  1. Choose one: Ooh, You're collection is almost complete. Start sniffing for the sinostuff. B-I-N-G-O One more and you get a free mask, personally delivered sans wrapper from the Minister of Public Health.
  2. Wouldn't the PDF be sufficient? Better? Or even just log in using a mobile browser, retrieve the submittal/receipt, and show those pesky BMW drivers you're an alien in good standing.
  3. Until folks start reporting 95% success from Bangkok I'm resigned to filing by mail. Other than addressing the envelopes, no small task BTW, it's fairly simple. They return all the documents, so just add a new TM47 (just one change to the PDF), the current receipt, return envelope stamped EMS with 3x15 baht stamps, and a short walk to the post office. Fairly stress-free. Would I like to return to the days of olde, when I successfully used the "old" system a dozen times? Sure.
  4. I used the PIN option for ages, but lost this ability this week with a recent Windows update. I added a new PIN. Settings, Accounts Sign-in Options. You can also use a Security Key. I think you can remove any log-in/PIN from your account? At least they aren't charging a monthly subscription fee, yet.
  5. Does your current modem/router support 5 GHz WiFi? If not, I'd try to wrangle a new one with the upgrade request. Normally you have to request a change in package once you've satisfied your current contract. So they can simply re-provision your service, and then change you monthly bill. You should upgrade, in case that wasn't obvious. No need to go to a shop, unless you want to get out and meet new people, they can remotely re-provision your service, or dispatch a tech to install the new modem.
  6. At least it was a quick rejection, within 24 hours. Some folks are waiting 7-ish days for acceptance or rejection, from Bangkok. In addition to the 7-day grace period for reporting in person, I would think proof of an on-line submittal (with rejection) might mitigate any potential fine for a filing after the 7 day grace period?
  7. We're operating under the impression that local offices review (manually, or automagically) each submission. And many still appear to be getting a variation on the rejection for a mismatch on the valid extension of stay. Sharing the office used for both successful and unsuccessful filings with the "new" system seems like a minor ask. It might allow others to gauge their potential success rate and plan accordingly. We're seeing more and more successful reports, especially from various corners of the kingdom. Not so many from Bangkok, yet. Hard to tell, quite honestly, if this is an improvement? Many folks used to "old" systems, web and app, fine for a period, until they couldn't.
  8. The booster is said to be Pfizer, I think that's all they (govt) have for mRNA right now. The look-back period is now 31 October. Needle 3 booster vaccine for vaccinators Astra+Astra/Sinovac or Sino Farm+Astra/Sinovac or Sino Farm+Pfizer before 31 Oct. 20 can only choose from Bang Sue Central Vaccination Center only https://app.dtac.co.th/vaccine.index.html
  9. Hopefully the resulting internet outages will not follow the normal thai construction schedules.
  10. If you had a time machine wouldn't you make a boatload more money making more time machines and selling them? Or selling "rides"? This system (mobile service provider) has been in place for a few months so not sure what's new here? Other than the three month cut-off, used be prior to 31 July. The new cut-off is 31 October. And it's still just for sinostuff/AZ. Still not seeing boosters for Pfizer 2X yet, and yes, I mean Pfizer as a booster.
  11. Two quick notes: Note the Saturday games (Sunday AM here) starting this week. ~ 100 players on the COVID list as of today. 12. Will look forward to more on these new criteria. Hotel (AQ/ASQ) rooms will be less expensive, but definitely out of pocket, and not covered by insurance. ~ 30,000 - 60,000 all in for 10 days. And might consume the bulk of a planned vacation itinerary.
  13. Aspirational? Not necessarily representative of what might be available.
  14. But admit it, the successful "Registration" procedure was oddly satisfying. At least I found it so - something, albeit fleeting actually worked, as do most who seem to love sharing that thrilling aspect of this new "system(-ic failure)". But I'm optimistic they'll eventually get this working reliably, before most of us pass away. Whoever thought that replacing a broken system with an equally broken system was a good idea is, well supremely thai.
