  1. Well, in 2014 certain people were allowed to shut-down Bangkok. And evidently that was OK. Had the police marched on Asoke in riot gear, I imagine the salim would have fought back. Early on the current protests were peaceful. But the regime couldn't allow a velvety revolution so they forced protesters into more and more violent situations. Allow peaceful protests. That's the only solution.
  2. Like the board-game Clue: lynching victim...at Thammasat, with a folding chair. What is often most striking in lynching photographs is perhaps the faces in the crowd, laughing. You see this in photos of Southern U.S. lynchings too.
  3. I can log-in via the mobile app. (only on 4G, WiFI via ISP (AIS) fails), and get through to the first entry screen, and find previous reports. No access via the web.
  4. Yes. Some hospitals have already started booking appointment dates in the 1 - 15 October 2021 period. They have fewer pre-paid bookings that vaccines allotted. For those who did not make the cut at their particular hospital, many have been notified and offered a refund or a rebooking in Q1 2022. Most used a FIFO system (based on invoice time/date stamp), rather than a lottery, AFAIK.
  5. Not much has changed I guess... AP WAS THERE: 40 years ago, young Thai protesters massacred Even with experience covering the Vietnam War— he was on one of the last helicopters out when the American presence ended with the communist takeover in April 1975 — Ulevich was stunned by the scale of the violence. https://apnews.com/article/e2625859f9a3413e88dd59623c7fe38d Two days later he snapped his iconic Pulitzer-winning photograph, which cannot be posted here.
  6. Yes, but that's "Corruption", lorded over by the now-neutered NACC. I'm not sure that's covered in the proposed law?
  7. The video of a hundred plus policemen in full riot gear descending on a single, solitary motorbike rider, like a pack of feral dogs, was alarming. The lack of discipline of the police, while hardly unexpected here, needs to be addressed ASAP. Rubber bullets need to be banned ASAP. In the past, regimes needed the hooligans from the technical colleges and border/forest police to do the dirty work. Now, it's the regular police. Protest need to be allowed. I mean they were in 2014, right?
  8. He's never coming back, he should save some money on the PR firms and let it go. Most of the people driving the current rise in political awareness are far too young to remember his brief reign. And if they study him at all they know he's no better than most wanna-be headmen. Same country, different jockey as they say here. Yes, he might come back at the very end of his life, or even posthumously, but that's it.
  9. Caveat Emptor. I think you are responsible for any medical expenses which you incur. But this should be covered in the documents which you sign before receiving a vaccination here. I assume these are in Thai and English? Whether you have redress is between you and whomever: your insurance co., the hospital, the thai regime, a vaccine manufacturer.
  10. Good list, but might as well saved time and just said "everything". I'll add a few airport-centric deals: Suvarnabhumi (the actual airport itself - look no further that the current health minister, and his firm Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction PCL, which built several government mega-projects such as Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport ), the CTX baggage scanners and the King Power concession (which made another family's fortune). Stuff falls off the truck here at at least a 30% clip.
  11. Obviously without seeing at least the draft of a law it is challenging to judge, but as a general concept I find this to be troubling, be it for medical personnel or policy makers. Is it Criminal code, Civil code or both? Unless they are doing something they know to be wrong, negligent or illegal now, then why would they need protection in the future? Vaccines are covered by the Thai FDA for EU, so those are exempt from future legal action. Vaccine manufacturers are fully indemnified in contracts with the Thai regime. And this can't be about mistakes made by medical professionals who are working too hard, and thus prone to make more mistakes. I realize that Thai culture isn't big on personal responsibility, but this seems to go well beyond that character flaw. Someone wants this. Just curious who, and why?
  12. I see the first requirement is for a Thai national ID card. So that begs the question: Can a foreigner obtain one of these? And if, so, what ID is used in place of the ID? (Passport is listed as #2.) I'm assuming that you are a foreigner, so this is not a hard requirement? Stepping through the appointment application it seems like those without Thai IDs could apply? Most importantly though, what are the advantages in securing this document? Is it required/accepted for travel to certain countries? On certain conveyances? Returning to Thailand? Why did you get it? Given the near-term departure requirement it seems like people feel the need to secure this. Just wondering why? Is the documentation provided after 2 doses of any vaccine here unacceptable in some countries?
  13. "Full disclosure"? In Thailand? By the regime? Yeah, good luck with that.
