  1. First, the reason I'm here in Bangkok is that I have Yellow Fever. I didn't know that there was a shot for that. Maybe I would have never left my home country,

There is going to have to be a digital network to track and trace vaccinated people worldwide. This ex construction workers attempt to placate Thais with the yellow prop is just today's example of a long list of his faux pas.  He dresses like a medical person but is he really qualified to deal with a worldwide pandemic?

I'm a bit suspicious of anything free in Thailand. Personally I will buy mine at a hospital facility. What steps is this government and our Health Minister taking to protect the public for counterfeit or diluted vaccine? How many factories are now making vaccine right now and where are press photos of the processes? Are they really going to export vaccine before every Thai is vaccinated?

  2. Is it so hard to understand that I would like to be vaccinated at a private hospital at my own expense and have an array of vaccines to choose from?  I do not trust the Chinese or Thai produced Chinese product and that is my personal choice.  Who would wait until next year to get a Thai developed vaccine?  Hospitals have their own channels to acquire medication.

No real rush.  I would just like to get the process started.  The ex construction worker in charge of the Ministry of Health stopped and then forbade private hospitals from doing their own thing.  He is not a doctor or even a construction worker anymore but he dresses like a doctor for some reason.

Am I the only one that thinks this whole process stinks and is knee deep in corruption and/or incompetence?  I think not.

I think the private importation of vaccines - assuming they are approved by the Thai authorities - is currently "off the table". Most expect it will  be back on the table soon.

The general concensus is that by September you should be able to start getting a vaccination at a private hospital here.

I'm not certain how many places there are that you could fly to and get a vaccination? Maybe your home country? If you're over 75 or an essential worker.

Pretty much joking about flying to an airport tarmac to receive a vaccination. I only want to be vaccinated so I can travel without quarantine when we are presented to the new normal. It may never happen but I like to have options.

It is mid February and no one really has a handle on "The Plan".  Numbers don't  ever add up and delivery schedules change daily.  The whole local factory production schedule and now the locally sourced vaccine supposedly moving to human trials is suspicious to me.  It may be best but I  suspect other motives in play.  I do want to buy the vaccine of my choice down the road but hundreds of millions of people have had at least one jab worldwide but Thailand's number remains at zero.

  4. So some ministers and mayors were at a soapy massage place a few nights ago.  A wager was made. Who could say the most outrageous press release and get it into print first. We have a winner. That billionaire former construction worker who dress like a doctor and runs the health ministry was a very close second with his latest fast track COVID vaccination plan. Well played.

  5. Almost all countries are vaccinating now except Thailand. This leads to so much speculation about systemic graft and corruption.   The daily plan and then change of plans does nothing to make any of the 68 million plus Thais and expats any more confident In the current failures of this government.

That said, let private hospitals acquire internationally approved vaccine (except Chinese). I'm willing to pay an exorbitant amount for me and my family that can trickle down to the ministers to benefit the general public.

Well, how about starting vaccinations sooner? Even Mexico, Costa Rico and Chile started to vaccinate their people with the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine already. But in Thailand, there seems to be no pressure at all and no priority to do that. Very strange.

Could there be any better proof that an end of the crisis is not at all a top priority of the Thai government, for whatever reason? Were they told by China to wait for a Chinese vaccine maybe? Or to ruin the economy even more, to make it cheaper for Chinese investors? I mean, if even Mexico is able to get and distribute the vaccine in order to protect its people, why is Thailand not?

Agreed!  The are now or will very soon be manufacturing the vaccine in Thailand. Where is the vaccine going and why? Should vaccines manufactured in Thailand be sold locally first. Asking for a friend.

  7. This super idea targets two groups of well heeled travelers. First, Mega Lottery winners with no idea how to manage the wealth that has been foisted on them. The second, criminals and corrupt people that need to launder money they acquired illegally.
Seriously. These ministers and officials must be required to have staff meetings and come up with schemes than can never see the light of day.
