You might want to try and contact them about your application or do it again. There was problems with e visa site about the time you did your application and some applications did not get received by them.

    Hi Ubonjoe,

Im having the same issue i submitted my application 2 weeks ago for the stv visa.  They got back to me saying application was on hold and to submit another document to them.  I had originally submitted the application with 1 months paid accommodation.  They said one month is not sufficient and needed 2-3 months accommodation.  I submitted the 3 months accommodation but have heard nothing back from them since despite emailing them a few times.

Im just wondering if i decided to submit a new application would i get charged for the first application also?  Or perhaps it might be worth sending them a letter in the post in case they have too many emails to answer?

    Thanks

As I also mentioned in my post, let the landlord know well in advance that you will return the condo in immaculate condition and that you expect to get your deposit back upon inspection.   You could have also questioned the landlord as to his propensity to return deposits when tenants move out.  Yes...I know that this is backing him/her into a corner, but at least you can let him know in a round about manner that you aren’t someone to be screwed around with.  If you don’t feel comfortable with his/her answer...find a different condo/landlord.

Thanks will let them know i plan to return it in immaculate condition before i move in

If you want your deposit back...don’t mess the place up.

Don’t move into a ****hole and then claim that it was already damaged/dirty when you moved in.  There are enough brand new condos at every price point that this shouldn’t be an issue.

When you give your landlord notice (near the completion of the contact...one month before moving out), let him know that you will leave the place in immaculate condition and that you expect your deposit to be returned upon final inspection and move out.  Expect the standard cleaning fee to be deducted.  I have done this every time and never had a problem.

I have read so many “landlord didn’t return my deposit” threads where subsequently we are informed that the renter had done things like damage the wood floors with a rolling desk chair (get a floor protector) or had even painted the unit black.  Don’t be one of those types.

Of course if someone messes the place up they are responsible and the landlord should keep the deposit and rightly so.  I dont need to listen to advise about messing the condo up as i have no intention of doing so this is not what the topic is about.

The topic is about advise for protecting yourself when you return the condo in immaculate condition and follow all the rules then the landlord still refuses to return the deposit.

  4. Yea thanks good advise although they have asked me for a 2 month deposit.  Something i did think about is the possibility of paying it via a debit/credit card then that way i would be protected by my bank under section 75. But the landlord has asked for bank transfer as payment so im not sure but feel you may be less protected with your bank if the payment is with bank transfer. Is there any protection from the banks when you do a bank transfer?

  5. Hi,

Im currentely in the process of paying the deposit for the condo i will rent soon.

I have heard stories where people have found it difficult to get the deposit back from the landlord after they check out.

So i will take pictures of the condo on day 1 when i am doing the move in process so i have proof of the condition of the condo when i move in.

Is there any more steps which is advisable i could do in order to protect my deposit if there is problems with it an the end of the contract?  I hope it does not come to that and everything works out well but feel it would be best to plan ahead to do everything i can.

    Thanks for advise in advance

  6. Was wondering if anyone else has used Randox for the PCR test?

They offer the Rt-PCR test which is required for the flight however the information about the fit to fly certificate is unclear. This is what they say regarding the fit to fly certificate below. The people i spoke to on the phone were also not sure about this.

How do I receive my results and will I get a fit to fly certificate?

You will receive your results via the email your registered your sample with, as well as a certificate of your results to use whilst travelling.

Results aim to be reported within 12-24 hours of our laboratories receiving the home sample collection test kit.

Your Randox Health COVID-19 RT-PCR test report will contain all necessary information.

I was reading reports that the fit to fly certificate must be in a seperate document it cannot be in the same document as the rt-pcr test.

Has anyone else been tested through Randox and did the fit to fly certificate arrive in a seperate document?

Or will i need to arrange the fit 2 fly certificate with someone else on top of the rt-pcr test from randox?

    1. The chance of you actually testing positive on arrival is lower than you getting into a car accident in bangkok. That is my point.

