  1. Hi

I want to get a ED visa to study thai from some of the schools who ad here on thaivisa. It seems very logic and fear.

The immigration dont ask anything aboute your money, how to survive during your studytime?I want to learn Thai

anyway so this looking great.Any one have experince of this?

  2. I'm an expat been here 5years. Just sold my business and returning home next month. Fed up with the corruption, bad staff, idiot low class tourists that seem to be coming here more and more. Always being classed as lower than the Thai's. Thailand for the Thai's mentality, standing for the K when I want to watch a film. Living in a third world country who thinks its a first world country.

Yes I am pissed off as you can tell and getting out while I remain sane!!

Can't agree more with you.I am here for 14 years and one should think it had improved over the years.Nothing is more against the truth as that.It get's worse by the day especially the last few years. The crime has risen to unacceptable highs, quality of life has gone way down, xenephobia is clearly visible and the people get more greedy by the day. They realy do one step forwards and then 3 steps back. But,as Gary A wrote,I am sure I can't get used in the western world again.I am looking for years already to leave but there isn't a clear alternative.Cambodia and laos too primitive.Malaysia is better but I prefer not to live between the muslims. If someone knows a country with a similar climate, reasonable quality of life and affordable feel free to inform me.

As for you saying that it is here living in a third world country that thinks it's a first world country I will always remember the words a US navy told me in my early days here.

You can't blame people for being stupid because they didn't have education.People who are stupid but who think they are the smartest are dangerous people.

    Hi

after 7byears I had it but for me is more the visa bullshit.Try Phillipines Im there now, great people, realy frindly not fake smiles and the visas are great 16month with no visa trips thank god.Warm people and great islands

  3. LOL, Wouldn't it be true that half of these posts would not be here if the Government just made it easier for people who simply wanted to live here and spend money a lot easier.

I'm not talking about huge Companies etc but this forum is full of pple who just like it here and would like to live here and spend money here that is new money as far as Thailand is concerned.

Probably a totally off topic post and the roots to most of the other posts. I have no opinions really but it does amuse me as to why they make it so difficult.

It is not difficult and Thailand is very open that is why so many of us are here !

Having said that it is a fact that the Thai immigration and administration in general gives a lot of freedom to the individual officers to implement the rules and their own rules.....

You must smoking something, were did you buy that I need a couple a kilo :o :not difficult???wake up.That we need a website like this(its a great site) to try to find out were to go this week to get treated in correct way and get the visa we should have shows a sicknes in this Racist country.Open? All this timewaisting stupid visa runs.Way are many of the expact leaving? If its so easy?I been to Cambodia 285dollar 1 year visa done,no bullshit visa runs.Philippines, they reacently extand their

rules now its 16month and extra 8 if you fill in some papper,no visa run.go immigration every second month and pay around 3000baht.I have enough.leaving to Philippines again, great nice people,You are welcome there, they do everything they can do help you,not like here,do everything they can to <removed> you over

ups.sorry aboute my wrighting,I hope they not close this website because some one criticise the way they treat us,or careful the police come an take your computers

and inplant some naked pictures and force you to pay fine.(happen to 2of my frineds)

  4. Hi

I reasently askt her on the forum if there is anyway I can stay with out,married,company/workpermit or being 50years

and I was told, have to do the 30x3 and then touristvisa etc but today I went to one of the visa/layweroffice in Pattaya and

they told me to get a Non visa O.Only 2 pictures and my passport and go to,they recommended Lao and get a 1 year Non O.

    Is this realy like that?

  5. There is nothing you can do. Under current visa and extension rules the longest you can stay in Thailand at a time is 90 days, then you have to do a border run or get anew visa from a Thai consulate.

    Maestro

Ok this I understand but this will stop after after a couple of times,at the moment I read 3times in Malaysia and then what?Go were and do what?I thinking

after 3x 30 and 60+30 and then again and again but then it seems to be stop?Or?

