Update: I was able to use the transit gate no problem. But, interestingly, a friend I made who had the exact same flights as me and has an indian passport, was made to go through immigration. They were going to deny him entry because he didnt have a visa to enter thailand (no visa exmpt for him?). After a bit of common sense talking though, the immigration office actually let him through and they escorted him to security and he went through as normal without any issue - He was quite surprised that they were leniant and quite nice to deal with.

I was in Thailand from March 2020 until end of sept 2022 on visa exempt+covid extensions. Since then ive been between vietnam and cambodia. I would like to return to Thailand for 2 weeks, this month. I will have been out of Thailand for 56 days approximately. Will I have an issue on entry via BKK? I will have outward ticket back to vietnam and vietnam visa printout in hand, if it makes a difference. Reason I ask is, I have this vague memory of someone telling me theres a rolling 180 day rule similar to the schengen zone, meaning I wouldnt be able to enter due to having been in thailand for more than 180 days in the last year. Is that right?

I purchased through traveloka, and there it states that it is two separate tickets. I'll find out if that is truly the case when I go to check-in with air asia tomorrow, as it is 1 ticket if I had booked with them (but $30 more).

Do you think your 200 baht a day includes insurance? Do you have your own insurance? In this circumstance - who do you think is responsible and who do you think should lose out?

So I stayed 2.5 years on covid exensions until 21 sept, im now in cambodia and the cheapest way for me to get to Vietnam is via DMK! Anyway, its 2 separate flights, with air asia. Cambodia > DMK Then 3 hours later, DMK > Vietnam I suspect I'll be denied entry into Thailand because of my recent long stay on covid extensions. But, as I have a pre-booked flight out of Thailand, if denied, will be able to board my pre-booked flight, or is there some automatic process where I'd be returned to Cambodia? Cheers

Do you know if its yet possible to upgrade this to a mainland visa and extend it in country? I really want to spend some months in Vietnam to visit someone but jesus whats VN's problem with tourist visas now?

I flew in from BKK 2 weeks ago (21st sept). no insurance requirement. In fact, there were no requirements at all, just a valid passport. Was asked by airline about onward travel, told them i would exit by bus. All good.

I can give you my first hand experience on 21st sept with my UK passport, flying from BKK to Danang... no visa required and was given 15 days. You didnt say which airline, but I flew with VietJet. They did ask about my plan to leave vietnam, which i said would be by bus, no problem.

Yes, this is my experience currently. Everyone is nicer than normal to me, from extra food, free drinks and just people generally going out of their way to be polite. More so than in any other part of Thailand I've been in. I'm not sure how that will feel longer term, but right now it's great.

Honestly, I had no idea about the risk of violence or bombings in Hat Yai, it has never come up in conversations with locals in Lipe or Here in Hat Yai over the last 6 weeks. I've certainly not felt at risk in any way whatsoever, although this thread does explain the armed checkpoint when entering the city. But Phuket has one of those, so it didnt really register.

The flight is 2.35am, so I'd be looking at checking in 3 hours+ before which would be on the 21st effectively.

I believe you, but what is this stamp? Overstay 1 day doesnt give any problems whatsoever in the future? I want to come back next as early as possible next year.

My extension of stay expires on 21st Sept. I've found a flight from BKK to Korea leaving at 2.50am on the 22nd that would suit me quite well. Am I right in thinking that I can "exit" thailand in the airport and stay until my flight the next day, without overstaying? is there an official time limit on this and is it airport specifc?

What is it you love about it? it's a shame that I only came here 5 days ago, after 30 months in Thailand. I've been wondering where to stop and live and I think this place suits me well. But unfortunately my time is up and I need to leave and come back with a different visa.

I've been in Hat Yai for 5 days now, I've literally seen 2 other farang in total and they were together. It's not like i've been hiding away either, i've been around various parts of the city. So, where are you? ???? I almost feel like a celebrity here edit: why is the line above in bold?

second stamp for what? you will have used your tourist visa or visa exempt extenion prior to getting a covid extension, so there is no further option to extend.

I've never needed anything tm30 related in any of my 13 last covid extensions at chiang mai, phuket, bangkok or samui.

I will be leaving Hat Yai (and Thailand) very soon for a 4 month trip in Laos, Viernam etc. I would like to come back to Hat Yai potentially long term and I am wondering if there are any education visa options here?

The Laos eVisa site suggests that an ATK test is require for those without the covid 19 drug. If I'm coming by land to Vientienne, where would I get one of these that would qualify?
