Thailand Tightens Grip on Retirement Visas Amid Wealth Shift
I lived in Thailand for 6 years up to COVID and in Cambodia for 3 years since then. There is no comparison between the two for being retiree-friendly. The Thai government wouldn't know if its ass was on fire and goes out of its way to make things difficult. Their policies are as changeable as Donald Trump's. While on the other hand, Cambodia couldn't be any easier - just pay your $300 per year, and no further government interference.

Harris holds 7-point lead over Trump in national survey
i am not American and so won't be voting but on the balance of experience, capabilities, track record, and what's on offer, the margin should be much greater. In any other western democracy it would be Harris 75%, Trump 25%.

Trump Aims to Block China’s Growing Influence on U.S. Farms and Food Supply
I can never understand why countries like the US and Australia get so concerned about China buying rural land. It' s no different from what the British and Americans have done. If there is an international crisis the Chinese can't take it back with them - time to worry about that if and when the time comes.

Confusion Surrounds Thailand's Digital Nomad Visa Amid Embassy Uncertainty
Why is it so difficult to get Thai embassies worldwide to follow to the letter any directives from head office in Bangkok. It is still a problem that each embassy seems to make its own rules and the people need to shop around to get the best deal. Just imagine if the military operated that way with each regiment deciding what orders they would follow or would not. I realize that Thailand is not a democracy but how can a country run efficiently that way?

Hungary Opens Door to Russian Spies, EU's Largest Party Warns

Now that Orban seems to want them back it is time for the Hungarians to get rid of him.

Outstanding questions remain about new visa rules for Thailand
I haven't lived in Thailand for the past four years but I keep a close watch on what's going on, and nothing ever changes. The Thais can democratically vote for who they want to be the government who are then not permitted to take control. The Ministry of Whacky Brainwaves keeps coming up with ideas (such as marihuana legalizing) and then backtracks soon after they come into effect, and whatever the government does is always an ill-conceived dog's breakfast. I am living in Cambodia which is a breath of fresh air after Thailand - here you just pay your annual retirement fee (without any conditions) and renew it in 12 months time, with no need to contact government agencies in the meantime. Maybe the Thais should send a study group over to Phnom Penh.
