Maybe cut an 82 year old a bit of slack; demonising him is OTT at that age.
Three times caught stealing! I dont think so. Unless he has been medically diagnosed with Kleptomania.
At 82 he should be setting a good example not one of taking things which belong to someone else. -

Same, like all these anti this or anti that lecturers, always taking their advice beyond the extremes, totally ignoring individual freedoms.

Very sad. We all, anyhow most, have done regretable things in our lives, which may have led to a bad end. I, for one have been tanked up many times but awoken safely. So, I say, "there for the grace of God go I".
My condolences to all his family and loved ones. RIP poor Theo.

Dreaming! Thailand is so far behind advanced countries when it comes to tech. Most web-sites are so poor in their quality and functionality. I am talking about those of major companies, forget about the smaller ones.
It might be helpful if more emphasis was put on Thai people learning good English, Thai teachers included. Thailand is behind its neighbours in Vietnam and Cambodia, in this respect.
A ministry ought to be created specifically for this purpose.

The most likely cause was that the baht bus pulled away before the passenger took his seat. thereby jolting him backwards. The fact that the driver sped away when the public were shouting at him to stop is reprehensible and, for that alone, he should serve a long prison sentence.

i could never understand the attraction to alcohol. it can kill you, make you act stupid, ruin relationships and you feel like crap the day after. its for people who are afraid to be themselves. crutch.
You are probably correct but its about freedom of choice!
I drink alcohol, maybe because I am afraid to be myself. crutch. LOL 🙂 -
Trying to pass off forged currency, often in huge amounts, is a theft of the highest order. All thefts reverberate to the general public, who have to incur the costs of such. A long prison sentence is wholly deserved.

A big part of any price is the cost of transportation. Naturally the heavier the item, the more the transportation. A durian fruit, which is heavy, here, say 500 baht, would cost 5.000 in London. The couple should not be outraged but should be more aware of simple economics. Always look for produce which is more locally.

Punishment, maybe, but utterly disproportionate, which reveals that human rights have no value in Thailand.
And embassies/Foreign Affairs depts, should do their job, issue warnings against Thailand and/or provide assistance to their nationals whose lives are at risk while processed by immigration.
This Human Rights BS is why there is so much dreadful behaviour in the world.

"Jamie Morton was teaching English in Thailand when he got entangled in the local drug and alcohol scene."
It wasn't the alcohol for which he was arrested!!

Why drive it underground again. The weed lovers will still get their supplies, thereby increasing related crimes. The government ought to licence it out at a fee of, say, an initial 5 million baht, an annual fee of, say, 1 million baht, and a 200% duty. These figures are guesswork, but a closer study could be made.
This would considerably reduce the number of outlets, and as the prices would have to reflect the higher establishment costs, it would considerably reduce the number of potential customers.-

If the family doesn't have money to take his body back to the UK, then why not just do the same disposal thing here? Why beg to others?

Heroin kills! Persons who trade it are trading in people's misery. Now this woman who would have been better jailed for life is trying to make money from her misdeeds.

In a pivotal meeting attended by the Prime Minister and three senior ministers, PM Srettha Thavisin announced that cannabis shops in Thailand are to be shut down by April 1, 2025.
He has called for the reclassification of cannabis as a scheduled narcotic substance by the end of 2024. This comes as part of a larger strategy to clamp down on drug usage in Thailand.
The Prime Minister has advocated for stricter police action and treatment measures for drug addicts.
Thavisin earlier expressed strong opposition to cannabis liberalisation in an interview with France 24. His remarks alarmed then Minister of Public Health Cholnan Srikaew, who questioned whether the PM’s views were in line with government policy. This disagreement may have led to Cholnan's subsequent removal from the cabinet.
The planned reclassification of marijuana will likely unsettle the burgeoning cannabis industry, as it effectively nullifies the 2022 statute proposed by former Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.
The law had exempted police from criminal proceedings related to marijuana. Thavisin’s proposed changes would permit action against individuals selling and using cannabis.
In a recent development, newly appointed Minister of Public Health Somsak suggested public consultation on the matter, while a bill is being drafted to regulate marijuana use as a non-scheduled substance.
However, any confusion or ambiguity in drug regulation is exactly what Srettha wants to avoid. He sees the cannabis trade as a threat to the country and argues that it brings more economic negatives than positives.

Vaping is NOT smoking and not harmful to those exposed to it. Certainly less harmful than the pollution we experience regularly in Thailand.
However it is not particularly pleasant to those exposed to it and, MORE importantly, if it is banned on air flights then she is breaking the rules and should be reprimanded.

Giving the wife's family is all part of the Thai culture, as it is in many parts of the world. However in India it is the reverse the bride's family has to pay a dowry to the groom, which it is why, sadly, some families kill their daughters at birth.
The amount you pay is relative to the amount that the daughter is financially worth to the family. If it was, for example, a famous actress, then the dowry would be millions of baht.Quite often the family will ask for a lot more than they expect to receive and will agree to give you the excess back. They need to show off to their relatives and friends that their daughter was considered to be more valuable.
You say that you never saw any of the money; well it was NOT a loan, it was a payment to the parents, for them to do whatever they like with it.If you dislike the Thai culture, then better you find a Western wife but, be warned, it will cost you a lot more in the long run. lol.

They were prepared to tarnish the reputation of an innocent waitress.
They should be exposed to the full weight of the law, with a minimum of withdrawing their visas and expelling them from Thailand.-

What's the punishment for noncompliance? Having to listen to a recording of Anutin giving a speech in Thai for an hour?
Or a compulsory renewal of a Thai driving licence!

Of those who drink, Thailand attracts the beer drinking tourists
For those who like dining with good wines and champagne, Thailand is a no no place for tourists.
Vietnam (and practically anywhere else) a much better choice.

I wonder if the dealer who sold them the the e-unicycles explained that they weren't allowed on the Thai roads?

The a*hole who killed one of our drivers and 2 French customers because of his dangerous driving received a 5000 baht fine and no jail time. Fair?
You do not give details of the incident or a view of where the blame lies. It can therefore be assumed, from the penalty, that the poor souls who lost their lives were at fault.
