Many of these villages have open garbage dumps. Batteries, dead animals, old pesticide containers are littered everywhere. The majority of villigers won't pay a small fee (100 baht a year in our village) to have pickup service. The Majorproblem is lack of education of proper waste disposal. You can see that everyday with the burning of trash instead of garbage can pickup. A lot of the problems are traced back to the residents themselves.