    2. Asymtomatic: They will ask you if you have symptoms, either say "yes" having purchased the cheap insurance, or be an honest citizen and go with the overensured policy.

So does Pacific cross. And they issue the insurance copy in 3 days

Please explain your logic how its more likely to get into a car accident than to test possible on arrival are you not aware of the daily confirmed covided cases in europe or something? Therefore i could be unlucky and pick it up on the flight or the airport.

Thats wrong there is a very real risk of testing positive when landing in Bangkok or in the hotel with many people having tested positive already when they got to Bangkok.

Who will ask me if i have symtoms? It doesnt matter if i have symtoms or not if the test comes back positive you are immediately hospitalized. You can feel 100% normal but if the test says you are positive you are going to the hospital you have no choice in the matter thats the procedure.

Chances are higher that you get hit by a tuktuk then be delivered to a hospital or even be tested positive.

People are over-insured for no reason.

Sorry but thats just nonsense.  How it is more likely to be hit by a tuk tuk than to test positive for covid im completely baffled by that.

You can test positive with no symtoms on arrival. In Thailand if you test positive on arrival at the airport or at the hotel you are immediately transferred to the hospital you are not allowed to issolate in your asq hotel room.

Many people have tested positive with no symtoms on arrival from the stories ive been reading on the asq fb group and many of their insurance policies did not cover for asymtomatic hospitalization therefore incurring significant expenses out of their own pocket.  Given the incubation period is 14 days whos to say you test negative on arrival but test positive on day 7 in the hotel having possibly picked up the virus in the airport or on the flight.

Therefore it is only common sense to purchase a policy that will cover you for asymptomatic hospitalization

  9. What happens if you have a connecting flight? For example you fly from London on the 21st January at 2pm with a connection in Doha.

You take the pcr test on the 18th January at 2.15pm.  You would be withn the 72 hour time frame for your 1st flight but would be outside the 72 hour time frame for the 2nd connecting flight from Doha.

Would that matter or is it only the 1st flight that counts?

You paid 21k for the covid insurance only?! Mine was a mere 7000. should have gone with tipinsure.

yeah for stv need inpatient / outpatient insurance also (usually runs more expensive than coco-insurance)

Does tipinsure cover for asymptomatic hospitalization?  Axa cover this a lot of the other providers do not.

Is the text on your insurance certificate the same as the one Billpro785 posted in another thread?

    It says:

As far as I can judge, that should live up to both requirements.

Hi this is what it includes below according to my insurance certificate from Axa.

Personal Accident Loss of Life, Dismemberment, Loss of Sight or Total
    Permanent Disability

    1,000,000
2 Medical Expense due to Accident or Sickness 3,500,000
    3 Personal Liability 650,000

*The coverage meets the minimum requirement of 100,000 USD for Certificate of Entry (COE) Application

Axa is telling me i do need this but i also need to purchase health insurance also.

  12. So an update on this this afternoon,

I contacted the thai embassy in London Regarding this and they told me the following after i explained what Axa told me.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

    Thank you for your email.

As long as your insurance policy covers COVID and no less than 100,000 USD medical coverage, it should be acceptable.

    Warmest regards,
    The Visa Team

I replied back to them attaching my insurance policy and they said this to me

    Dear Sir/Madam,

    Thank you for your email.

Please apply using what you have. If we need more information, we will be in touch.

    Warmest regards,
    The Visa Team

I then got back to Axa and explained to Axa that the insurance policy i purchased was ok according to the thai embassy in London

Axa then got back to me and stated this

In London Thai Embassy website also mention for insurance coverage  IPD 400K and OPD 40K require for STV. You may check with them again. Along with this link from the london embassy https://london.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/119247-requirements-for-certificate-of-entry-during-travel-restriction

on the website link it does mention what the insurance company was refering to regarding the stv

    • Copy of health insurance policy which covers medical expenses in Thailand for outpatient not less than 40,000 Baht and for inpatient not less than 400,000 Baht, and COVID-19 related medical expenses no less than 100,000 USD for the whole period of your stay in Thailand --  Please check http://longstay.tgia.org> for more information regarding the insurance requirement.