  14. Just right click and translate. Although nothing there: 1. Molnupiravir (molnupiravir) is an antiviral oral tablet. Developed for the treatment of influenza 2. Studies have shown that it is effective against many coronaviruses, such as SARS, MERS and COVID-19. 3. Molnupiravir is currently has status as an antiviral drug test It is undergoing Phase 3 clinical trials in humans and is considering for approval by the US Food and Drug Administration. 4. After this, if the results of the study showed that the drug was effective in reducing the severity of the disease and reduce the likelihood of death a chance to be approved as an emergency drug for the treatment of COVID-19 5. Preventing the spread of COVID-19 The best thing right now is vaccination against COVID-19. together with self-defense measures in a new way of life (New Normal)
  15. https://www.merck.com/news/interim-results-from-phase-2-3-studies-of-molnupiravir-an-investigational-oral-antiviral-therapeutic-for-mild-to-moderate-covid-19-presented-at-the-european-congress-of-clinical-microbiology-i/ "Shows promise" seems to be current description. Mild cases, at home. Is said to inhibit replication of the virus in the body. Not seeing much detail about the science so far.
  16. Yes, it's more likely ISOC manages the various lists; after all they're the ones who surveil the enemies of the state. And Immigration liaises with ISOC, so they have a no-fly list to make sure only the Boss'es of the world get to fly out of Thailand. This was exposed when a MP from a rival party was stopped from flying out of Suvarnabhumi recently.
  17. I wonder how they managed this lottery? Like the annual military conscription?
  18. Seems like the scene at Medpark is much more relaxed today. Most reports on Twitter and FB show sparse crowds, and report short (15 min) time to vaccination.
  19. It seems like a major issue with ROKU is that it doesn't support running a VPN natively. So now you're wedged into providing VPN access for it via your home network. Which in turn requires a secondary router, which can run VPN software. Some can do this off-the shelf, others require flashed firmware. https://www.expressvpn.com/vpn-software/vpn-roku IMO, it might be easier, and cheaper, to get a streaming device on which you can run a VPN client natively. Make sure that device runs apps for the streaming service(s) you subscribe to. Which VPN provider do you use, or do you plan to use? Simply check to see which clients they support. And/or look at which router options may exist with them. Both the Firestick and Chromecast with Google TV run VPN apps from most of the top providers. Both devices are available here. Both have NordVPN apps. There may be other streaming devices, on which a VPN providers Android app can run. I'd like to know which VPN provider has the most reliable solution for geo-blocking: Netflix, Hulu specifically.
  20. "Touch of Evil" 1958. Directed by Orson Wells. Opening shot is legendary.
  21. And yet, you were able to find information on ivermectin? Are you suggesting some sort of nefarious plot to limit coverage on ivermectin? Clearly there's some sort of conspiracy here, just come out and tell us what it is. And how would "more coverage" of ivermectin help? I see lot's of coverage on ivermectin... Huge study supporting ivermectin as Covid treatment withdrawn over ethical concerns https://www.theguardian.com/science/2021/jul/16/huge-study-supporting-ivermectin-as-covid-treatment-withdrawn-over-ethical-concerns Flawed ivermectin preprint highlights challenges of COVID drug studies https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-02081-w Ivermectin COVID-19 Scandal Shows How Vulnerable Science Is to Fraud https://www.sciencealert.com/ivermectin-study-controversy-is-a-huge-wake-up-call-for-fraud-in-covid-19-science
  22. 85% is a bridge too far. Not realistic to think we can get there. 70% was a stretch, and required maximum effort, and a singular focus. Right now, 70% is looking like June 30, 2022. 85%? Nope.
  23. How many of those received Favipiravir? A small percentage. And why is it that "we can safely say that Favipiravir played a significant role"? Then why treat these patients with Favipiravir? So your position is that Favipiravir can save everyone, except those who died? Convenient.
  24. In vitro. Brilliant. The rest of this post contains the usual vague references to "it's better than something else", and "it may not kill you in the doses required to potentially combat COVID", and that it has "shown promising results in clinical studies". That's great news for you. Unfortunately it didn't help the 149 people who passed in the most recent reporting period. I'm assuming most passed in a hospital environment, in which case they were receiving Favipiravir.
  25. Sellers set their pricing on Lazada. Lazada offers tools to help sellers set, manage and adjust pricing. Pricing tools can be automated to do things like match and undercut competitors' prices on the same platform. Or vary price downward to deplete inventory on a SKU. Not sure these tools support browser type or device type differentiation? And not sure how much effort goes into "differential pricing" on a commodity item in the 49 - 75 baht price range?
