  1. He seems to forget he is not a general anymore. Let someone else runs the country if he can't handle a little pressure from the press.

Its unfortunate that you can't comprehend there is privilege that comes with the position of being a leader of a country.

    That is one of respect.

Do you think the US President would even allow a reporter like this in? No, part of being granted a Press Pass is to be respectful.

The PM raised his voice. That is how you remind a subordinate that they are stepping out of line.

Obviously you have always been an underling to not grasp even that simple truth.

Although I agree that there should be a level of respect I also think everyone should remember that the PM has a boss, the general public. He basically is a servant of the people, he is assigned to run the country on behalf of the people and as such he needs to be fully accountable for everything that happens.

You are being satirical here aren't you???

  2. the one MP per province has one huge and fatal flaw, it is unequal representation.

A fatal flaw or design intent? I guess that depends if you are on the side that can't seem to win an election or not.

Bangkok has a population something like 30 times the size of Ranong but i get the impression that the plan would be to totally emasculate any parliament anyway. The idea of replacing the senate with experts sounds like the same old 'good people' line that keeps being tripped out.

Also, how can the PM be an elected or unelected MP if his plan is for all MPs to be elected?

  3. Some ideas perhaps:

Intravenous Xanax for the duration of their visit, you not them.

Feign kidnap and escape to Pattaya until a ransom was paid.

Mention that the ghost of the previous and recently deceased owner is known to inhabit the home.

Cut the plug off the TV set.

    Play Pink Floyd continuously.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

I would avoid using the ghost story - they will end up bringing a witchdoctor with them and invite more people round for a multiday party to exorcise it.

The tv plug cutting suggestion will be got round by just shoving the bare cables into a wall socket and possibly short the whole house/tv/passing small child.

  4. Good. Let this old, washed-up has-been stay in oblivion and obscurity. Old hat. Yesterday's news.

Fair enough if that's your view. But the significance of the story is rather different. In other words why should ordinary Thais be so fond of the former democratically elected PM and why would they want her to be guest of honour at this important festival?

And equally to the point why should those who grabbed power be so terrified and threatened by her presence at an entirely non political occasion?

    There's a wind blowing.

Who says everyone wants her there.. and I agree with the army keep her out of the lime light she will soon be forgotten. You are right a wind is blowing.. and its blowing to PTP to oblivion and all the previously oppressed by the red terrorist breath this new fresh air.

No longer risking bullets at your house if you say something bad about the government.

I thought saying bad things about the government was illegal now?

Yes it is. But the difference is you don't get shot or your house burned down now. Have you been out of the country for the last year?

Sorry to hear about your misfortune and hope you are fully recovered now and had decent home insurance. I haven't been out of the country for some time but did just manage to survive.

  5. What i don't understand: If Thailand wants more Tourists, why then they do everything to scare off the Tourists?

Tourists seem to be taken for granted a lot of the time - almost a 'build it and they will come' mentality. The constant, sometimes ridiculous, pronouncements and figures from TAT don't exactly help.

  7. Kudos to her for learning Thai, an example to all the long term ex-pats who still can't bother to learn the local language.

c'mon son that was pretty basic thai alt=laugh.png>

Sure..., wonder how many TV members can speak Thai at her level. She was fluent in less than 2 years. Prior gig was the Philippines and (I believe) Equador before that. She speaks 5 languages fluently and has been a good public servant. Stop the hating of one you know little if anything about.
I've never heard her speak, but I doubt she would be fluent in less than 2 years.

In anycase, there's 60 million Thais that are fluent in Thai. But that doesn't make them qualified to be an ambassador. There's more to it than just appearing in local media, saying nice things and smiling

Rather than comment on something you admit you know nothing about why don't you just watch the video in the OP ?

  8. Myanmar Officials have today ( 07/10 ) stated that they are happy with the way the investigation has been conducted towards their citizens.

There is no surprise to anybody with this statement, however, I suspect the UK Authorities will need more convincing that the case has been conducted with professionalism and clarity.

    link please?

Apparently there is a press conference by the police this afternoon which will also have UK ambassador present - should be interesting given he tweeted last night that he has not commented on the case so far and denied complementing the RTP on the investigation as reported a few days ago.

  9. Most petrol stations have an air pipe.

Most roads have hundreds of petrol stations

Give the lad 20 baht tell him the pressures.

    Everyone is happy.

If you don't know this you've lived a very sheltered life

I think you would struggle to find 'hundreds' of petrol stations on SSCC.

It was a couple of tweets - one a translation followed by a screengrab of the original tweet from Spring News in Thai. Both tweets appear to have been deleted now???
