  1. Is there a dubbed version? I couldn't see that they did one. I guess you could feed the .srt file (assuming you can find one) into a text to speech program, but syncing it? Probably impossible. On the plus side, that new feature of adding subtitles has wowed a few thai people I showed it to.
  2. Does it function now? Pixel Experience looks pretty good? https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=xiaomi+redmi+note+10+pro+custom+rom
  3. It doesn't matter, you will not be able to upload a record (Top-Excel) or Save a record (bottom). You can do one, or the other, if it was working. The Excel option is meant for hotels trying to register tens, hundreds of guests. Although it can be used for one single record. Use the mobile app.
  4. I don't think you can upload a XLS file, or save a new record on the website. It's been broken for quite a while. The mobile app, Sec38, does work. Or it did a month or so ago for me. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=th.go.immigration.section38&hl=en&gl=US
  5. Not exactly a growth business model. Average clientele must be what, in their 80's? I see these in a shop in Bangkok, and for the first time ever, actually saw someone walking away with one, so somebody buys these. I wonder what the royalty/licensing terms are? And what prevents "knock-offs"?
  6. Sorry. Still groggy and jumped to my own meaning of your request. Finally re-reading it I see your question is actually a "Text to Speech" question. So the video is in a non-English language? And assuming English subtitles can be displayed, you want to "convert" those written English subtitles into spoken (audio) English so that someone can hear them? Preferably not sounding like a robot or auto-tuned singer? Is that correct? Or are you looking for something else?
  7. Yeah, rooting your phone - snicker - is quite passe. And any financial service/banking apps will NOT function on a rooted phone. And now you're locked on that ROM. And did we mention the potential security issues? Manufacturer bloatware is (part of) the price you pay for the handset. Well that and the automatic reporting back to the Central Committee. Same-same for Google apps. For ancient devices, rooting and installing a custom ROM can be a viable solution. I do this on a few devices, but never, ever on any sort of daily driver.
  8. I didn't drill down very far. Yes, the first few thai videos I tried didn't even offer the cc sub-menu pick. It does seem to support auto-translate FROM other languages INTO thai though. Which some thais might find helpful.
  9. I omitted that this method will probably not satisfy the monthly income foreign transfer requirements from Immigration.

  11. Some U.S. financial institutions offer a Visa-embossed ATM Debit Card. Some of these offer ATM fee reimbursement. Fidelity and Schwab come to mind. Some of these allow foreign (and domestic) cash advances from a financial institution. These are subject to daily limits, authorization and of course, your underlying account's balance. “Cash Advance” means a Transaction in which you receive money back from a merchant or financial institution. Cash Advances do not include ATM Withdrawals. You get the daily Visa rate. (No 3% uplift) There are no additional, hidden fees. No foreign currency fees. It is the best option, better than WISE (by a not insignificant amount), better than a fee-free SWIFT, but there are daily limits (mine is $2,500, Schwab has a $15,000 daily limit) and branches here may or may not be completely fluent in this option. It's come up here often over the years, I honestly didn't understand it fully until researching this recent thread... https://aseannow.com/topic/1244162-us-to-thai-฿-thai-banks-and-schwab-visa/
  12. Can you share your vaccination history? You are in thailand? You got Pfizer 2X? When? Where? Then you got a Pfizer booster two months after your second dose? Where? Just waiting for someone to roll up saying they got their booster BEFORE their second shot.
  13. Me personally? No. https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/crimecourtscalamity/2020/12/24/expat-says-bank-denied-him-entry-due-to-covid-19/
  14. Yeah, baby steps for 3tuk, didn't want to confuse him any more than he already is.
  15. (So you have an SCB account?) You're conflating two separate "issues". Your misperception that transfers greater than $10,000 draw the attention of Uncle Sam. They don't. That annual FBAR reporting requires monthly statements. I assume you keep track of your thai bank balance somehow? Maybe with a passbook? Maybe with some software app? If it exceeds $10,000 at any point during the year you'll need to file FBAR. It takes like 5 minutes. (You'll get prompted for this in many tax prep software apps.) This is USD right? Use WISE. A teller cash advance probably gives the best overall rate - there's a great thread here on that subject - but those have daily limits; Fidelity/$2,500, Schwab/$15,000. And once you have thai bank accounts, and when you return to the U.S. set up standing wire transfer orders at Fidelity for added flexibility. (Fidelity offers fee-free international SWIFT wire transfers, you get the TT rate at BBL, less their fee (slides from 200 min to 500 max baht.) Send USD and let Fidelity choose the routing, always JP Morgan Chase NA for me. But for now, just use WISE. Use WISE. Use WISE. Use WISE.
