  1. Prayut says exiled cop should return to Thailand These are the accommodations awaiting Paween on his return. No reviews, negative or positive on thaihotels dot com, curious.
  2. Do you not know where you are? Maybe check your phone? Reminds me of the joke, "Do you know who I am?"
  3. https://tm47.immigration.go.th/tm47/#/login Coming up for another report soon? Besides the conformation of your submission of a report, you were able to locate and print the Next Report Date form, right?
  4. Police impound Harley. Random police take it out for a joy-ride. Oops, there goes another doctor.
  5. This story was widely covered ~ 2015, and was a HUGE embarrassment for the (at the time) ruling military junta. He will not be getting an honorary degree from CU. The student body president pushing this, Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal, is himself lucky he hasn't been disappeared or forced to flee, yet.
  6. I'm reminded of this nugget... Thai Education Minister: Thai education resembles North Korea The Education Minister and the North Korean Ambassador to Thailand mutually agreed that the education systems of both countries are rather similar and plan to develop ties by educational exchanges. The two agreed that the educational systems of both countries are similar. The similar elements include free 12-year basic education. Moreover, a few students from North Korea come to Thailand to study. https://prachatai.com/english/node/4495
  7. Extradition treaty with Russian Federation. Check. Resumption of diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia. Check. Time to enhance the relations with North Korea? Nice look thailand.
  8. That's like ~ 600 per day. Are there any flights? Direct, non-stop? Yes, I know TG is planning flights to RUH.
  9. Yeah, but how would he know some random seat-mate tested positive? I mean maybe if they were traveling together. I think the OP is asking if the thai authorities are forcibly detaining close contacts from the airplane? Haven't seen any of these stories recently. Yes, there were some early on. For the OP, file this in the "extremely minor thing to worry about".
  10. AFAIK, there are only six slots per day each for retirement (6) and marriage (6) so they sell out quickly. When the new system first popped in early December there were a lot more slots per day for retirement, I think they were at 15 minute intervals. Marriage was six ooer day from the beginning. Current booking window is ~ -30 days, so 23 March is the farthest out date you can book today. Maybe they'll expand that, or add more slots for retirement?

  12. Assume they'd start with imported products first? This is a typical first step, followed by incentives/promotions of production/use of low(-er) sodium formulations (cooking sauces, fish sauce here) in prepared foods. Very few countries have implemented a salt or sodium tax. There was a proposal for a 20% tax on "sugary" drinks here. I think some version was set in place ~ 2018-ish. https://aseannow.com/topic/1000001-higher-taxes-on-sweetened-beverages-to-be-effective-this-month/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8084227/ https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Food-Beverage/Thai-sugar-producers-squeezed-by-drought-and-health-concerns
  13. https://pettable.com/blog/which-airlines-allow-esa-animals Narrow down the airlines by route XXX-BKK, schedule, then check with those few options. I remember when pigs could fly... https://edition.cnn.com/2014/11/30/travel/emotional-support-pig-booted-flight/index.html
  14. While they have many, many "flavors", the Rose flavor has reliable diuretic properties, I think the red box is most popular, and is the default for Cha Yen. I think this "original' red "flavor" tea is processed with with herbs and spices like star anise, tamarind.
