I'm in the midst of ASQ in BKK after having returned from Europe last week. I have a booking for a flight to my final destination which is CNX, but I did read some rumours that upon arrival at CNX, they will force me into another quarantine or at least 14 days house arrest. All this after I will check out from here next week, holding a confirmation that I have completed 14 days ASQ and been tested negative for Covid-19. Although it's a 9 hours drive down and up again, I have asked my Thai wife to arrange a commuter to pick me up here in BKK, and she will come along. I hate no-shows for booked flights, but I will advise Thai Smile after departure by bus that I will not fly. I have not found any competent source to reliably advise me what the present rules for domestic travelling are after completion of ASQ and 3 negative tests. Looking forward to be home again next week, and will most likely not travel ever again as long this pandemic is dominating, and the government has zero ideas how to manage the crisis, or communicate in a proper way. Main thing for them is that their Sandbox party in Phuket was nice.

You're not checking-in luggage so no-show is no-problem, it won't delay the flight or check-in close in anyway. Don't waste your breath calling - no show no luggage is a normal thing everyday - it wont affect anything in future either.

  2. Never cripple a new PC with HDD, waste of everything else you're buying. If you need somewhere to store your vast collection of HD torrents or family movies then you add an additional HDD as a second drive or partition however your want. your OS, applications, doucments, swap, and working data should be on SSD. Yeah as JaiMaai says minimum 16gb nowadays, its what an extra 1500baht?

I'm so afraid.  Shut everything down until we have zero covid.  It's the only way to save the planet.

Tuu, I thought we discussed you'd keep off thaivisa whilst running government? Did the site name change confuse you?

Ha, don't believe it...what makes this guy think they'll just hand him an ticket home? Jail time then 'go fund me' eh?

Not sure you take what anyone says immediately or hours after being arrested in this state as true intent - guy clearly drunk prior and will remain in an agitated state for several more hours yet - I doubt he really expects a plane ticket and a lift to swampy.

He might live to regret it if he ends up in a COVID infested jail.

I think jail would be enough to regret it, although i'd hope he receives same wai+5000baht treatment afforded to locals when they do drunk acts often much much more severe. Young, non-fat and probably a working immune system - i doubt COVID is a worry.

did he sob and ask for his MA MA. i want my mama

Maybe his mama will turn up to the police station with him for the wai'ing ceremony as is tradition in the land of no responsibility.. This is only news because he's foreign, this type of nonsense happens in thousands of local villages across the country every night - for house thrashing, to gambling gone wrong, to the crazy drunk

  7. If it's that delicate they should probably outsource it to an international consultancy, I'd never thought I'd say this but heck even Accenture or G4S could do a better job than the Thai government. Meanwhile many European countries - granted not all -  move ahead with reviving their tourism industry - e.g. Spain - I think we can drop even the vaccination now for UK and US travellers (and other countries in 4 weeks) - Thailand - I think we should probably make the requirements 4 pages so we duplex print and not have any whitespace.

yeah, i'm thinking some minimum income requirements or a confirmed job at a billion dollar corporation could still be tacked on to filter out the riff raff.. ????

Company must be registered on recognized stock exchange, and each applicant must have at least 3 certifications and a PhD in a recognized science, PhD waived for under 12s that submit a worn testimonial at local embassy from that they plan to achieve certification with 6 years, and witnessed by a licensed buddha monk within 72hrs of departure...

Sadly I feel like this needs to said - Please if someone from TAT etc is reading this isn't a serious suggestion

They get their positions because their Grandmothers Brother or their Mothers half Sister was someone 'important'; it's got nothing to do with what they know !

Sometimes, they can also purchase positions too - doctors, police, pilots, ministry jobs, aircraft maintenance etc.. - nothing too important - usually there is a fixed price based on seniority of the position and what level of previous related experience applicant has from none to not enough..

My wife flew into Buriram about 6 weeks ago as she had come from Bkk she has a choice covid test or 14 days at home took the covid test at 600 baht are they getting rorted in Phuket at 4,000 baht a test,,,

PCR tests are much more expensive than the lateral flow tests - I would guess that was the 600baht one, still 4000baht is a rip off, reasonable price nowadays would be closer to 1800baht, but it's a NACC sanctioned funnel from private hospitals to generals so you have to pay your way

  11. Are you dealing with LexisNexus or FirstAdvantage?

The reason your new employer is requesting police clearance is often either regulatory or to fulfill the conditions of their liability insurance.

In the latter case these can waive after discussion with HR - basically after you submit a quote for  flights and hotels and 3 weeks in thailand (to reasonable cover the bureaucracy and incompetence involved), I believe they get a waiver from the underwriter after reasonable efforts have been demonstrably made, I think I may of had to sign something too - I cant remember exactly

Next time don't list Thailand as somewhere you've lived in the last five years.