  16. AXE body spray. (See photo) Household staple? OK. And who actually gets epaulettes on a polo shirt? Finally, those holiday bird's nest elixir gift baskets are "staples"?
  17. 1. There is no rationale or argument to cease them until there is 'normal' (pre-covid) border ingress/egress. In fact, maybe they should just set up a normal, unlimited extension 30 or 60-day scheme going forward. Keeps the bees busy at Imm with work, and cash flow. Maybe have some sort of income and health insurance requirement. Folks have been here for what, close to two years and the country hasn't suffered as a result.
  18. I'm all set, I've already "tried" everything. I can access mySSA, IRS and CBP. And now have both login.gov and id.me. Whoever recommended this id.me thing, in another thread, deserves a serious round of thanks.
  19. I think you'll find this originally came from The Treasure of Sierra Madre, obviously a favorite line for Mel Brooks to use. (And that's Hedley Lamarr.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OcM23Hbs5U
  20. I've tried the lemon juice thing quite a few times, even overnight. Results: Meh. Land o' Food:
  21. "Precise rules". thailand. Good one. Location dependent, varies by province, district, sub-district, village. Contact your nearest public health office. https://www.moicovid.com/ข้อมูลสำคัญ-จังหวัด/
  22. Where they (Staff at CW) will face new requirements. from Bangkok Immigration Facebook page, via the Government Complex FB page. Again, for STAFF only, not "customers". (But the message is confusing, shocker.) Government Complex Enhance protection measures "Omicron" Clearly reiterate! Have government officials and operators show their ATK results before entering the building. Ready to serve people for the new year Thanarak Asset Development Co., Ltd. (Bank of Ayudhya), the executive of the Government Center Chaloem Phrakiat Chaengwattana, reiterates clearly! Serving the people with safety must be the number one priority, revealed on January 4, 2022 onwards, government officials, officials and workers in various buildings within the Government Center. Ready to raise the level of prevention measures against Covid-19, the Omicron strain, to the highest level by cooperating to show ID card together with negative ATK test results if returning from abroad. or come from a high-risk area with an outbreak in the last 14 days. An Antigen Test Kit (ATK) must be tested on the day of work and the result is negative. before entering the building For people who come to contact within the Government Center Evidence is required before entering the various buildings: 1) Evidence of complete 2 injections of vaccination 2) A negative Antigen Test Kit (ATK) result within 72 hours 3) Doing a COVID-19 risk screening form at the entrance to the building If found to be at risk traveling from abroad or coming from different risk areas where there is an outbreak of disease will not be allowed to enter the building But if necessary, an Antigen Test Kit (ATK) should be checked immediately before entering the building. and environmental department Laksi District Office will go into the inspection in order to continue in accordance with the measures of the CCC I could not fashion a reasonable link so
  23. ACH from your banks to Fidelity (free), then SWIFT from Fidelity (also free) to thai bank. Assume you know you need to set up a Standing Wire Transfer Order for each thai bank at Fidelity. Best done in person (Medallion stamp required) before you leave the U.S. Then you have to telephone in each SWIFT wire transfer. Mine take ~ 14 hours on average, call at 20:30, funds clear 10:30 (SMS comes a few hours later). I think you'll find that WISE may be the best/simplest,easiest/most cost effective option? Oh, you're here already. Make that the "only" option. (Yes, there are other similar money delivery systems, although some may have a 50,000 BAHT limit.) I would recommend at least two different banks, one being Bangkok Bank. And if you can, open the accounts in branches in shopping malls. They're open more days, longer hours, and staff are used to English. The $10,000 barrier is an old wives tale. Let it go. There are no reporting requirements. Yes, you'll have to file FBAR annually if your thai account exceed $10,000 at any point during the year.
