  1. Exactly, well that a one or two other significant "things". Not exactly rocket science, but maybe for the author it's some sort of revelation?
  2. He's using a euphemism. He means "proof of vaccination". Paper, plastic, digits. All OK.
  3. Can you share the list of no foreign transaction fee debit cards which you use? Do these reimburse out-of-network and foreign ATM fees? You need to have a Capital One 360 Checking account to get the Debit card, right?
  4. Norawich was found guilty of nine counts… Driving a vehicle without a license plate. Using a vehicle with unpaid annual registration tax. Using a vehicle without third-party damage insurance. Using a vehicle which lacked equipment e.g. wing mirrors. Failing to keep motorcycle in the left lane. Speeding. Driving without consideration of the safety of others. Not following road markings. Reckless driving causing injury to people or property and reckless driving causing death. Amazing they found the softest pair of kid gloves with which to handle the young policeman.
  5. Give them a "50"? That's what they do in thai "schools". IMO the Proctor should probably review this before the exam with an oral statement and a demonstration, and review each exam submitted. Anyone with a hard zero should be retested, or made Prime Minister.
  6. from the article... Having launched the traditional Thai sweet into the global spotlight and made Thais proud, even her staunchest critic, Prayut, decided to embrace her. The PM’s aides say Prayut appreciated her contribution to his soft-power policy and conceded he may have misjudged her in the past. Inspired by her performance, the PM said the Culture Ministry was considering whether to send a proposal to UNESCO that mango sticky rice be listed as world heritage. It's simply staggering how out of touch the pm is with the real world. I mean yes, we understand that's a relic of the thai social order, but honestly it still shocking after all these years.
  7. Seems like a good move, plenty of issues to raise, if only to get the regime on their back-foot. Doing otherwise would, IMO, be a dereliction of their duty as the opposition.
  8. Whatever. Who are the other options? (Don't come here peddling anutin or chidchob, please.) The manner in which they ousted the previous government and took control required everyone bow to one man, an incompetent general. He is literally in charge of EVERYTHING (judiciary excluded, but the know they're bread is buttered with green butter) - he's the chairman of every single committee. And while in power, the regime has failed at every turn, including having a path forward. That's the problem when you assume complete control, and are incompetent. Clock shows it's ~ 20:00 ish
  9. Like any blanket policy statement, issued by amateurs or seasoned policy geeks, there are major flaws in your proposal. Hundreds of thousands of small trucks are the lifeblood of the thai economy. By immediately increasing the fuel price by what, 50%, the economy will break, and people will go hungry. Try again.
  10. Might that also be an issue with other U.S.-based financial service companies?
  11. The regime barely averted a disaster in February - trucks were queued up to blockade Bangkok, by caving, instead of negotiating, and guaranteeing the 30 THB/l price for a limited period. But the truckers now know they have the regime boxed in, so what choice does the "government" have? Cough up ten or twenty billion baht for fuel subsidies. Without trucks the whole economy would be severely and negatively affected. And millions would suffer.
  12. "Why Thailand’s soft power is not as successful as South Korea’s?" I'm surprised the author of the op-ed piece, presumably a reasonably edumacated thai citizen needs to ask such a question, unless rhetorically. Any "power', "soft" certainly, needs to be tightly controlled. It cannot be ceded under any circumstances. Just look at the claw-backs since 1932. "Hard" power? Meh. Been there, done that, as recently as 1997. The ultra-nationalists won't let that happen again. That Milli first earned a Defamation charge, and only as a result of some press, was hailed as a soft-power savant tells you everything you need to know. Will be interesting if she is co-opted?
  13. This might explain the continued usage of "Cash Advance"? I forgot Schwab didn't offer a Visa or MC credit card any longer, even though I've been on their site quite often.
  14. Yeah, my guess - the Chime website is not exactly revealing as they seem to slough the extra fee off on Visa or MC - is that this is down to Chime's agreement with Visa.
  15. I sort of assumed that, although others here do get Cash Advances off a credit card, and pay it off immediately before it accrues a single day's interest. But the OP did say that Schwab classified the transaction as a Cash Advance, instead of a withdrawal. That may be down to Schwab's system? So that prompted my question.
  16. Do air side ATMs of Bangkok Airports yield the same rate as the land side ATMs? Yes. The OP is definitely over-thinking this issue. https://aseannow.com/topic/1257806-best-ways-to-withdraw-money-to-pay-for-visa-on-arrival/ But you may be required to display 20,000 THB or equivalent in cash paper money, so be prepared for the possibility. You need a photo for the form, yes there is a photo booth. Your "understanding" is of course flawed. There are ATMs and an exchange booths airside. Both SCB and Kasikorn. They've been there, lurking from your view, "over the years". How the heck would tens of thousands of tourists find the 2,000 cash, in THB only, to pass the VoA entry point?
  17. This is an excellent issue for the opposition to raise. There really is no reason to extend the current COVID Emergency Decree again, currently in effect through 31 May 2022. Normally they would extend it automagically - as they have done in the South ~ 66 times since 2005 - ~ Mid-May, for the period 1 Jun - 31 July. Now the regime is boxed in on this issue a bit.
  18. Amazed Al Jazeera hasn't been banned yet. Thank goodness this wasn't a Netflix documentary.
  19. Meh. Quite the uniformed quick take, given the number of insurance companies here which have gone bankrupt on COVID policies. But yes, it seems like the only purpose of thaiPass is to verify insurance, and maybe vaccination status. Airlines could perform this check at departure. The 300 baht increase in the passenger service charge from 700 baht to 1,000 baht is claimed to be in part to cover the uninsured. The tourism lobby is already asking that thaiPass and insurance be dropped. I assume these will be ~ July 1 latest?
  20. Cool. Now do something useful and give us the winning lottery numbers.
  21. I can't imagine there are a lot of choices air-side? So take what you can get. I think there were some SCB ATMs airside? And there must be some options to get cash for the VoA.
  22. You and ~ 40 million other people. Feel free to put them out of their misery. He's so insecure, and thin-skinned, that this fishing for compliments is embarrassing. Do your job, and quite whining.
