trump has backed out of a nukular treaty that was working.  he's cancelled nukular arms limitations treaties.  the regime has announced we'll be leaving the open skies treaty.

and recent reports, i assume in news sources you don't approve of, are that our current regime is considering the resumption of nukular testing.

    they should be emotional.

There's no need to stress out because nothing can be changed until the next election unless you're planning impeachment #2.

The Democrats need to get their own house in order and try to win. They are doing exceptionally poorly right now.

I explained why, you just didn't want to hear it.

He did't receive the majority of votes in the US elections. If he'd pulled off the same feat on Brexit, Britain would still be in Europe.

I heard it... you became emotional, and a Trump hater after some incident over a golf course. Don't be too concerned about the Electoral College voting system. It can happen in Australia too... called electorates, but the same deal. You get used to it.

I'm a Brit and can assure you that it's not just those on this forum that think that Trump is a liar, snake oil salesman and mentally challenged. Most of the world thinks the same.

We Brits knew all those things long before he was president. We remember how he acted and spoke when he built a golf course in Scotland.

To call a person that pulled off the impossible "mentally challenged" is ridiculous. A non-politician, businessman winning the presidency is a feat that will likely never be repeated. Didn't he beat 16 strong candidates? I don't understand a non-US citizens like you feeling so emotional about a sitting US president.

To a Trump supporter. Daily proving him to be a liar, snake oil salesman and mentally challenged. Very annoying.

OK, so the take away here is that you don't like Trump and his supporters, and I don't agree with most of what Trump haters say. So what? We are constantly annoyed at each other, and this sentiment is pervasive through the whole community. It's never going to change and shortly I will take a vacation from this thread and leave all the Trump haters alone so they can pat each other's backs and hate... I broke my rules by commenting in a politically charged thread. My bad.

BTW, I'm an Australian. LOLOL. I look at this from an outsider's perspective.

using that logic, slightly more than half the country can save time and ignore anything trump says.

why should the opposition care what trump says about "sleepy joe" or "crooked hillary", and why should any other member of the united nations be concerned about what trump has to say about "lil rocketman" and others.

I don't find it too difficult to leave out the name calling. In fact, it's one thing about Trump I really dislike. There are many other things too. Just because you support one of two parties doesn't mean you need to be onboard with everything they do or say. Both sides are imperfect and all we can do is choose the one that we THINK will do less harm.

It’s an election year, to remove any doubt, I fully on board the effort to remove Trump.

I do however agree with you on the name calling bit, though I note it is a central plank in Trump’s own abusive comments to those he fears.

I myself take the view that Donald Trump, his name, his politics and his behavior is already an insult to decency, there is no need to alter his name or add anything to it.

Thank you for confirming the information that was clear from your submission. Are you here to convince Trump supporters of something, or just here to vent?

Did you manage to keep a straight face when typing 'ALL of his information comes from a distinguished team of experts in all fields of medicine. He hears from the best of the best and has them at his fingertips'?

I'm not sure what specific experts you are refering to but as far as every other expert is concerned, this drug is unproven at best, downright lethal at worse.

P.S. Love your avatar. That's exactly how I picture you

How straight was your face when you dished up that other nonsense? You have your opinion, I have mine... There are 2 sides here, and we shall disagree.

How do you actually know that he is taking it ?

Have you seen him drop some of these tablets, or could it be that he is using his words to get his guinea pigs to try it, if it doesn't work, well I am sure he will say, it works fine on him.

Just remember this guy knew what was coming around the corner when he said it was nothing more than a flu, then later he flipped and said, yeh, I knew it was bad, but I was just trying to be a cheerleader because I didn't want people to panic.

In my opinion, people look at leaders with the titles as President or Prime Ministers as some kind of saviours, personally, they are nothing more that real estate agents wearing suits, oh that's right Humpty Trumpty has a background in that doesn't he.

Everyone should do their own research, and think outside the square, especially doctors.

For 4 years there has been an agenda to remove Trump - before he took office. Just using adjectives such as "humpty Trumpty" puts you straight into the box. If you'd said that earlier in your speech I could have saved time and stopped reading.

Do I think Trump woke up one day and decided hydroxychloroquine would help people with covid-19 infections?

yes.  that is exactly what i believe to be the case.

i suspect he read some mention of the drug on the ticker at the bottom of the screen during fox&friends, and it stuck in his head.  i suspect he went with it, because it's the longest drug name he'd heard so far, so it must be tremendously great.  i suspect during briefings with his experts for the next week, his response to every subject was to inquire about chlor-aquine.  i suspect it aroused a tremendous interest in clor-ox, and other great disinfectants.  and finally, i suspect that is the reason why, on national television, he directed the "experts" to "look into" disinfecting the lungs, like with a cleaning.

Fair enough. I would expect such a belief from an adamant Trump-hater. You have many friends on this forum that will back you up.

You have identified something as anti Trump, but you’ve identified the wrong thing.

The bit that is ‘anti-Trump’ is the reporting of facts and truth.

Truth and facts are always going to be anti-Trump.

It depends on what truth and facts you are using to make your point... who's going to fact check the "facts"?... or if someone calls it the truth, it must be so? Everything that comes out of the mouth of a Democrat is suspect. They need to win - they are desperate - they have a very good incentive to lie about anything and everything.

Please explain why they should not report on research that indicates a medicine that worldwide and in the UK many people are taking against an illness is not working against that illness but may be negative.

They should report on it. Nothing wrong with that. It's their obvious bias in the headline that is off putting. I won't read a report with such a headline. I hope you enjoyed it. This thread headline talks about a drug touted by Trump.... BBC took it a step further by calling it a "Trump Drug".

