Same Q for both of you.. did you have to buy separate Covid insurance?

No the 1 policy covered me for everything.

includes 400k inpatient expenses, outpatient 40k and 100k Covid insurance.

Policy is not cheap around 40,000 for my age group. You can get a 50% discount if you agree to 300k baht deductible.

This is what I did as I really just need the wording for the embassy so paid in around 20k but I’d now have to pay 300k deductible with the 50% discount if I did need treatment.

Perfect description - masks are absolute theatre - like it.

Some science indicates a negative effect with mask wearing with all the additional touching of face, then hands touching everything else. Would we be touching our faces so often without a mask there? No.

Never heard of anything so dumb and it simply panders to all those that are terrified of their own shadow - you'd think after nearly 2 years of this insanity, a bit more rational realism would have taken hold.

    Give me strength

This is old information back when the pandemic began. Whilst it was a good idea to clean surfaces back at the time until we had more information. Now we have the data the constant cleaning of surfaces needs to stop thats absolute theatre. Covid is not primarily transmitted through surfaces it is airborne. Continue to use a mask indoors absolutely fine with that but not needed outdoors.

     https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/more/science-and-research/surface-transmission.html

Quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA) studies have been conducted to understand and characterize the relative risk of SARS-CoV-2 fomite transmission and evaluate the need for and effectiveness of prevention measures to reduce risk. Findings of these studies suggest that the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection via the fomite transmission route is low, and generally less than 1 in 10,000, which means that each contact with a contaminated surface has less than a 1 in 10,000 chance of causing an infection.

Surface disinfection once- or twice-per-day had little impact on reducing estimated risks

  3. I think the hospital will be able to contact immigration to get this sorted for you shouldn’t be a problem.

Had suggested self isolating instead of taking a test but just reread your post that you needed the test to take the flight. Would be much better if we could all self isolate instead of hospitalization.

Hope you can get out of there soon good luck.

  4. Hi Sheryl,

Thank you for the information very useful.

The annual check up was carried out inside her workplace. So a hospital outside of Bangkok came into her workplace to do this. I believe the hospital was from samut sakorn. She said because the workplace has a lot of employees that’s why it normally takes 1 month to get the report. Also because samut Sakorn is a long distance away is not easy for her to walk in to get the results.

We will schedule an appointment with Dr. Wichai Prayoonwiwat at Bangkok Christian Hospital.

    Kind Regards

  5. Hi,

My girlfriend had her annual work check up and they noticed that she had anemia. She is not sure what kind of doctor it is but he gave her the name of some medicine to buy at the pharmacy to take to improve the anemia. The name of the medicine he gave her was HaemoVit.

I would like her to see a doctor to be sure she has been given the correct advise with the medication he advised her to buy. All her blood tests in previous years before this were normal.

She won’t be able to bring the report with her to the hospital as she won’t get the report from her work for another month so it was only verbally that the doctor advised her to buy the HaemoVit medicine.

Is there any good doctors for this at either the Bangkok Christian hospital or St Louis hospital for this? Or is somewhere else recommend?

    kind Regards

  6. I have enquired with the hotel located inside the airport how much will it be for the atk test.

Have informed me price is 1000 baht for antigen kit and airport pick up. I don’t really understand the airport pickup charge since the hotel itself is located inside the airport.

The test should be free. Would also encourage more tourists to come if it was free.

  7. Bizzare timing for them to announce this just as some countires are imposing more restrictions due to the Omicron Varient Thailand eases them with scraping the Pcr tests. The Uk has just reintroduced a mandatory PCR test on day 2.

Not that i am complaining as good news for me traveling but we are led to believe in November it was too dangerous to open up without PCR tests then when a new varient comes along suddenly its safe to scrap the pcr tests on the same day the new varient was announced.  Doesn't make much sense.

Would not be surprised if they change it back to pcr tests again in a few days time.

I received my non O visa today from Thai embassy in Australia, mine states,  Surname - First Name - Middle Name.

Thank you that’s reassuring to know.  Just curious the first line of the email where it states

    Dear,

did your last name also appear first here or was it your forename first? As myn is saying Dear, then last name first

I don’t want to take any chances having some kind of problem with the name when I’m checking in for my flight or at immigration.

  9. I got an email through for my visa being approved today from the ministry of foreign affairs however I’m a bit concerned about the data.

It is showing as my last name first followed by my middle name and then my first name as last.

Is this anything to be concerned about on the evisa sticker or is it normal for them to put your last name first?

    Thanks

  10. No only RtPCR is accepted.

Also not worth the risk of you taking your flight tomorrow as if the pcr test shows up inconclusive when they test you in the test and go hotels you will run into problems.

I would reschedule your flight to a later date if possible and wait until you know for sure your rtpcr result will be negative,

Your biggest problem is not an inconclusive result in your home country the problem will come if the Thai hospital get the same result.

I would not even attempt to take the flight given your circumstances.

Can someone who got TR visa let us know for how many nights did you have hotel booking? When I was applying in person at my local consulate I always had booking for just few nights (sometimes just 1 night) and it was approved without issue.