So i have got Axa telling me i do need to purchase an extra insurance policy, the thai embassy in London telling me i do not but then on the thai embassys London website its telling me i do need to purchase it.

This has only added to my confusion and i have no idea what to make out of it.

  13. The health insurance policy they are telling me I need to buy for the stv costs 37,561baht and I have already paid 21,600 for the travel insurance policy which covers $100,000k minimum in covid 19 insurance.

so with this new health insurance policy they tell me is mandatory for the stv also that would be a total of 59,161 for both policies.

There must be a better way than this?

  14. Hi,

i purchased this insurance policy from axa which covers a minimum of $100,000 covid 19 insurance for a total of 6 months the insurance police was 21,600 baht.

This is the policy i am refering to  https://www.axa.co.th/en/axa-sawasdee-thailand-travel-insurance

I am now being told by axa that this in its own is not enough for the stv and i must also buy health insurance otherwise my stv application will be rejected from my embassy?

Does anyone else know if this is correct that the policy above which i purchased is not enough on its own?  I was shocked to hear this after paying out 21,600 for it.

They tell me i must also purchase this insurance policy below.  Is that correct thanks?

    https://www.axa.co.th/en/axa-Long-Stay-Visa

    Kind Regards

  15. Hi,

When applying for the special tourist visa it says you need to submit proof of payment for your entire stay.

So i have a document confirming the 15 day quarantine paid to my quarantine hotel.

I then have another document for the remainder of my stay through agoda.

I would like to upload both of these bookings where it asks me for Travel booking confirmation.  However it only lets you upload 1 document in this section when applying for the visa.

You need to show accomadation paid for your entire stay so im at a bit of a puzzle of what to do does anyone know how to get around this issue?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I'm in a very similar position to you. Got some questions, if you might be able to answer any of them that would be a real help.

Have/are you expecting to be issued with a 60 day Single Entry Tourist Visa, extendable to 90 days? If so, what has the Thai Embassy asked for to secure that document  - do you need to attend in person for anything or are you able to do it online? Did they say anything about the situation regarding the Special Tourist Visa, which is supposed to be able to give you up to 90 days renewable * 3 (in theory....I am looking for a 6 month stay so would rather go that route but recall the C19 situation in Europe was supposed to have meant it couldn't be applied for here in the UK??).

What travel insurance arrangements are required - is it Thai provided? The reason I ask is that given the UK is now in tier 4 and non-essential travel overseas isn't allowed, I would imagine it would be a perfect opportunity for any insurance claim to be denied by a UK insurer on those grounds. I have an UK annual policy I would typically use and they mentioned to me that it's invalidated if going against official government travel advice.

When are you due to fly?

Cheers and good luck with it!

    Pmd you

Not going ahead with anything for now due to rumour of uk people being banned.

The OP said he was coming on a Tourist visa. Looks to me he want's to come on a holiday. If that's the case he's a tad bu//ered. Things can change but at present those are the UK rules.

The thai embassy in london have confirmed to me that they are accepting tourist visa applications.  I have been trapped away from my thai girlfriend since the begining of the pandemic so im willing to take the chance to go back. Ive been waiting a long time to get back and this seems like an opportunity i should take

What rule are you refering to? If there is a rule regarding non essential travel the police will certainly not be interested in enforcing it they dont have time for that and if i am asked at check in i can give a reasonable reason for travel.

So if the thai embassy grant me the visa and i have all my documents in order i dont see how they can stop me taking the flight.

I certainly dont enjoy all the paperwork, tests, expenses and locked up in quarantine not to mention the risk of failing the pcr test before i board the flight in the uk.

But im willing to go through it all if it means i can get back.  I will also be self quarantining at home for 2 weeks beofre the date of my flight to try and avoid picking up covid beore my pcr test.
