  1. Never. I think if you look scruffy and have that "backpackers" aura it's more of a possibility.
  2. The problem is getting on your hands then touching your face. Your right it's spread mainly by areosals Washing hands isn't really a priority unfortunately in Issan. "People may also become infected when touching their eyes, nose or mouth after touching surfaces or objects that have been contaminated by the virus." "The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. Another person can then contract the virus when infectious particles that pass through the air are inhaled at short range (this is often called short-range aerosol or short-range airborne transmission)" https://www.who.int/news-room/questions-and-answers/item/coronavirus-disease-covid-19-how-is-it-transmitted
  3. We put garbage in garbage bag then into a bin. Bottles, aluminum, and glass go into another bin. Once a week a guy comes and separates it and gives a little money, 30-50 baht. He takes it and gets a little bit of cash. I'm glad someone just takes it away. Years ago everyone just dumped everything in an open field. Horrible.
  4. 2 Pfeizer 1 Moderna booster COVID positive Mild symptoms with headache. Rescent Pfeizer booster. Entire family of 5 caught COVID while on Holiday in Hua Hin. Everyone family was vaccinated either by Moderna or Pfeizer. 3 year old no vaccines. Very high fever for 3 days. Recently lots of outbreaks in our village. Most people are vaccinated.
  5. Lower the food bills.
  6. Luckily Sweden's back on track with 74% vaccination rate. Demographics helps also. Unfortunately the virus is always mutating and comes in waves.
  7. "Face masks were not recommended for the general public during the first wave, and only in certain situations later in the pandemic. During spring 2020, the reported Covid death rate in Sweden was among the highest in the world. Neighbouring countries that implemented rapid lockdown measures, such as Norway and Denmark, were faring much better, and Sweden received harsh criticism for its lax approach." https://www.thestatesman.com/opinion/swedens-open-covid-policy-work-1503100484.html
  8. You can get the virus (or other bacteria) from others surfaces that have contaminated with it from someone sneezing or coughing. You can get infected by then touching you nose, face or eyes. Washing your hands or using sanitizer will hopefully kill the pathogens. "CDC recommends washing hands with soap and water whenever possible because handwashing reduces the amounts of all types of germs and chemicals on hands. But if soap and water are not available, using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol can help you avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. The guidance for effective handwashing and use of hand sanitizer in community settings was developed based on data from a number of studies." https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/show-me-the-science-hand-sanitizer.html hopefully you wash your hands occasionally in any case.
  9. "You may recall that early on in the pandemic, Sweden decided to take the “natural immunity” approach and ditch the lockdown strategy, despite warnings from the WHO." “They had some of the highest death rates in Europe,” https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2022/02/the-reason-sweden-isnt-vaccinating-kids-5-11-against-covid-explained/
  10. "Vaccination Helps Prevent Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) Associated with COVID-19" "COVID-19 can make children and teens of any age very sick and can sometimes require treatment in a hospital. Some children and teens have even died from COVID-19." https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/why-vaccinate-children-teens.html Especially important as young people usually live with there grandparents and other elderly family members. Getting vaccinated can prevent the spread to everyone else.
  11. The country where it's "fruitless waist of time protesting against a foreign government." And dangerous.
  12. U.S. I wouldn't risk getting deported from Thailand protesting against the government. I don't really care. It's up to the Thais to seal thier fate. There's been warnings ⚠️ against that in the past. "Foreigners again warned against participating in rallies". https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/30226328

    Masks in banks?

Fun day. Go around the province and see how many people you can irritate by not wearing a mask.
  14. We're still in a pandemic. Luckily you don't have any loved ones or people that depend on you. So your demise only effects you.
  15. Recently used to death by right wing conspiracy theorists who play down the pandemic. Mostly antivaxx groups.
  16. It's named that precisely because it's Bivalent. The "Big Pharma" name used by antivaxx people is about as original as calling Bangkok "the Big Mango". Here's the definition so that you'll better understand about second generation vaccines. "stimulating an immune response against two different antigens" https://www.cancer.gov/publications/dictionaries/cancer-terms/def/bivalent-vaccine
  17. Much higher than people who have been vaccinated. "People who don’t get vaccinated against COVID-19 are putting themselves in danger and also are creating a “disproportionate” threat to the health of vaccinated people, even in places with high vaccination rates, says a study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal." https://www.webmd.com/vaccines/covid-19-vaccine/news/20220427/unvaccinated-people-create-higher-risk-for-vaccinated-study-says
  18. That's not including the Republican right wing nutcases on the Supreme Court.
  19. Hopefully Thailand isn't dragging it's feet on getting the new vaccines. More importantly keep the GPO from forbidding private hospitals and clinics from purchasing there own vaccines to sell. Udon Thani Hospital has already taken deposits for the second generation Moderna vaccines. Last time the "Thai Red Cross" ended up taking 30% of the privately purchased vaccines for there own dispersal. Hopefully they've learned. Another variant that is worse than Omicron could pose another problem to the already anemic economy.
  20. It's been reported that it's very difficult to get antiviral medication, The government as usual is gumming things up most likely to make some side money. "COVID patients caught in crossfire of battle over drug monopoly" https://www.thaipbsworld.com/covid-patients-caught-in-crossfire-of-battle-over-drug-monopoly/
  21. No. But they'll hopefully keep you off a ventilator and multi million dollar hospital bill.
  22. Hopefully they'll have the newer vaccines available. If not maybe the 5th. You make it sound like you're being inconvenienced. Be thankful that they even have vaccines for the pandemic. If you're to bothered to take the few minutes for a vaccine that may save your life then stay home.
  23. And a good book. It usually takes a while.

    Masks in banks?

    Sound good.
  25. 5,000 for one of ours. Last week he tried to eat a poisonous toad. He's finally recovering. Enjoy your weekend.
