  1. Already a feature in Google Translate. https://support.google.com/translate/answer/6350658?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid
  2. In addition to hotspot, you can use this device NOW via USB or Bluetooth tethering. The iPhone 6 supports USB, and Bluetooth tethering. Just make sure you have a data-capable USB cable. I get full mobile data bandwidth - same speed on my desktop PC as on the phone - using USB Tethering. I think the performance is much better with USB Tethering vs. Hotspot, but this may be phone dependent. For a single device USB or Bluetooth Tethering might be the simplest solution. Sorry, I always forget about this simple option.
  3. Decriminalized 2008 Medical 2012 Recreational 2016 (dates laws/ballot initiatives passed; widespread implementation, esp for recreational took another two years). Tax is pretty high, 17 % - 20%; 20% in my town. Pain, more fees, to pay in other than cash. Retail sales outright banned in ~ 100 towns; who remembers dry towns? No alcohol sales on Sundays? We aren't really even at step 1 here in thailand, even with the recent noise. Medical here is not equivalent to medical in the U.S. It will be a long, long, long, long time before kancha is legal here. 10+ years. In the meantime any tourist/PR push is stoopid and will backfire.
  4. A Law, Regulation, Temporary Law, Emergency Decree, Edict is whatever a person of authority tells you it is. Details like record-keeping are rarely described in detail. The district police and/or Immigration Police can demand whatever records they want. I mean the law is clear that reporting is NOT the responsibility of the resident alien. But Immigration allows resident aliens to self-report the TM.30. Yes, some say the resident alien can be the "possessor of a dwelling place" but I'm not sure that's accurate. How could you "take on" yourself? Section 38. The householder, the owner or the possessor of a dwelling place or a hotel manager, who takes in, as a resident, an alien with permission to temporarily stay in the Kingdom, shall notify the competent official at the immigration office located in the locality in which the house, dwelling place, or hotel is located within twenty four hours from the time the alien has taken residence. If there is no immigration office located in that locality, the police officer at a police station of that locality jurisdiction shall be notified. In a case where the house, dwelling place, or hotel where the alien is staying under paragraph one is located in Bangkok Metropolis locality, such notification shall be made to the competent official at the Immigration Division. The notification mentioned in paragraphs one and two shall be made in accordance with the regulation prescribed by the Director-General. There are often addendums, modifications, even Warnings. The TM.30 was modified June 2020 I think...no need to report if you return to your residence of record. The Royal Thai Police has issued a notification to relax requirements for property owners and hotel managers in Thailand in regards to notifying an immigration office every time a foreign national stays in their property. The change notification to “The Royal Thai Police Notification on Residence of Heads of Household, House Owners, Landlords, or Managers of Hotels, Who Accommodate Foreign Nationals on a Temporary Basis” was published in the Government Gazette on Tuesday, 16 June 2020 and will take effect on Tuesday, 30 June 2020. Under the notification, there is still a duty for landlords and/or hotel owners to submit a T.M.30 form to an immigration office within 24 hours of a foreign national checking in at their premises. However, they are no longer required to resubmit a T.M.30 form every time the same foreign national returns to stay at the same place, which was an onerous requirement under the previous version of notification, issued in 1979. Under the new notification, when the head of a household, property owner, landlord, or hotel manager submits a new T.M.30 form to the immigration office, they will also be required to indicate the period that each foreign national will stay at their premises, i.e., the arrival and expected departure dates. In the event that a foreign national travels and stays in another place on an occasional basis, and then returns to stay at the same premises within the period of stay specified in the T.M.30, then a new T.M.30 will need not be submitted each time they arrive. The new rules are applicable to all foreign nationals who stay in Thailand on any type of visa, including holders of multiple-entry visas and re-entry permits which enable the holders to leave and return to Thailand within their visa validity period.
  5. I successfully submitted my 90-day report to CW yesterday: 24/02/2565 16:30 It was accepted today: 25/02/2565 14:19 LAK SI Final delivery (เบญจวรรณ สารบัญ ตม1/กก2) (Successful)
  6. With just one wired device I might go for the TP-Link MR100 at 1,490 baht. https://www.advice.co.th/product/4g-router-mifi-aircard/3g-4g-router/4g-router-tp-link-tl-mr100-wireless-n300
  7. Six blocks. I'd probably just make the walk, could use some intelligent, less snarky conversation too.
  8. Do they? Really? How long have you been here? Yes, the TM.30 thing did get changed, in part by a few loud voices. Who needs a better mousetrap? They work fine. Ok, maybe if you add a laser! Open to suggestions on bait: cheese or peanut butter, though. Thanks, but no thanks. I've got better things to do. And I still retain my right to whinge. Yes, I know I can leave. As a project manager I might have asked for a few focus groups to review the system, offering them a gift card and lunch for participating at a decent hotel conference room in Bangkok. It would have been like herding cats but some issue would have surfaced. Giving honest, truthful feedback here is very, very, very risky. See hotel reviews. Doing so for an Immigration service seems extremely dangerous. But keep feeding the beast. We're so proud of you.
