  1. Nice pay. I bet she's happy to help at that rate. Plus you sound pretty laid back. I pay some tile workers and cement guys that as good workers are hard to find. When ever I need them there usually available fortunately.
  2. Stuck in the dinasour ages. Get with it and issue easy online Visas. Other Asian countries have been doing it for years.
  3. Whoops! Fixed that.
  4. Totaly. Took ages to get my wife's mother to stop leaving bits food and dirty dishes around the house and outside. It was like living with a caveman (cavewoman). No idea about hygenic conditions!
  5. I couldn't imagine any landlord shouldering a 12,000- 15,000 baht a year vermin problem. Perhaps go half. Every time we have a rat problem I put out poison pellets mixed with fragrant rice. I also put out some sticky traps along the walls. It always does the job until the next invasion. Good luck!
  6. TAT needs to be replaced. I believe that they've got about 14,000 employees pushing the same old garbage every year. Temples, culture, and food. I definitely didn't come for the first two.
  7. Some good tips. I'll be using glass next time I replace the sand.
  8. Can explain "The Gutter". The overflow area?
  9. Expensive option to ditch a 50,000 chlorinator to very exensive UV system. Salt chlorinators are great and used by most resorts in Thailand. However, when you've got a problem with the Salt Chlorinator it can be expensive. UV system sounds interesting though.
  10. Hopefully. So many snakes trying to derail real progress.

    Clinic prices Isaan

Good. Hope you're still free of skin cancer!
  12. ... with that kind of money he could picked a descent hotel. The interior looks like a 450 baht "Love Hotel" from the 90's.
  13. Gotta have mushrooms on your pizza!

And after the referral that will be free as well. Aircon VIP rooms with meals,TV, private bathroom was 700 baht a day. (Sakon Nakhon).
  15. Thais on holiday usually gravitate to the cheapest places to eat and be entertained. Perhaps the excitement and talk about Tree Town has died down. I was there in April and it wasn't exactly crowded. Personally I'd prefer somewhere air-conditioned.
  16. The government subsidy has ended. A lot of Thais enjoy/enjoyed Tree Town for cheap eats and lively atmosphere. The timeline for the fifth phase of the government’s domestic-tourism promotion campaign – which provides subsidies to hoteliers and tourists to encourage travel – will run from early March till the end of April, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced on Friday. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/tourism/40024608 Russians hopefully are running out of Visa options and money. Good riddance!
  17. I agree. Even if Chiang Mai and the surrounding principalities stopped all burning (never happen) it's the majority of surrounding countries like Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, etc that contribute to the terrible smog. In my opinion it's only going to get worse. If you're going ne to go, visit in the rainy season. It's still beautiful and it's healthier.
  18. Milk is expensive in Thailand despite being the largest producer in Southeast Asia. Lower the price and people will buy it.
  19. I've been to plenty and never been fleeced. These places wouldn't survive with the competition if they fleeced everyone. The clubs make enough by charginging higher prices. The GoGo bars that do fleece are owned by Russians. They are fairly well known and avoided.
  20. Same here but we had to install a few poles for electric. It was around 17,000 baht and booked 2 weeks ahead. Water was cheap, it was just a PVC Pipe, had to pay for the 600 baht water meter.
  21. The government has asked farmers to grow only one rice crop this year because of El Nino. Less rice means higher prices and Thai rice is already being undersold by Vietnam, India, and Cambodia.
  22. Hopefully this comes to fruition. "Fawlty Towers’: Production, Release Window, Plot, and Everything We Know So Far About the Series Revival" https://collider.com/fawlty-towers-revival-release-cast-plot/
  23. Great advice. Do it preferably after you receive the meal.
