  1. And, of course, the word "flood" has been replaced with "water waiting to drain away".
  2. Unfortunately not available until next year. Giant Bangkok drainage tunnel almost 90% complete https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40006292 They also use the existing complex of canals to push water to the west and east. And they flood land north of Bangkok as storage and let that drain off.
  3. 20-July-2020 Contract with Pfizer (THL) signed for 20 mm doses, appended later for 10 mm more. 2 mm arrived yesterday. https://www.thephuketnews.com/government-finally-inks-pfizer-deal-80758.php The Moderna situation was/is a lot more complex, as a distributor is involved (Zuellig Therapeutics, a subsidiary of Zuellig Pharma), with some 5 mm doses ordered by the GPO already, and another 9 mm ordered for next year by Thai Red Cross Society and Chulabhorn Royal Academy. The landed cost per dose has been estimated at ~ 970 baht.
  4. Not too bad. Contract signed July 20, for 20 mm (initial order, another 10 mm ordered August 21). Shows what you can do when you actually place an order. And so much for the lack of availability.
  5. 6. Based on this article it sounds like TrueVisions will broadcast SPOTV (from South Korea) and SPOTV 2 on CH. 689 and 690. https://www.tnnthailand.com/news/activities/91804/ But it doesn't look like the have F1 - they do have golf, tennis majors, moto gp though.
  7. So there's a grey/secondary market for vaccines. I'm sure this is all transparent - cough. SMH.
  8. Most of Asia will have lost Fox Sports and the suggested streams here will be severely taxed. Hoping for the best, or even a paid alternative, but suspect it will be back to highlights or torrents. Saw some mention, on thai social media, that True may try to re-gain new broadcast rights directly, for Thailand.
  9. Lots of reviews online, incl Youtube. Based on a quick scan of the specs I'd say this unit supports the official Play Store, and can support a keyboard.mouse (USB or Bluetooth).
  10. Surely teachers aren't the only sub-group of government employees leveraged beyond their means? I'm surprised all of these Cooperative Savings (cough) institutions are still "solvent". Now if only teachers could use plastic bags in the classroom to generate "interest".
  11. Interesting that small amounts of AZ are required from Bhutan, Singapore, Japan, UK. I guess every little bit helps.
  12. Last official statement I saw was 993 inoculation centers. Not sure what positive effect a vaccine-apalooza has? Postponing vaccines, having larger crowds, forcing medical personnel to work faster, longer all seems silly and useless. The day after effect... fewer than 1/10th, 112,215 vaccines administered.
  13. I've read several different versions of this "story" where the minister was pontificating at Friday's vaccina-palooza, and all are a bit different. I think the 125 mm figure includes any/all vaccines from Feb onwards, the bulk of which are due in Q4. And he now refers to vaccines as inactivated (sinopharm, sinovac and AZ) or mRNA. And he lumps different vaccines into different categories on a whim. Not sure if he's just incapable of comprehending the details, or is deliberately obfuscating the facts to perpetuate a more positive view? Probably just incompetence. This is the most recent chart I have...I think a large-ish order for sinopharm was placed since this was publsihed.
  14. I'm sure there are dozens of Windows file search methods, but I use File Manager. And then its Search bar as needed by defining the area (entire PC, Drive, Folder) and the appropriate terms: partial filename, extension, etc. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+search+windows+for+a+file
  15. Yes, it did. The 1 mm Pfizer donation to Malaysia was announced on the same Friday as the 1.5 mm donation to thailand. Vaccines were delivered to Malaysia the following Monday, and to Thailand some 30 days later. Rumblings at the time were that thailand was "negotiating". Donations from Bhutan, Singapore, China and Japan seem to go much more quickly. Singapore just donated 122,400 doses of AstraZeneca. No clue what's up? A lack of priority? Or maybe the regime wants to delay any (more) mRNA vaccines until the first of THEIR 20 mm Pfizer doses arrive. And this is why the Moderna private purchases have been "delayed". The emphasis on appearance - never enough lipstick for the pig - should never be overlooked when analyzing the machinations of this regime. Or it could just be incompetence.
  16. There were some issues with the TM.30 website; you couldn't save the entered info. So maybe this means that (Sec. 38) has been corrected? No clue what they might mean re: 90-Day resuming "normal" operations?
  17. Can you share any details? Immigration office? Was your extension application denied? I've seen reports here that additional paperwork, from the originating bank, receiving Thai bank and the destination Thai bank, can be used to verify that a transfer is indeed international, even if not designated FTT in the passbook.
  18. When the regime predicted they would administer more than 1 mm doses you can be darn sure the published figure will be greater than 1 mm. I'm not certain the regime has published the actual figures yet. I haven't seen them in the usual spots. IMO, publishing extra details about this miraculous effort would go a long way towards removing any doubt. Which vaccines? Total number of each? First, second, third dose totals. Provincial figures.
  19. Was the subcutaneous method used? thai authorities claim that 25% of a normal dose is required, and that it gives super-duper results. I saw that it was used in Phuket for AZ for the record-setting day. https://www.thephuketnews.com/phuket-begins-new-vaccine-injection-method-81511.php
  20. Recently, at CW for a ext stay/ret, applicants have had to sign the following, I had to sign it ~ 3 weeks ago. It details the income and savings options, I think. 1537264707_2RetExtenReqsfromImm2020version (1).pdf
  21. Well, the regime has pretty much unlimited power through a series of decrees, laws and self-granted amnesty/immunity. And there are already a number of mandatory required vaccines for infants and children. So yes, the regime can force anyone to do anything. Whether they choose to do so remains to be seen. I suspect they'll use the velvet glove first.
  22. Considering thailand is accepting AZ donations from Japan, Bhutan and even Singapore (122,400 doses just this week), I'm not sure there's much "local" AZ in the system? The local manufacturer is supposed to be delivering 3 mm, or 6 mm, or fill in the blank mm doses per month, and 36 mm by the end of the year (Oct, Nov and Dec). But that manufacturer's production output is strangely never mentioned these days. I think the current practice, and this changes hourly, is on shot of sinova or sinopharm, followed with a vaccine to be named later. Maybe gift the GF a Moderna package?
  23. Assuming this becomes a reality - I'm not sure it will, you'd just show the same proof you did to obtain your CoE. If it was good enough to get you into Thailand as "fully vaccinated", it will surely be good enough to get you into Siam Paragon?
  24. Well you can't apply for a re-entry permit until you get your extension, and make a copy of it. And it is done at a different desk area (C). Two weeks ago, after making a copy of my new extension downstairs, I returned to the queue desk, got a C number, which was called before the ticket was handed to me. Walked over, sat down, handed the forms over with 1,000 baht. Passport was returned within a few minutes. About the same as last year. I have been unable to file online for the last two years. Hopefully this 90-day filing at CW will correct that situation. FWIW, for me, staff were handing out TM.47's to those in the L desk area. They said to complete one regardless of your next reporting date, I did so, handed it back and received my new next report date form BEFORE meeting with the first IO for my ext stay/ret.
