  1. If he only he smoked cannabis. Would have driven slowly and been caught when he stopped at the first McD's.
  2. Can we germinate? This kerfuffle is amazing. This guy is said to be the top legal mind in the country, and given his credentials (WiKi) He studied law at the Faculty of Law, Thammasat University, graduating with an honours degree, and was admitted to the bar by the Thai Bar Association. He continued his studies in the United States, completing his Master of Laws (1974) and Doctor of Juridical Science (1976) from the University of California, Berkeley. he is. And he's essentially the AG. And yet, he and his staff can't make a quick study of this issue and offer a firm recommendation. What a joke. Cannabis, as most know it, will not be legalized here. If it is, I will eat my shoe, once the munchies kick in.
  3. The TV supports WiFi. The TV has a 100 Mbps ethernet port. (Most assume they have GbE.) WiFi will likely far outperform ( ~ 500 Mbps) ethernet. Maybe slow your roll? Do you have broadband? A service provider's router? Or is your internet access provided by someone else off a single ethernet cable? If this then yes, you'll need a hub/switch/router. Maybe get a WiFi router to spread the single ethernet connection? Is that ethernet connection 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps? More details on your network set-up would yield better recommendations.
  4. Did you load those? Did they come pre-loaded out of the box? That is a high (top?) end unit. Can you briefly summarize your 4K/UHD experiences? Specifically on AIS Play, HBO Go, Netflix, Prime.
  5. Some providers restrict WiFi calling registration and access based on IMEI, I think AIS does restrict access to a specific group of phone makes and models. This is mainly down to support issues and not technical issues. DTAC Call app runs on any phones. This is the one I've used the most. Not sure about TrueMove H's WiFi calling app/HW requirements. And UltraMobile, a U.S. MVNO, supports WiFi calling on any phone. Some of us use that service for roaming-free access here in Thailand. Mainly to receive OTP SMSes.
  6. I haven't followed this story closely, seen the headlines of course. I think AT&T and Verizon have paused 5G provisioning in/near airports?
  7. Now do 5 thai lads methed-out. Methamphetamines are the major problem. Nearly every week there is a bust with hundreds of thousands of pills, worth hundreds of millions of baht. The prisons are filled with meth users, not cannabis users. Even if cannabis were legalized (recreational), the domestic uptake would probably be small to insignificant. If cannabis normalization helped wean the younger folks off meth that would be a huge win.
  8. The initial uptake on this visa, once the copious rules, regs are published will be like the first tranche of the SmahtVisa (2018), of which there were a rumored 29 issued.
  9. In words attributed to the late J.P. Morgan, “If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it” Real, lawyer-types in Bangkok offer one-stop concierge service (pick-up, drop off, 90-day reporting) to well-heeled ex-pats and foreign workers and their families. One merely needs to sit in the L area at CW for more than 5 minutes to observe this. I do know a few who use the services of a particular lawyer, and have for at least 15 years. I gagged when told the price. For all others I'd say "Nay". Once you're on the hook with an agent, well get used to it. That's assuming they don't lose your passport. Most in the L area doing marriage extensions seem to be agent-less; they are easy to identify obviously, lugging their massive photo albums. Oh, and the wife. What is your reporting office? Plenty of experiences here, might highlight any issues.
  10. "The truth is out there. I want to believe." (insert UFO image here) Do you offer lottery numbers and astrology readings? Any stock picks? I don't think anyone claimed or is claiming that COVID extensions would be given "forever"? At a minimum I think they will be extended 25 Jan and 25 Mar, and assuming border normalization, then that might be it. Anyway, this thread is about a special type of visa, which owing to its potential length (270 days - little FH experiences to date), and clear condition of no extension/conversion is in a bit of a grey area. I think Imm should grant qualifying COVID extensions (as if it were a TR/TVE) on the STV, but that's just my opinion. IMO a senior Imm official should weigh in with a decision and broadcast that kingdom-wide. Likelihood that happens? ZERO.
  11. Where, which Immigration office, did these many people get get a 60 day COVID extension, on a previously twice extended STV? I mean I'd probably try that office, right. There is a poll on this issue on FB, with quite a load of detail... Seven people reported success, four reported denial, three didn't try and left before 270 days. That's just the first thing that popped on a search, there are more results. As with most things YMMV.
  12. Doesn't seem like a hugely lucrative criminal enterprise? Yes, this is heinous and illegal, and the full weight of the law should be applied. But these guys don't seem like a Tiger Mafia? Now running a Tiger Temple, breeding (sustainability?), showing, selfies, entrance fees, harvesting, seems like organized crime to me. Good thing that would never ever happen in thailand. And what's with the penises? Do I even want to ask how this are prepared, preserved, packaged, used?
  13. Well that didn't take long. Not the record zero to Nazi elapsed time here, but close.
  14. Exactly. Maybe make it a donation? Have the jar right there at arriving immigration. Maybe have a photo of some sparkling new coral reef? Then folks like you wouldn't be limited to 300 baht.
  15. Awesome diatribe. Related to the lottery how exactly? Wrong thread maybe? Keep grinding that axe.
  16. Edited to add, when you do not have a WiFi signal, you revert to GSM if available. But no in-call hopping. Obviously, if on a WiFi call maybe don't plan on traveling too far. ????
  17. Yes, but some conflation here between 3BB's fiber broadband service and their Streaming Android Box/hardware-service called GigaTV. https://fiber.3bb.co.th/en/3bbgigatv/ Which has HBO Go. (And says it has Chromecast built in. If so, casting from a phone has a lot of benefits IME.) Maybe they restrict adding Netflix to this hardware (hide it in the Play Store app), although you should be able to s deload the Netflix apk?
  18. So most of the flights you TOOK... Ancient history. And I need the receipts.
  19. Any growing by the general public here must be rigorously approved and authorized before planting. And is subject to government (local/national), legal, police, scientific oversight. And you're given approved seed/seedling stock. So this threshold can be controlled, as it is throughout the worked where growing hemp is approved. Spot inspection, test, over 0.2 % THC, off to jail.
  20. Yeah I think someone effed up. They struck hemp and cannabis from the Narcotics code in Category 5 but forgot to modify the underlying lists, to legalize stems, shoots, leaves, plants 0.2% THC, and keep THC (flowers/buds/Nugs) on the list. (5)category V consists of narcotics which are not included in category I to category IV such as marijuana, kratom plant. (16) Oops. The Psychotropics Act defines and prohibits THC, so there's that. meet with NCB board tomorrow
  21. I think it will be embedded in the PSC on any airline ticket. So thais will be paying this 300 baht surcharge, along with the existing 700 baht PSC. The existing 700 baht PSC is designated as "TS" on the e-ticket pricing breakout. Assume they'll keep the same designation, just increase it to 1,000 baht, then AoT will trough it. That was the beauty of the old cash (500 baht at the time) departure fee. Foreigners could be charged while thais could pass Go. thais finding out they'll be paying the increased fees...
  22. It has a bill, webbed feet, walks and quacks. Not exactly Sherlockian? But thank you.
