  1. I lived in Thailand for 6 years up to COVID and in Cambodia for 3 years since then. There is no comparison between the two for being retiree-friendly. The Thai government wouldn't know if its ass was on fire and goes out of its way to make things difficult. Their policies are as changeable as Donald Trump's. While on the other hand, Cambodia couldn't be any easier - just pay your $300 per year, and no further government interference.
  2. In Australia it's 67. Imagine the difference in relative national productivity
  3. So she will be Trump's answer to Hitler's Josef Goebbles?
  4. Bring on the Referendum. These is no place in the governing of Australia for its citizens to show deference to a foreign head of state. Bring on The Republic of Australia.
  5. If the King contributes it could be done in one year.
  6. i am not American and so won't be voting but on the balance of experience, capabilities, track record, and what's on offer, the margin should be much greater. In any other western democracy it would be Harris 75%, Trump 25%.
  7. I can never understand why countries like the US and Australia get so concerned about China buying rural land. It' s no different from what the British and Americans have done. If there is an international crisis the Chinese can't take it back with them - time to worry about that if and when the time comes.
  8. The wave of Anti Semitism internationally is directly caused by the neo-Nazi Israel government's appalling treatment of the Palestinians over many decades, and by Netanyahu and his thugs in particular .
  9. That's what I call creative thinking. Thailand needs more imaginative people like this.
  10. Why is it so difficult to get Thai embassies worldwide to follow to the letter any directives from head office in Bangkok. It is still a problem that each embassy seems to make its own rules and the people need to shop around to get the best deal. Just imagine if the military operated that way with each regiment deciding what orders they would follow or would not. I realize that Thailand is not a democracy but how can a country run efficiently that way?
  11. What a huge task. There must be millions of prime suspects.
  12. What a weak guy he turned to be. None of the spirit of his father. Looks like just another fascist brown shirt for the American Fuhrer.
  13. In Thailand practically anybody can run for PM unless you are the person that the public voted for in a democratic election.
  14. I know what she believes and about her wide experience and I am not even an American. There is no great mystery. I don't know how Americans can be in the dark. Maybe they should follow the news on anything other than Dr Goebbles Fox News.
  15. Let us hope that they will soon replace the dinasours that are preventing Thailand from joining the 21st Century
  16. All power to them! Let us hope they can succeed in finally democratizing Thailand and changing it from its current Monarchist Fascist dictatorship.
  17. Despite overwhelming support from the Thai people, the Move Forward Party is to be dissolved and the country is to remain a Monarchist Fascist dictatorship rather than a robust modern democracy.
  18. One of Australia's most effective and clear headed Prime Ministers , Paul Keating, gave a thought provoking address to the National Press Club a couple of year ago on Australia's relationship with China which is very different from the popular view. Watch it here > https://www.skynews.com.au/australia-news/politics/in-full-paul-keating-addresses-national-press-club-of-australia/video/3690b46dc983b8774ff223b230c6ab10
  19. The democratically elected government-in-waiting is disbanded for wanting to talk about bringing the country into the 21st Century? Thailand is a monarchist/fascist dictatorship. Will it ever become s democratic state?
  20. The democratically elected government-in-waiting is disbanded for wanting to talk about bringing the country into the 21st Century? Thailand is a monarchist/fascist dictatorship. Will it ever become s democratic state?
  21. I just completed this quiz. My Score 20/100 My Time 126 seconds
  22. I live in Kampot Cambodia, which is a tourist town, and haven't see even one Chinese tourist all year. Why is this so?
  23. Hungary's Quisling, Viktor Orban, should ask his parents what it was like living under Russian sunjugation and why thousands of Hungarians lost their lives and fled the country in a popular uprising against Russia in 1956. Now that Orban seems to want them back it is time for the Hungarians to get rid of him.
  24. I haven't lived in Thailand for the past four years but I keep a close watch on what's going on, and nothing ever changes. The Thais can democratically vote for who they want to be the government who are then not permitted to take control. The Ministry of Whacky Brainwaves keeps coming up with ideas (such as marihuana legalizing) and then backtracks soon after they come into effect, and whatever the government does is always an ill-conceived dog's breakfast. I am living in Cambodia which is a breath of fresh air after Thailand - here you just pay your annual retirement fee (without any conditions) and renew it in 12 months time, with no need to contact government agencies in the meantime. Maybe the Thais should send a study group over to Phnom Penh.