  9. So many tweaks, so little time. Seen the building name tweak, the room number tweak, the address tweak (hyphen or slash) but this is a new one. May I ask how you decided to try this? Was it the last on a long list? What were you going to try next if this didn't work? Change the font color from black to the always acceptable blue? In the instructional video the middle name field is left blank, because, I assumed Sujin Park didn't have a middle name. Maybe we need a new thread on Tweaks? FWIW we fell into the same trap with the old systems, forever looking for tweaks.
  10. Sorry, what are you on about? I mean besides odd movie reviews. Certainly NOT Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau's best effort. "Odd Couple" #1, "Fortune Cookie" #2. Who's not following the rules? I already mailed my 90-day report to Chaeng Watthana, as I have done since 2019. Before that I was able to use the old online reporting system. Which Queen are you referring to? And mightn't that be "Public School"?
  11. Could be the UI or Widget on your phone, assume you have it set to Automatic: Settings, System, Date & Time. What's the phone make and model? Are you using a Widget? Is this a new discrepancy? https://www.androidcentral.com/why-wont-my-phone-keep-right-time
  12. Do I need a Work Permit to perform this seemingly full-time job? Medium Rare thank you. I just mailed in my report, not going to spend two weeks "tweaking", only to be left with the trek to MTT.
  13. It's more cultural than about "intelligence", whatever that is. thailand is about 100 years behind in many respects. And moving farther back.
  14. Is that a bone-saw in your pocket or are you just happy to be in thighland? 15. At least the back packers will be able to get hemp clothing on the cheap. Just don't smoke those sandals.
  16. Was the Ukrainian Ambassador to Thailand ever replaced? https://aseannow.com/topic/1218898-ukrainian-ambassador-dies-of-heart-attack-not-covid-19-related/ And how are those links he is said to have forged between Thailand and Ukraine holding up?
  17. This is interesting but strange. "Minor Adjustments"? Like what? It's a web site not a tailor shop. And I don't think you can connect if using a VPN. Am thinking the fifth adjustment would have been to purchase an amulet? Or position three bottles of red fanta in the vicinity of your computer?
  18. My shortest is 42 days, longest is 56 days. CW, end-to-end. Currently on Day #2: 25/02/2565 05:37 LAK SI Arrival at post office
  19. Yes, but the grace period applies to in-person reporting. So if you get rejected you'll have to report next week in person.
  20. You're using the old system. For the most part, this discussion is about the new system. https://tm47.immigration.go.th/tm47/#/login https://tm47.immigration.go.th/manual/IndexForeign.html If you used the new system, I think maybe you did... https://tm47.immigration.go.th/manual/VDO/Check_Status_pending.mp4
  21. Personally, and we have a few customers who have asked, we still recommend two separate 1 Gbps lines from two separate companies. Mostly AIS and 3BB. This gives the increased flexibility when one LoS goes red. Note that this doesn't help with a loss of power (electricity). ???? So I'd rather have two 1 Gbps lines, and I do, than one single 2.5 Gbps line. I don't have any devices with > GbE connections. Some long-time customers have negotiated amazing deals, so from the same provider some pay 399 (428) for 1,000/500, while others pay 899 (963) for the exact same package from the same provider. You usually see these 2.5/5/10 GbE interfaces on gaming-centric Main Boards, so maybe it's a thing somewhere (Korea?).
  22. Do you currently have a mobile phone? If so, make and model? Most mobile phones can act as a WiFi Hotspot, sharing the Mobile data connection (WAN) over WiFi to other devices. This would allow you to at least experiment with the technology TODAY. How many devices do you plan to use? Just the one notebook? Do you require a wired ethernet LAN connection? Or are all your devices WIFI-capable? What sorts of applications do you use? Any idea on bandwidth requirements? Speed? Volume? Over what period? Portability? Budget?
  23. ...after seven years. Don't you just love it when a plan comes together. Insert thank you sir may I have another meme here. Still no feedback on Rejected applications. If a person has taken the time to review and reject an application they can take 1 minute to document the reason however cryptically - throw us a bone - to be included in the email. I've seen some reports of this but have my doubts on the veracity of these claims. The mandatory fields, denoted by a red asterisk, are misleading? Are those the only required fields? Are we left to guess which other ones might be required? Yes, we can fill them all in, so maybe just make them all mandatory. Do you need the "building name", and what's with the owner name, is that if you're staying in a house, owned by a thai? What are the acceptable variations in building naming conventions? And what's with Lane/Road? Is that one thing or two? Street, then next main road as is the convention sometimes here? Many registration systems offer checks while completing them, with messages prompting for missing or incorrect data. None here. Is the new system better than the old ones? For me, no. But at least I can submit a report. Based on feedback here and on FB, the new system appears to be much better. That it works seems to shock people who then gush about how great it is. But that's thailand. Yes, the videos are good. They could tone down the keyboard clatter. There are other user-created videos on Youtube which are equally good. Yes, the email system is much improved: quick feedback, close-in reminders, real address not directed to Spam folder. Baby steps.