  6. Hi

I want have a cleare answer if anyone realy know?I want to stay for ex forever, not married with thai, not retired(45)

dont want any business here.so I will not work and then I dont need a companyI dont want to study.I have incom from Europe.I know that

I can go for 3X30days and then go ex.to Malayisa and get touristvisa 60+30 but it looks that you can do this if your lucky

maximum 3times.I know at the moment Lao can get multientrie but that is just today soon Im sure they change that to

the same as the rest of the consulate. How can I ever relax in this country when the keep having different rules in different

consulat or even different rules in they some office dependig on the a__hole who is behind the counter.Does anyone know what to do?

  7. I saw this one coming a long way off... and it's only a matter of time before all Thai consulates and embassies have similar rules. That's why I'm headed to live in The Philippines at the end of this month: Up to 16 months on a single tourist visa without having to leave the country.

I'll be waiting for the rest of you to show up.

Hi,I see you there, leaving 11feb after 6 years in Thailand I had enough of bullshit from the goverment, totaly brainless,so see you in Philippines(puerto galera, sabang)

  8. There is no 30 day visa on arrival but if you are from a country allowed visa exempt entry that is how it would work. But if you are planning longer you have to figure in six months visa exempt restrictions as you will not have completed that amount of time.

Ok,I mean when I arrive I get 30 touristvisa and then I will do 2more visatripps to Burma and then KL or Siongapor for 60+30.Is this ok?

  9. Hi

Please help, can not find clear answer on the forum.I get 30daysVisa on arrival and then i will go to Burma 2times for 30days each time and then my 90 days are finish.

If I understand correct after this I can go to ex Kuala Lumpor or Singapore and get 60days with a 30day extension in Thailand. Is this the rules then its easy. Please someone explain to me if Iam wrong.

  10. Thailand to limit foreign stake in firms to 50 per cent

BANGKOK: -- Thai government will limit foreign investors to holding no more than 50 per cent of the shares or the voting rights in companies here under legal changes approved Tuesday, Finance Minister Pridiyathorn Devakula said.

"Foreign investors who altogether hold more than a 50 per cent stake in a company must lower their stake within a year," Pridiyathorn Devakula said after a cabinet meeting.

"Foreign investors who hold more than 50 per cent of voting rights must also reduce their voting rights within two years,"he added.

The 50-per cent cap will only apply to companies that deal with areas considered important to national security, or that have an impact on natural resources or Thai culture, he said.

The cabinet approved the changes to the Foreign Business Act "in principle" on Tuesday.

Surayud said the government's top panel of legal advisers would continue to work on the details of the law to ensure precision and transparency.

"The Council of State is authorized to work on the details to make the law precise and transparent, without any need to be resubmitted for cabinet approval again," he told reporters.

"It will take some time for the law to take effect," he added.

The Cabinet approved Tuesday the foreign business law amended by the Commerce Ministry.

The amended act would include the requirement on the voting rights of the board members and increase the penalty for violators.

Netpreeya Chumchaiyo, deputy government spokesman, said after the Cabinet meeting that the Council of State is assigned to review the draft amendments.

Earlier, Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce warned that the amendment might affect their decisions to do business decision.

Commerce Ministry and Finance Ministry are scheduled to make seperate press conference at 3pm.

Earlier Finance Minister Pridiyathorn Devakul vowed to press ahead with legal change that could overhaul the way foreign companies do business here despite warnings of potentially disastrous economic fallout.

Pridiyathorn insisted that foreign companies would not be scared off by the final version of the law, which has not yet been released.

Foreign business community in Thailand has urged the government to postpone the changes for at least six months.

"Why should we withdraw it? They have not yet seen the details. If they had seen the details, I am sure that they would be happy," Pridiyathorn said.

"Why should we postpone it when we have worked on it for three months. This is Thailand," he added.

The minister was speaking after attending the cabinet meeting which will consider the changes.

Pridiyathorn said he had consulted some foreign investors about the changes to the Foreign Business Act and more than half of them had found the new rules acceptable.