    Plenty vying for that position.

I don't wish to insult old people, but this highest office, whatever it is, is stressful and there should be some age limit.

This year we had Bernie 78, Biden 77, and Bloomberg 78, vying for the position. Pelosi at 80 is way too old to hold her powerful position. Why isn't there some younger talent in that party? Someone that looks like they could handle 8 years?

It's not a per unit discount, it's a reduction of the number of unit's you've been charged for (or at least that's how our PEA branch has done it). It's a government initiative to aid people during Covid-19.

There are a number of threads but basically:-

If you use less than 800 units your bill will be capped at the February level.

Use between 800 and 3000 units and you will get a 50% reduction on the units over what you used in February.

Use over 3000 units and the discount is 30%.

Our PEA bill has extra printing next to the top amount (above FT and the like) which is the number of units you've been billed for. There's also an overall 3% discount on top.

It's initially going to cover 3 months, although exactly which three seems unclear.

One of many threads explaining, there's also a reduction on water bills ????

Thanks for the info. It was a pleasant surprise for me as I hadn't got the memo. I got a 166 kWh reduction, which is exactly 50% of my usage above my 599 February bill. 932 - 599 (Feb) = 333/2 = 166. The writing can be seen on my bill posted above on this thread.

It's nice to get this discount during the heaviest usage months of the year.

A bit low ^^^ for the average user, see the PEA tariff and calculator linked earlier.

Actually the domestic rate is nearer 4.3 Baht per unit, but depends upon usage.

As the resident expert on all things electric, what do you have to say about the 17.8% discount on kWh that appeared in my recent bill. Do you have any information on that? Is it a one off or will it continue for awhile?

It a discount for me of just over 700 baht. With the addition after tax 3% discount, I've saved more than 800 baht on my current bill.

The BBC has an article that specifically states that your chances of dying are higher if you're given that drug.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-52779309

I see the BBC is getting in on the anti-Trump agenda too. The drug been around for 65 years, when Trump was 8 years old. The BBC need a piece of him too. The article is not worth reading due to its obvious political bias. I don't read or view anything from CNN and some others, so I now have to add BBC to the list.

BBC should focus on their own domestic Covid-19 disaster - currently the worst in the world.

Probably to a cinema, and for sure will be eating out alot. But, the more important points about opening up are that it will take some time to see how this all shakes out, but it is my opinion that the economic fallout from the inane economic shutdown, is going to be 200 times worse than Covid itself, and the recovery "ramp up" will be long and excruciating. Far longer than they say. It will not just bounce back. In the history of the world, as far as we know, there has never been a deliberate worldwide economic shutdown. It is light years beyond dumb. The "slowdown" will last well into 2021, for certain. And some industries may never come back, or will be a pale shadow of their former selves. No doubt homelessness will skyrocket in the US. Tourism in Thailand will never recover to even close to it's former levels, and that leaves millions out of work.

What about concerts? Will people be willing to hang out with crowds of 20,000, at a cost of hundreds of dollars for a crappy seat? Same with sports. Will people be willing to go into a stadium or an arena with 20,000 to 100,000 people close together, and pay crazy money for a seat? Movie theaters? Cruise ships? Will the hordes just start descending on restaurants again, and pay inane prices for a gourmet meal? The list goes on, and on and on. And in the end, hundreds millions worldwide could end up far poorer than they were before. And tens of millions could end up starving to death, compared to perhaps 300,000 or so total deaths worldwide from Covid. OK. The rich stay safe and financially secure. And the rest of us? And those of us who are self employed, without fortunes in the bank? There are so many unanswered questions, it boggles the mind. One thing is for certain. Thailand will be feeling the effects of this for a very, very long time. So will the rest of the world.

I agree with all you said except one thing. I don't think you'll be going to a cinema. To see what? By the time cinemas are open most of us have probably watched all the recent decent movies up until production stopped in March and all the B and C grade movies they usually bring out at the start of the year. Even the next season of your favourite TV show is probably going to be delayed for a year. Did anyone see the season finale of The Blackist? The season was planned for 22 episodes, but they made episode 19 the season finale and had to film it half real and half animated as they had to stop filming in March and couldn't complete it. It was a disappointment, but better than nothing.

    Thanks.

Regarding your bill, หน่วย is "unit."
You used 932 units, and was charged 3228.32฿. Fees and all (and reductions)—and counting the 932 to 766 units as a discount—your electricity is at 3.46฿/unit (3.19฿/unit base rate). EDITED: Standard base rate (without fees, taxes or reductions), you seem to be at 4.13฿/unit.

I think you have the better deal, haha.

At the first place I stayed here for nearly 5 years I paid a surcharge like you are. Not as high as yours, but that was 15 years ago. I had bills over 4000 baht even back then.

I vowed never to move into a place again that had this surcharge. My landlord back then used to justify it (landlord from the UK who should know better) that I'm using his electrical appliances, so it covers wear and tear and replacement costs. Of course they are liable for those costs whether you pay a surcharge or not. To add insult to injury, I complained about the high usage of one air conditioning unit that wasn't working efficiently, but he never did anything about it. I suppose the more I used the more profit he made, so there was no incentive to replace it. I had some bills go over 5000 baht, and that was circa 2008, in a small apartment.

I found out he lowered the rate AFTER I left due to complaints from other tenants.

  18. too late to edit: The above "4.268 baht per kWh" should read 4.368 baht per kWh. That's my normal charge per kWh after the 7% tax has been applied. This number will be a bit lower if I use less. Also, the adjustment factor (-0.1160 in my bill above) can vary from month to month, but that's a very small fraction of the per kWh rate.
