Apparently Miguels is now under new ownership. Not much has changed, same personnel and same great mexican food. Last night had the Chicken taquitos ( a little over cooked ) and a bean and cheese burrito (wet ). Even though the taquitos were overdone everything was still great.

Let me also amend this to buying property and then building your own house....not in a moo ban somewhere

third. who or what the 'H-ll' are/is the 'bolts'? (i've been away too, too long...)
The "bolts" would be the San Diego Chargers
And I agree............There should definately be a " Superbowl Party " 6AM or 2PM or whenever.......Doesn't make a difference, it's the SUPERBOWL !!

Hey, I wanted to see if anything out there is going on for the Superbowl ? Still got a month to go, but thought I would get a thread started on it. Is anyone planning a party ? Is there a bar to go to that traditionally throws a decent party ? Lets get something going
Which teams do you think will make it?
I'd like to see Indy make it, But I think San Diego and LT are playing too strong and will win it all.
NFC...I think Chicago's Defense will carry them thru.
Next year I will be watching my Raiders in the big game...........LOL NOT !

Hot Legs - Rod Stewart
She shook me all Night - AC/DC
Paranoid - Black Sabbath

OK. I am tired of renting and I am looking to buy now. Question is, which do I get ? What are your opinions ? A 2 million baht condo also buys a nice house and land. I am married to a Thai and have the non-imm O visa and plan to be here for many years to come.
I see the simplicity of a condo, but I am not sure on the quality of houses.
what are the thoughts out there ?
Thanks

I was planning a trip to Kuala Lumpur to get a new visa around the 2nd of January or so. With all the flooding right now, is anyone out there aware of the status of the Thai Embassy ? The reason for going is a non-immigrant O visa because I am newly married here and I heard that KL is a pretty easy place to get that. Should I start looking at Singapore or other alternatives ? any advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Down Under......on Nimmanhaemin. My wife and I ate there about a month ago , I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu and she had the Som Tam Talay.... The chicken was VERY dry and the little lady did not care for the som tam (albeit she is quite the som tam connisuer ) The meal would have been acceptable with the exception of the fact that it took about an hour to get the food. Well everyone has an off night, so we went back to try it again tonight. I had a burger and she had a tom yum dish. I thought the burger was terrible, and her tom yum was ok. Again the main problem was that it took over 1 hour to get my hamburger. That is totally unacceptable. I could have walked to Mikes, ate a burger there and been back home all before my food was even delivered. Down Under is not a place we will go to again.
I never rate the Thai food in farang restaurants - if you want decent Thai food go to a Thai place...
I don't rate it either, only the farang food. The little lady ( Thai ) always gets the Thai food. we usually eat ate 2 different places

I saw them all over at the night bazaar last night ( who knows about quality though )

I know the dangers well of not wearing a helmet..........and most of the times I do wear it as does my wife. My main point on this thread was that it was refreshing to get pulled over by a cop that was a "nice guy" and not sticking it to the farang. I paid a 100 baht fine, which could have been more as neither me or my wife were wearing helmets at the time.
Have fun and be safe

Well, I was on my way to Airport Plaza and got pulled over for no helmet. Normally, I would give a few hundred Baht over and be done with it. This time though, it was one of those " pull over everybody things," with about 15 cops there. I asked if I could just pay him and he said no. I was surprised at what happened next.......He told me that he was giving me a ticket for not having the right paperwork for the motorcycle, I started to protest this and he told me it was a lesser fine than not having a helmet.
Karma at it's best ! lol
Just thought I woud share

I don't know if it is still there but I rented my entire Lanna attire at a photography studio at the night bazarre, inside the main building (believe it was downstairs). Very nice clothes with sash, belt, etc. Had to have some Thai friends help me dress, was a bit complicated getting all the pieces in the right places. Probably other photography studios may have similar selections.
Thanks, I will look into that, love the Avatar BTW ! lol

Hey, going to be thai-ing the knot here next week. I am looking for some input on where you can either rent a bride and groom outfit ( Lanna style or whatever) or purchase something decent at a reasonable price. Thanks in advance for any help.

Well I went today at 10 am, no one else showed so I went 18 by myself.....28 over lol. Weather was great.
Maybe another time

Sorry, not too sure where to post this, but I am looking for some good or bad info on working for Genius Education Center in Chiang Mai..........Any help would be appreciated.

Do we have a time and date yet? Is it October 3 at 10 AM? I'll be there.
I don't have a car or bike so if anybody's heading to Gymkhana from my area (Central Dept. Store, Huay Kaew) let me know if I can meet somewhere in the area for a ride.
I will be traveling via seongtaew from Hillside 3 condo........gotta breakdown and get me a ride ! lol

You can still count me in. I don't care if it's only a twosome....I love to golf...albeit badly ! lol

sawotdi kurp to everyone!
i just recently moved to chiang mai recently, wanted to know one or two little pointers about life here in the fair old city. i hope someone can help.
first of all, can someone tell me about my visa? i have a non immig "b" which is valid until october. where can i go to extend it? someone told me i need to go to burma for a day, but that sounds a bit off. someone else says immigration police will do you, but i just want my visa extended. so, please help!
next, are there any restaurants you can recommend? it feels like i've been eating cow soy and noodles for weeks. i need a change. not too expensive, though. any ideas?
then, i know some hotels have swimming pools and i like to swim. i'd like to know the best pools in the ampur.
finally, how much does public transport cost? it seems everytime i use a bus or took-took or one of those red things with benches, the fare changes each time. say, going from naymiheamen road to thepha gates, i've been charged from 40 to 60 baht. it seems a lot. does anyone know about this?
ok, those are some of my immediate concerns. hope you can help.
bye
For something different to eat theres Mikes Chili Burgers ( not fantastic, but pretty ###### good for Chiang Mai) and for some Mexican food there is Miguels Authentic Mexican....which I do enjoy, unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly where it is because of my lack of time in Chiang Mai. They are both near the Night Market. And it will cost you more than noodles !
Hope you get to enjoy

Chili ? Con Carne Not The Pepper !
in Chiang Mai
Posted
Hey does anyone know where I could buy some good ole' canned Chili con carne ? I know I can buy the ingredients and make my own, but sometimes you just get that craving and want to open up a can. May sound silly to some, but it's one of the foods I miss.