"I myself will talk with them. I have held talks with many investors but they have not seen all of the details and the commerce minister cannot disclose the bill before the cabinet gives its approval," he said.

"We have a record of welcoming foreign investment. We are not hostile to them. Foreign investors have made Thailand develop and we are certainly still adhering to this policy," he said.

The revised law is expected to redefine shareholder rights and ownership structures for local subsidiaries of international firms.

Companies have traditionally set up their operations in Thailand so that the local subsidiaries are nominally owned by Thais but controlled by foreigners.

  14. Can anyone personally verify that a non Immigrant O multi entry visa can still be obtained from Thai embassy in Penang and:

    - what documents are required (based on marriage to a thai national)

    - if the 5pm airasia flight allows time enough to collect the passport the day after submitting

    Thanks a bunch.

Iam going to Penang Sunday and this is what I bring, recommended by the company that take me there.

    1.Passport+copy

2.Idcard/passport copy from my wife and signed offcourse

    3,Housepaper from wife.

    4.foto for the visa.

5.marraigecertificate in original and copys and I guess signed by both.

6.copy of rentalcontract where you stay and should be contract minimum 1 year(Realy need??)

7.Copy off your bankbook of every page and the book with you in original(bigger chance to longer visa)??

I think that is all.If I forget anything so please let me know.

  15. With all the chaos re- the new regulations, I am reviewing my non-married status. Currently I am here on a non-B with full legal work permit. I am considering marrying my long term Thai girlfriend. If my current contract ends then it might help secure a long stay.

The question is, wi;; I have to change my non-b change to an "O" status? Is that going to affect the work permit?

    TIA

    Pringle..

PS: My 2 bahts worth on the visa fiasco:

If the Thai authorities are so concerned about "illegal"workers using 30 days visas to work here long time, why don't they just charge 3500B per month for 30 extentions over 90 days - that is the tax and SS any falang will pay on the minimum basic 50,000B monthly wage. This way, the government gets the revenue they think they are loosing out on. If they called it a 30 day SME business visa, I am sure any illegal would jump at the chance as it would grant some legality to being here.

Or is this just to complicated for the Thai authorities?

    Hallo

Iam realy sure that you can not get I workpermit on a marrigevisa but as long as you work you

    keep things the same.

  16. What does this mean for those of us who go to Penang for a triple entry tourist visa twice a year?
The tourist visa is not mentioned in this announcement. Therefore, this announcement means nothing for you.

However, if you are working illegally in Thailand you should nevertheless do whatever is necessary to get legal. The basic policy seems to be the removal of foreigners working illegally in Thailand and if this new rule does not stop them the government may have other ways to do so.

    ---------------

    Maestro

Personally I do not understand the excitement of several members this forum caused by the new tourist visa on arrival regulations.

The typical tourist will come to Thailand most probably twice a year in maximum.

“Tourists” who are seeking other activities than normal tourists normally are looking for, should apply that visa type suiting their activities.

In Europe you have to play by the law, why not here in Thailand?

You are guest of this country - behave accordingly and you will have no problems at all.

By the way, the “new“ rules are just a consequent follow up of the spirit of old rules and visa regulation. Unfortunately the applicants over stretched old conditions too much.

    Bush

I agree of some things you say,but I tell you my story.Iam married with thai, dont have money to get marriagevisa(400.000)at the moment.I get income from familycompany in Europe so i have good salery so i dont need to work but Iam only44 years old so no retairement. We also having a

baby soon so what I <removed> should I do??

  17. Do some know aboute this because I dont understand.I done 30days visarun for some time(4-5times)Next time I go to Penang I will get a dubbelentry tursitvisa(that means 6month)but if iam

correct after my 60days+30days from immigration and then I go to Ranong and should get 60+30agin but will that work with the new rules.Do they look back befor and not let me back in

or is it from 1oktober and after that you can go 3times for 30days visa??