I was reading somewhere that through e-Visa you need to have hotels booked for the most part of your trip (>30 nights) which would be insane. Can someone clarify this?

    Hi Alldar,

I applied for the stv visa and gave them a 1 month booking. They got back to me and said that 1 month paid accommodation booking was insufficient and that i needed paid accomadation for 3 months so i had to change my original booking and book a new room for 3 months.

If its not the stv visa and just the regular visa then i would assume less days is fine.

    Good luck

The 400k/40k insurance is for the STV. The 100k USD insurance used to be for covid for the COE; however, with the new Thailand Pass they changed that requirement to a 50k USD health insurance. Not only covid but health. Thus, your 400k/40 insurance should be fine for the STV, but the 100k USD covid insurance is not good for the Thailand Pass.

That said, the requirements may be different in your country regarding the STV - did they ask for the 50k USD insurance when applying for the STV or for the Thailand Pass?

On the Thai evisa website it asked me to upload the 400/40k ipd opd requirement which I did. It states nothing about 50k health insurance on the thaievisa website.

However the Thai embassy sent me an email last Friday saying this below.

    - Your health insurance, showing your name, duration of cover, and a coverage of $50,000 medical expenses

I have not applied for Thailand pass yet and will not do so until my visa is processed.

    Thanks

Please be aware that they changed the requirement for health insurance from November 1st. Before November 1st, the requirement for a 100k USD insurance was for covid only. They changed that to a 50k USD health insurance. Is your 400k/40k insurance in baht? And is your 100k USD insurance for covid only?  If so, you do not have the required 50k USD health insurance.

Hi Farang51 thanks for the reply. My health insurance policy states the following below.

Health insurance policy which covers treatment and medical expense in relation to COVID -19 with a minimum coverage of 100,000 USD and a minimum In- Patient coverage to 400,000 THB and Out-Patient 40,000 THB for other medical and accident expenses (Subject to the terms and conditions of the policy).

With this policy I believe I have everything I need am I correct in this?

This policy was accepted last April and July for my Stv extensions at Chang Wattana.

Last January when I entered Thailand Axa 100k Covid insurance was accepted by the London embassy they did not require the 400k outpatient and 40k health insurance policy.

This policy was took out last April for my stv extension last April as even tho the London embassy did not require the ipd, opd requirement Chang wattana immigration did require it.

So I therefore took out this expensive health insurance policy on top of the Covid insurance I already had to meet the requirements at Chang wattana.

It would seem crazy to me if this is now not enough?

About 1 hour ago the status of my application changed to pending document check but now it has just changed to request documents.  With no further information on the thaievisa website or in my email what additional document they want.

I already submitted the new document of 3 months paid accommodation to them 4 times as the 1st application i made they said 1 months paid accomadation is insufficient.

They are not replying to my emails.  Is it possible to make a journey to the embassy to speak to them or do you need an appointment?

I’ve received an update last Friday.  They have asked me for 50k usd insurance coverage.

I already submitted. health insurance coverage 2 and a half weeks ago with my application. My insurance covers 100k usd for Covid 19 treatment.  It also covers 400k outpatient treatment and 40k inpatient treatment from a Thai health insurance company. Now they want what I already provided them with in the first place so have just gave them the exact same document I already gave them.

I am very frustrated and they don’t seem to be replying to everybody until Fridays for some reason. I’ve decided to change my flights now from December until January to ensure I know everything will be processed by then.

I would advise everyone applying for a visa right now to apply for the visa between 2-3 months before your flight to ensure it gets processed in time.

I thought this too but you definitely can apply for Thailand pass prior to receiving visa. I put in I plan on staying for 90 days as that’s the original length of STV visa but they don’t ask for the actual visa ????????

Bear9, if you log into Thai evisa website it should state if they’ve received your additional docs. I also emailed them specifically asking if they’d received my additional docs and they did reply eventually. I personally just rode out my first application rather than submit a new one.

    Hi Ryan,

yes I’ve checked on the website and it’s still saying documents requested. I’ve sent the documents to their email a few times but no reply and I have checked my junk mail also.

How soon will you be traveling?

Have you checked your spam folder for a email from them. Some emails for visas and the Thailand Pass get flagged as spam.

    hi thanks ubonjoe

yes have been keeping an eye on my junk folder also nothing there.  Was hoping to fly 1st week in December but will probably delay my trip to January now so I can be sure I have everything I need.

    Yikes, 10 days to complete!

Last year I applied in person and it was granted in person in 4 working days.

I applied this monday and my plane leaves the 9th of december. Hopefully it will be granted in time so I can apply for a ThailandPass.

I posted this on another thread but will put it here also as relevant to you.

Im having the same issue i submitted my application 2 weeks ago for the stv visa.  They got back to me saying application was on hold and to submit another document to them.  I had originally submitted the application with 1 months paid accommodation.  They said one month is not sufficient and needed 2-3 months accommodation.  I submitted the 3 months accommodation but have heard nothing back from them since despite emailing them a few times.

Im just wondering if i decided to submit a new application would i get charged for the first application also?  Or perhaps it might be worth sending them a letter in the post in case they have too many emails to answer?

    Thanks
