It is possible. And often done where the Wife/Thai Partner retains "Ownership" of the land but leases the land and house to the Farang party for a period of thirty years. This lease arrangement is usually formalized by registering the arrangement with the Land Dept.
That's the land taken care of.
For your vehicle... I've not heard of any joint arrangement but as a Farang with a legal right to live in the Kingdom, you can register cars, trucks or motorcycles in your own name anyway.

There is one matter rarely spoken of and that is the matter of land/house ownership.
If you intend to let your wife drive your scooter around town or on the highways outside town I would strongly advise you get her to make a legal will clearly delineating what happens to "your" land and house upon her demise.
Good luck.

Reverse Osmosis filters are available from all the builders suppliers and range in price
I would recommend that you install a main line filter on the invoming main as this will prolong the life of the RO filters which can be quite expensive.

From what I hear, payback looks something like 15 years without an income from selling into the grid and about 12 years with such income.
I don't see it as a viable proposition just yet.
We do have a solar water heater though, which I would not be without.

Thank you Chaang Noi
I find it very refreshing when posters bring their original post to a conclusion.

Regs state that overtime is calculated at the %'s I have before. Hourly rate is deemed to be 1/240th of monthly.
-
Local visages and Hill Tribe folks can normally be hired for around 250Baht/day for light or menial tasks, grass cutting, brush clearing that kind of thing.
The official Labour Department rate is three hundred per day but there are others considerations. eg. If you feed and/or house your maid or worker the regulations permit you to deduct the costs from sslary including electric and water consumption.
The downside (cost-wise) is that to make such a foal employment arrangement the the maid is also eligible for overtime. Overtime is calculated at 150% hourly rate for weekdays and 200%!on Sundays Public Holidays are 300%
There was a policy a few years ago that permitted the employer to employ for a specific contract period to avoid dome costs, mainly severance pay (redundancy). That was soon scuttled though when regs were clarified to state that anyone employed for a period in excess of 119 days was automatically deemed to be "permanent" and thus paid in full for everything.

Sorry, I meant monkies, not minnies

I just escaped from yet another trip to hospital in Chiang Mai. The cleaning maid, not the nursing staff, we're all Thai Yai hailing from Sipsong Panna.
The surprising part of the story is that when I asked them what salary they were receiving they answered very clearly 300 Baht/Day. It Wasn't so long ago that imported (transient?) workers were not given the same salary and privileges as their local cousins which led to heir employment in the first place.
Definitely need to start factoring these numbers into the new budget. Unless of course we need Minnie's, in which case the old peanut rates will probably suffice.

There's a great veg and fruit market just East of the old bus station called Kart Sirigorn.
All the usual fresh foods but don't know prices.
(Kart = Northern dialect for Talad)

There's an Agricultural store about 100 M south of the Mae Korn (Little Duck) junction. It's on the northbound side.
They have a good range of 3M masks including refills.
Good luck.

It is very, very difficult to get vets to "put down" even cancer ridden, crippled dogs let alone healthy breeding capable animals.
I suggest contacting some of the plethora of Thailand breeders and see if the will give them a home.
I wouldn't hope to get them back though.
Breeders are best found in one of the many "Sat Liang" magazines available in newsagents. Most, from recollection, are in the Pattaya/cholburi area.
Sorry but we just have too much dog to help you ourselves.

There's a guy opposite the entrance to Wiang Inn who has some pick-ups lined up. No idea of rates and insurance no doubt questionable but ?!?!

I am pleased that I am not alone in being a fan of Thai Government hospitals. I had colon surgery there in Ch Rai and have been cleared of any traces of the problem that led to the surgery being necessary.
I have also recently had good experiences at the Ch Mai Sriphat Hospital which is also Governmental being the teaching hospital of the Ch Mai university.
Yes, there are queues, but often it seems that they are better equipped than their private cousins. Having said that a self mixed cocktail of private CAT scans of ultrasound scans taken to the specialists in the hospital saves an awful lot of time.
I am, and will continue to be a fan.

I have to admit it's a much better conversation starter than the flatscreen. LOL

My wife and I moved up here in '03 and I recall we felt very cold. Following on; in the house we designed I included a cast iron wood burning stove which I imported from New Zealand. (A whole other and quite amusing story)
Cutting a long story short; having built the house and installed the fire, it has never been lit.
Either it hasnt been that chilly again, or we just grew accustomed to the cool and bought jumpers instead.

For sure some of the major private hospitals come with a license to print money, and lots of it.

I think it was advertising the Chiang Mai/Bangkok hospital which is now open there.

Have to agree with VF. Definitely Bangkok and make sure they can provide a certificate of authenticity. ie if it's glass you get your money back.

Hi Boomer
I've been down this road before and failed as they are terrified of scrap metal (nails and bullets) playing havoc with their tools.
The is a place in Don Sila East of the City by 25km who did the job for me but I had to promise the replace anything damaged.
If you need more detail PM me your email address.