  15. Think they've hit their testing (real or drop) ceiling. Recent vax stats, shows the "mix".
  16. I would get a Google Voice number, even better if you can port in an older mobile number. I would get an UltraMobile SIM (eBay, $13), activate it in the U.S. and enable WiFi Calling. Enable International Roaming and WiFi Calling your T-Mobile SIM. You're returning to Thailand on a temporary or permanent basis? My T-Mobile SIM remains in a phone which is turned off. It takes ~ 5 minutes for the phone to come to life and get a roaming signal (AIS in my location - you'll get a message from T-Mo about the costs associated with using your SIM in Thailand). T-Mo has, I think, an automated message blocking system for devices off-net. People who've sent me texts (from/in the U.S.) have reported this feedback to me. I then make a voice call to the T-Mo number (from GV, Talkatone, UM), which rings through - I don't answer. I then send an SMS to the T-Mo number until it goes through, then this SIM is "primed" to receive the OTP. If I left this SIM on net I wouldn't have to do this. Might it come to life fully after a few hours? I think so but I'm rarely that patient. FWIW, SMS is NOT a guaranteed service, it is not store and forward. All the OTPs I receive on GV are short code SMS (SCSMS); they come from five or six-digit "numbers" (used initially as being easy to remember, these are used widely in the U.S. for marketing, promotion, polling, etc.). Six-digit numbers are a pain because you think that's the OTP, at first, and then enter the wrong OTP. I receive OTP SMSes on GV from AirBnB, and several dozen other entities, I have 2FA turned on for everything. Some of these I use daily. Can't speak to Skype's issues; no experience. I prefer a security key but not that many places support this option yet. BofA does. In my case they do, my last ~ 50 OTPs have come in to GV from the same five-digit number. Could be. They do offer other 2FA options. I guess you can use their mobile app https://www.wellsfargo.com/mobile/ (I think WF uses/used Republic Wireless as their bulk SMS provider.) VoIP is perceived as being more vulnerable, security-wise. Perhaps a valid argument, but third-parties can also port your number to their SIM. Most offer the phone call option for the OTP so that will definitely work with GV. T-Mo message back to sender (who is also on T-Mo if that matters)...
  17. <insert spit-take meme here> None. There's probably no overarching "scheme" here as that would require planning, coordination and successful execution. So this isn't a "bullet in the luggage" type scam. Day 1 positives said to be 2 ~ 3 %, with Day 5 closer to 5%. Given all the extra work, and having to deal with peed-off customers, I can't see the real benefit in pumping the numbers. Meh. Tourists gonna stay in hotel rooms anyway. Now if you told me that a specific hotel was experiencing extremely high numbers I might want to investigate the testing house, and associated hospital just to make sure a few aren't pumping the numbers.
  18. What "screen"? PC? Windows? Web? Browser? If translate is not an option (FB comments), then I right click and let Chrome translate. Mobile phone? Android? Screen shot (or camera) then use Google Lens or Translate.
  19. But with UltraMobile, which is a T-Mobile MVNO, and WiFi Calling enabled this is what my home-screen looks like...
  20. I tried again, to enable WiFi Calling with my T-Mo number but couldn't get it to work. No inbound or outbound SMSs, incoming calls rang through, outgoing calls reverted to the Thai GSM network.
  21. Can you share the names of these institutions? https://community.t-mobile.com/accounts-services-4/does-the-prepaid-plan-1-000-minutes-for-100-still-exist-38764 https://www.t-mobile.com/support/plans-features/pay-as-you-go-gold-rewards Can you share how you did this? Mobile app, web, call to CSR? Chat? email? Many MVNOs... UltraMobile has a $3/month plan, they have WiFI calling which works well here. USMobile allows you build your own PAYG plan for as little as $2/month. They also support WiFi calling. I still have my T-Mo $3/day plan (you only pay when you use it, they still don't charge me even when I use it here). $10 every 90 days, so $40 for the year. No WiFi calling with this plan AFAIK. I could never get DIGITS to work: https://digits.t-mobile.com/#/
  22. Maybe the new system can "see" your current/previous report even if it was done in person, or via the post? I mean it must be able to check that if only to verify your current next report date, and approve your ability to submit a new report?
  23. Does Citi know you live in Thailand? Has Citi Thailand ever contacted you? Have you filed FBARs? Do you itemize any Thai bank interest on your 1040? We have to ask how, large is the CC balance? FWIW Citi NA did just sell (end Dec) Citi Thailand to Krung Sri (Bank of Ayudhya), not saying that's relevant the the OPs situation. The obvious solution is to keep the usage and balance to a minimum.