  15. I was enthralled with The French Dispatch. Brilliant. This is quirky, even by Wes Anderson standards, so best avoided unless you enjoy films from this director. An extended take on long stories from a New Yorker-like magazine, run by an ex-pat in a fictionalized Paris (Ennui sur Blase). The cast is simply staggering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcPk2p0Zaw4
  16. How many instances of close-contact detention and non-insurance covered payment are we talking about? Three? Five? Ten? With ~ 150,000 arrivals, the odds seem almost infinitesimal? That said, the OP seems to be looking for some sort of guarantee, and I think that is impossible so best to put off your travel to Thailand.
  17. Did you receive J&J? In Thailand? As part of the French Embassy's efforts to vaccinate some of their citizens back in June? Thai FDA approved J&J and there was some talk about orders, but don't think those came to pass so not a lot of locals with J&J. Those vaccinated here, or outside of Thailand (many wealthy thais did vaccine runs and j&J was a referred option early on due to single dose), may need to sort their own boosters. In the U.S. I think there is a J&J booster, and that Pfizer or Moderna can also be used as a booster. So finagling a Moderna (paid) or Pfizer (gov't) may be the best/only options?
  18. thailand's social contract is based on inequality, it's a feature not a bug and is baked into the very foundation. Pyramidal in shape, the folks closer to the top are more equal than the folks huddled at the bottom: the poor, indigent, stateless, LGBTQ, handicapped, migrant workers, darker-skinned et al. If there was any sort of even quasi-equality the whole house of cards would fail, spectacularly. Significant effort goes into maintaining this illusion.
  19. https://app.dtac.co.th/vaccine.index.html For general people aged 18 years and over, both Thai and foreigners Needle 3 booster vaccine For those who have vaccinated 2 doses of Sinovac or Sino Farm, can choose any injection center / For those who have received 2 doses of Astra within July 31, can choose only at Bang Sue Central Vaccination Center.
  20. Has anyone contacted MedPark? I was going to wait until early January before doing so. I think many of us are looking at a 6-month date of late Feb early-Mar? While Pfizer 1X is available now as a booster for sinostuff/AZ, it is not, AFAIK, available for Pfizer 2X, yet.
  21. Yes, perhaps I didn't voice this strongly enough. (I have two Google Voice numbers.) Get a Google Voice number, and Pro Tip: if you can port in an existing mobile number to GV all the better. This is pretty much foolproof in guaranteeing folks see this as a real mobile number. Most lookups show the initial block purchase, and rarely keep up with the millions of port-ins and outs. You'll need a mobile number to register with GV, maybe use your new UltraMobile/USMobile number? Or port in your Verizon number. I wish I had done that before I left.
  22. Personally, I would have hung out in town, maybe breakfast before heading back to Queens ~ 7 AM on the subway. Safety in numbers. Or just splurged on an uber/lyft.
  23. Vaping is a big part of New Zealand's smoking cessation plans, The Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products (Vaping) Amendment Act 2020. Not safe, but better than cigarettes, and useful weaning people off cigarettes. One assumes the product being vaped would be carefully controlled, but given the vaping oils I see on sale in the markets here I doubt it. I used to see more thais vaping, fewer these days, but that's probably just anecdotal. Also pretty amazing how few people smoke these days. Definitely a lot lower than I would have guessed, although it does seem like more foreigners smoke here than elsewhere. Not sure why that is? I think the average person inherently understands that smoking is unhealthy, unless maybe they live in France. Burning god knows what and then inhaling purposefully seems really weird. Rarely do people light stuff on fire and breath the smoke, but packaged and marketed the right way, voila.
  24. A shockingly positive and heartfelt article about what appears to be a thoughtful, caring, highly intelligent person who is familiar with many/most/all of the issues facing sex workers here. They should probably have a lot more "government" responsibility?
