Cringeworthy. Whoever came up with these should not give up their day job in hopes of a comedy career.

Bangkok Bank app on two phones ?
mtls2005 replied to Tuvoc's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Are you sure? Yes, you can VIEW: a Home phone number you can change this online a Work phone number you can change this online a FAX number ONE SINGLE Mobile phone number (which is partially hidden) And to change your mobile phone number you need to visit your branch, with your passport and fill out forms, sign multiple times and wait for multiple garuda stamps. Would be great to understand the OP's requirement. Is it to transition from one phone to another? This is possible by swapping the SIM and installing the app. Is it to run the app on two phones with different SIM/numbers simultaneously? No. iBanking_Amendment.pdf -

Online Tax Filing Already Accepted
mtls2005 replied to racyrick's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Yeah, this is nearly instantaneous. I didn't check that closely but it seemed like just a few minutes. https://sa.www4.irs.gov/irfof/lang/en/irfofgetstatus.jsp We have received your tax return and it is being processed. If you filed a complete and accurate tax return, your refund should be issued within 21 days of the received date. However, processing may take longer under certain circumstances. Please check here or use our free mobile app, IRS2Go, to check on your refund status. -
The shortlist was: - Armada - Presidents - Brigade - RedHogs - Commanders - RedWolves - Defenders - WFT Four of which have a military bearing. RedWolves was the first choice but some trademark issues I guess. I liked WFT. And I guess the Washington Plantation (Candielanders?), which is in essence what an NFL franchise is, wasn't going to fly. Commanders has a bit too much of a Civil War feel, and no nickname possibility? The "Ders"? Meanwhile Dan Snyder's still the owner so they'll still suck.

The first time I encountered this requirement at CW a few years ago was while seated in front of the IO during an annual ext stay/ret. At first I was confused by the request unsure what she was looking for, but quickly put pen to paper and drew a map. Back then speculation here was that maybe they wanted to see if you really lived there. Since then the requirements have grown, with some reports of a photo of yourself in front of the building with name/address visible; the landlord's thai Id (copy) signed and dated; the blue book (copy); copy of lease; copy of monthly rental bills and receipts; copy of TM30 and a few more things which slip the mind right now. For my most recent ext stay (Oct/2021 CW) I provided a prepared hand-drawn map, and a Google map print-out of the approximate same scale. For the OP I'd go prepared with a hand drawn map and a google map print out, unless someone from Hua Hin has more recent experiences detailing a specific solution?

Correct. Did not say that it was. Did not mean to imply that. I can see how some might get confused. Not sure. I've left IR enabled. Never had any issue. Yes, we've established that WiFi Calling and IR are separate features/options. I have int'l roaming enabled. But DTAC Call has worked well for me over the years. Many, many folks regret not enabling IR before leaving thailand. Obviously more of an issue if NOT using a WiFi calling option. WiFi calling does require the use of an app, and registration via that app.

And disable mobile data, both in the phone and with the network. And consider a travel SIM as a back-up. One example: https://www.dtac.co.th/en/gointer/

DTAC pre-paid sim with 12 months unlimited data from Lazada
mtls2005 replied to grain's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I was specifically asking about adding a data package to an existing SIM. The delta for me (365 days/1 Mbps) was 1,800 vs. 1,190, so significant but certainly not 4X. I get why this is, even though the additional revenue would be equivalent they want to both capture new subs - an important metric, and keep current customers somewhat captive with higher rate data plans. As someone mentioned using two SIMs might be the best of both worlds? -
Yes, as long as everyone else has Duo. I think the OP is looking for a way to make/receive calls from Thai numbers to his Thai number. As clokwise mentions, WiFI calling is the best solution. Calls made from thailand to your thai number will ring through at in-country on-lan rates. And you can make calls back to thailand on plan. You need a WiFi signal, and shouldn't stray too far from that signal while on a call. Same-same SMSes. https://www.dtac.co.th/en/info/dtac-call.html https://www.ais.th/4g/vowifi/en/ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eggdigital.femjo&hl=en&gl=US Lastly, enable international roaming before leaving.

Benjakitti Forest Park Opening Date & Current Access Points
mtls2005 replied to Siamesepiggster's topic in Bangkok
Quite a few longish threads here already...the new park is being developed in phases (5?), with two or three at or near conmpletion https://aseannow.com/topic/1241226-expansion-of-benjakitti-forest-park-to-be-completed-in-february-next-year/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHM5CfUz8dA Access via the green mile to Soi 10 (there is a walkway into the new park from the green mile at Duang Phitak Rd. but not sure if that's open yet), from Ratchadapisek Road/the old/existing lake portion, maybe up from Rama 4 into the old lake park. -

Wisest advice an Americans can get. Never understood why anyone would DD SSA, but maybe it's easy for them, and they are nailed down in thl forever. State Department Federal Credit Union is open to anyone, I have no experience with SDFCU. But many here have reported satisfaction with them https://www.sdfcu.org/membership Yeah, that's an unacceptable answer from a renowned and leading bank. A member here is an employee I think, and an unofficial ambassador of sorts. Perhaps they can help? https://aseannow.com/topic/1248595-can-bangkok-banks-ny-branch-still-move-money-as-an-ach-to-thailand/#elControls_17156771_menu See the third post, second reply, in that thread for contact/pm. I'd also check in with SSA in Manila, and see what they say. Maybe (other) banks here allow incoming transfers to be deposited and then cleared when you return?
