  1. Yes, it will. The bill will help up to 40 million people. Not really a republican thing to do it seems.
  2. God forbid that the poor and middle class should get a tax cut. Republicans are crickets when it comes to tax cuts for the rich. That's for a working couple, a single person is half that. It's not particularly over the top. Any half decent lawyer, engineer, scientists, whatever could easily clear that. The bill is designed to exclude rich people, not everyone in the middle class. It also helps people who did low value degrees like social work and arts and aren't likely to make a motza from their education.
  3. So the only kids who should go to college are the ones whose parents can afford to save and sacrifice for their kids' education? The really poor kids can take a hike?
  4. Feds want 17 years for J6 ‘eye gouger’ who bludgeoned cop with flagpole The United States Department of Justice is asking for a 17.5-year prison sentence for former New York Police Department Officer Thomas Webster, who was convicted in May of assaulting a police officer during the attack. https://www.rawstory.com/thomas-webster-j6-nypd-prison/
  5. As Biden finished his remarks about reforming higher education, Doocy shouted a question about the FBI search of former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. "How much advance notice did you have of the FBI's plan to search Mar-a-Lago?" Doocy asked. "I didn't have any advance notice," Biden replied. "None. Zero. Not one single bit." https://www.rawstory.com/joe-biden-peter-doocy-fbi/
  6. Rubbish. The judge has establish probable cause. While, strictly speaking it is an opinion it is substantiated. Exactly the same standard as we are required to meet here. I dismiss nothing based on who said it unless it contains no evidence or can't be further supported. This falls into that category. This is the single link I could find, an unsubstantiated opinion from a Murdoch source.
  7. I don't have to disprove your claim, the onus is on you to prove it. Refusal to do so is breaking forum rules. Try to keep up, please.
  8. Somewhere between the armageddon and the apocalypse, or maybe the second coming of christ. Or maybe something as mundane as Trump's revenge.
  9. Nine Republican leaders from across Pennsylvania on Wednesday endorsed Democrat Josh Shapiro for governor over their own party’s nominee, state Sen. Doug Mastriano, saying he is an extreme candidate who would undermine democracy. “Mastriano continues to fan the flames of division, doubling down on his threats to undermine our democracy and attacking anyone who dares to criticize him.” https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2022/07/06/mastriano-shapiro-gop-leaders-pa-governors-race/7820029001/
  10. The way I see it, this level of FBI concern over the documents has to be related to one or more of three issues. Russia Russia Russia. Corrupt Dealings with the Federalist Society. Obstruction of justice in relation to the FBI's efforts to get them back.
  11. There's no shortage of people of all political persuasions who consider that to be extremist. A sizeable majority.
  12. One man's outsized role in shaping the Supreme Court and overturning Roe Most Americans support abortion rights, but a dedicated minority of conservative activists has been working for decades to dismantle Roe v. Wade, and one man in particular has played an outsized role in that effort: Leonard Leo. Leo leads the conservative legal organization the Federalist Society, through which he has spent the majority of his adult life getting conservatives appointed to the most powerful courts in this country, including the Supreme Court. https://www.npr.org/2022/06/30/1108351562/roe-abortion-supreme-court-scotus-law
  13. And this "traditional" conservative movement just achieved their long term goal of reversing Roe v Wade?
  14. Do you know what a Venn diagram is? Do you think an informal name like the Tea Party doesn't include MAGA afficionados.
  15. University of Denver political science professor Joshua Wilson and POLITICO’s Scott Bland dig into the conservative Catholic legal movement and one group at the center of it all: the Federalist Society. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/10/02/6-catholics-1-court-scotus-and-the-rise-of-the-federalist-society-424778
  16. I disagree. MAGA was an aspiration that has existed in the US since the end of the civil war and Trump just gave voice to it. It's not about him. In fact the term MAGA wasn't coined by Trump.
  17. The Federalist Society is a militant arm of the Catholic Church and dark money seeking to impose an authoritarian Catholic led theocracy on the US through control of the Supreme Court, a goal they have largely achieved.
  18. Traditional, huh? “Massive corporations are pursuing a common and mutually agreed upon agenda to destroy American freedom,” attorney Ashley Keller told a gathering of the most powerful legal organization in America last Saturday. This conspiracy, Keller claimed, includes companies as varied as Facebook, Google, Amazon, Coca-Cola, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Twitter, and Walmart, all of which have joined forces with “the swelling ranks of so-called ‘woke’ people, who are completely and unabashedly opposed to individual rights.” https://www.vox.com/2021/11/18/22783108/federalist-society-capitalism-woke-corporations-milton-friedman-supreme-court-judiciary-judges The dark money group at the center of the conservative movement’s effort to remake the judiciary and overturn Roe is the Federalist Society, led by Leonard Leo. Its two biggest funders – that we know – are the Donors Trust and Donors Capital Fund, which have chipped in more than $35 million over the past few years to the Federalist Society. These two entities keep their donors secret, so ultimately we have no way of knowing who gave tens of millions of dollars to the Federalist Society to influence our courts. Connected to the Federalist Society is another dark money group, the Judicial Crisis Network, which spent $22 million to boost the nominations of Justice Neil Gorsuch and Justice Brett Kavanaugh. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/opinion/2021/10/22/opinion-flood-dark-money-remake-judiciary-attacks-womens-basic-freedom/8449401002/
  19. Who said anything about traditional conservatives? MAGA are not they and nor is the Federalist Society. They are all extremists.
  20. The conservative ideology that is MAGA has existed for decades. It was called the Tea Party at one time. Same characters and plot, different name.
  21. The Federalist Society is MAGA, not a separate entity. MAGA is not an organization but rather an ideology that wants to take up back to some indeterminate time in history when things were much better, presumably about 1963.
  22. It was US board members I was referring to. I think we are entitled to assume that. I didn't say the court would agree. There's enough evidence out there to remove all reasonable doubt unless both sides are lying.
  23. I think it's fairly safe now to assume that Trump had unauthorized possession of classified documents.
