harass visa applicants, isn't it? Or is there a reason that I'm missing? What if they don't like my drawing??? Has anyone else experienced this nonsense?

I will be flying to Phnom Penh, departing Suvarnabhumi Airport at 09:45, on Sky Angkor. My ticket seller, Trip.com, advises: "We make the suggestion to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at least 3hr prior to departure to ensure you have enough time to check in." Is this good advice, or is 3 hours overkill? What are other travelers' experiences?

Using Skyscanner, which is an excellent website and app, I found a flight from BKK to PNH (Phnom Penh) for $41.35. I feel this is a reasonable price for a throwaway ticket and I booked it.

I'd like an update on this issue. If one enters the country as a visa-exempt tourist, is an outbound flight within the next 30 days still a requirement?

Cancel O-A visa via Cambodia border run?
eboy replied to eboy's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
My understanding is that if I stay past my visa expiration, even 1 day, I'm violating the rules. That's why I'm planning the border run before it expires. As noted in my edited note, money in the bank is not a problem for me. -
My O-A retirement visa expires in less than a month. My plan is to do a border run to Cambodia, using a professional border run service, and return as a visa-exempt tourist. I will then apply for an O-visa. Has anyone used this method, and did it work for you? More details: I do NOT have a re-entry permit. I'm in the Pattaya area and use the Immigration office in Jomtien. I've had over 800k Baht in a Thai bank for a couple of years.

O retirement visa: Still no insurance requirement?
eboy replied to eboy's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As noted, I've had 800k+ in the account for at least 2 years. So I should be okay, right? -
O retirement visa: Still no insurance requirement?

Yes, I plan to do a border run to Cambodia and return visa exempt. I've had 800kB in a Thai bank for at least a couple of years. I'll be using Jomtien Immigration. By the way, what are "OP" and "o/s"? -
O retirement visa: Still no insurance requirement?

Thanks for the link. Very helpful. -
I'm planning to convert my "O-A" retirement visa to an "O" retirement visa next month (February 2024) so as to remove the insurance requirement. Before proceeding I want to double-check that the "O" retirement visa still does not have an insurance requirement. Thank you in advance for your comments.

Questioned and nearly denied entry at BKK

Where do you live? And can you recommend a high-quality company for doing a border run? -
O retirement visa: Still no insurance requirement?
eboy replied to eboy's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I just called the Immigration Bureau hotline at 1178. The rep told me that if I have not formally applied for a re-entry permit, if I leave the country and re-enter my O-A visa is cancelled and I must re-enter as a tourist. He also told me there's no specific time I need to stay out of the country. I can exit, turn around, and return. -
O retirement visa: Still no insurance requirement?

I'm in the 6th year of my O-A visa. So no automatic re-entry permit after the first year would apply in my case, right?
