For the last time. A SINGLE species appears to be far more common in Pattaya than any others. I therefore considered that somebody would know definitively what species it is. That person is obviously not you. Stop trolling.

No Special Measures for Chinese Visitors

I provided a number of links which provide evidence that the Chinese vaccines are effective against serious illness. You have posted none. -

Thai tourism workers urged to have Covid vaccine booster
ozimoron replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News Headlines
Anyone not wanting to get really sick from a new variant or even a reinfection. Vaccines have proven to be better for long term protection than covid infection itself. source links previously posted in other threads. -
That's a strong attraction of Pattaya. One can choose one's own preferred lifestyle and cross the rubicon and return at will for a break.

I've already said, several times, I can't get close enough to take a decent photo or recognise it from a website. The websites I have seen indicate that it is difficult to identify between species and sub species. I have also said that they are so common in Pattaya that it';s reasonable to assume somebody has already positively identified them and could do so here. I was able to identify the actual species myself at the time I posted the photo so your comment was no help at all. Unless you absolutely know what species these animals re very likely to be then I suggest you stop speculating.

Is it time for you to face reality and LEAVE ?

I don't think being on a long term holiday (retirement?) and knowing the real Thailand are necessarily mutually exclusive. -
Aww shucks. I prefer to think of it as the only one not gratuitously bashing Thais for decisions they (the posters) don't understand and don't want to understand. The Thais aren't stupid, contrary to what seems to be popular opinion around here and they must have sound reasons for wanting this aircraft. That little factoid seems lost on the detractors.

If the US enters any war with any country these things will be provided to allies. The US doesn't currently see a need to even provide F16's to Ukraine. Partly because they would be vulnerable to Russia's air defence system. Training on F35's would be lengthy and complex which, imo, actually bolsters the case for selling two of them.

Gold Coast Helicopter Crash !

I wonder why it wasn't diverted to Angeles City or refueled in Cairns? The QF19 flight was travelling from Sydney to Manila on Sunday afternoon when Philippine authorities closed the airspace due to a power outage, forcing the plane to return to the NSW capital. The Airbus A330 was flying over Queensland's north coast, just below Papua New Guinea when it made the U-turn. The plane was refuelled at Sydney before re-departing for Manila, arriving in the early hours of Monday local time. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-01-02/manila-bound-qantas-flight-qf19-forced-to-turn-around/101822106

That's at least 4 chopper crashes in Australia in recent months. -
Yet another possibility which fits with there being only 2 aircraft proposed is aerial protection. When Zelensky flew to the US his aircraft was escorted by a single F35 together with a spy plane. They may well have a similar scenario is mind. Thailand has an unstable government on at least two of its borders. A single one of these aircraft can provide a very formidable defence against any attack.

Extra cops were sent to protect generals' homes on Jan. 6 instead of the Capitol — even though they weren't needed “It’s a response I will never forget for the rest of my life,” Sund writes in the book. He recalled hearing the frantic voices of officers being sent to the command center while he was on the phone: “Shots fired in the Capitol, shots fired in the Capitol.” “Is that urgent enough for you now?” Sund barked at the military leader. https://www.rawstory.com/january-6-sund-book-revelations/

Another possible factor in this purchase decision seems to have escaped many people's short attention. If the Thais have trained pilots on the latest aircraft and the stuffing hits the fan as it looks like it very well might then the US could easily provide more aircraft under a Lend Lease type program.

I can relate. There's a fake dog on Walking Street and every time I pass it I think it's real. My brain is getting feeble. Yesterday was Sunday but I thought it was Monday and applied for a day vacation leave. Today I thought it was Tuesday and rocked up to the gym only to find that it was closed. Sheesh.

I'll tell him but I don't think he'll be very interested. He's already got an education you see.

So, lotsa peeps recommending against Pattaya. The condo I rent has double glazing and in a quiet soi. Some of the nightmares I see above reduce my yearning for the sunny uplands.
