  1. I have been in EXACTLY the same position as the OP by gaining citizenship while holding a Cat B visa in my other nationality passport.

The visa in the other nationality passport is SUPERSEDED by Thai citizenship.

You do NOT have to leave the country using your Swedish passport as you have gained Thai citizenship in the meantime.

You can not be charged overstay when exiting as you have gained Thai citizenship since your entry on a foreign passport.

You are a Thai citizen and must exit and enter Thailand using only your Thai passport.
You can not be denied entry as a Thai citizen.

Immigration officials are not involved in the citizenship process and have absolutely no idea of the process. Interior or foreign ministry officials are where you will get the information you need.

While in Thailand you have all the rights of any other Thai citizen, with the exception of the right to vote as in some circumstances you must wait 5 years.

Please PM me if you want clarity and I can refer you to high level officials who you can speak to in English personally if that helps.

  2. There is an enormous amount of misinformation on this thread.

You do not have to do ANYTHING.

You are a Thai citizen and can not overstay.

The visa in your Swedish passport is now irrelevant and superseded by your status as a Thai.

From now on, you exit and enter Thailand using only your Thai passport.

You can use your Swedish or Thai passport to enter and exit whatever other countries you choose, with the exception of Sweden where you would use your Swedish passport.

    It's that simple.

I have personal experience of this as I have been in exactly the same situation.

You are right. Legally they can't charge an overstay fee to a Thai citizen and as long as she never uses her Swedish passport to enter or exit Thailand she shouldn't have a problem. But unless she exits with the Swedish passport she will get in to a technical overstay. If she then ever wants to exit/enter with that passport (don't know why she would) then she might have a difficult conversation with an IO.

Although legally IO's can't fine a Thai for overstay they do.

The OP has asked for help to get here passports in order. "Enormous amount of misinformation" is an enormous exaggeration!

  4. I use AOT cars or Airport link, depending on luggage volume and time of day, to avoid these queues.

The taxi system is inefficient and the quality of drivers and cars completely unpredictable. Why would I waste my time in a queue to buy into that lottery?

AOT may be much more expensive, but the drivers and cars are predictably professional.

  5. Thanakit and Thonglor dental clinics, in my view. BIDC on Ratchadapisek is just around the corner from me and, yes, their facilities look great, but a dentist there proposed extracting 4 of my then 14-yr old daughter's teeth as part of a straightening program.

We'd previously had an examination by a very trusted orthodontist abroad who had outlined a program that didn't require extractions so the BIDC dentist's plan was alarming, and came with a 1500 baht bill just for the look. Thonglor did the work with no extractions and her teeth are now perfectly straight.

Mahidol Dental Clinic nearby Victory Monument is the very best, I think, but wait times for non-emergency appointments are long, as is the wait time for the actual appointment because it is so popular and relatively cheap.

  6. I use GrabCar (the limo service of GrabTaxi) every day to go to work. Spotless Camry with liveried driver waiting out the front for me to step into; using it again shortly for airport ride and booked for pick up on return. GrabTaxi quite good (but not nearly as); Uber good, too, and UberX (cheaper than taxi rater) just started. Very rarely flag a cab these days.

Beware of filming. I was beaten up on a pavement 2 yrs ago with hundreds of people walking by when I photographed a driver's ID after he'd refused my fare (and at least one other before me) . No one helped, and I speak Thai.

  7. Choonsan, I'd repeat UbonJoe's suggestion. My application, albiet some years ago, was thru Special Branch section handling citizenship at RTP HQ at Patumwan. Very helpful and professional, no graft, and followed it through to conclusion. If you have applied elsewhere, you could refer your application to that office for follow up.

My longest delay was several months between interview at Interior Ministry and gazetting of approval. Total processing time ~ 12 mos, excluding a 4-yr absence from Thailand after lodging application (and during which I let PR lapse). I simply revived it on return and was called for the Interior Ministry interview a few months later.

  8. Apply for citizenship. You qualify and it doesn't necessarily take so long, although it can (2-5+ yrs from application to ID card), The rules have changed and you don't need to first hold PR.
While waiting, switch to Cat O based on marriage. Go for PR if your existing nationality doesn't allow dual citizenship, Based on your status, retirement stay is a cost you don't need to incur.

  9. Interesting isn't it, a woman married to a Thai has no need for money in the bank, however a western male married to a Thai has to just thru' all sorts of hoops, beggars the question - why?

Because females take a thai last name. And a Male is required to care financially to a female. Though not The case in my house of 15,000 amonth

Women don't have to change their last name at marriage; that law was scrapped years ago. A district office official suggested to me years ago when I was getting my ID card done that I should think about changing my name, which I didn't (think about).

  10. One of the nicest places I've camped is Sam Praya Beach in Kao Sam Roi Yot national park. It's very quiet most of the time, but should be avoided on long weekends as it gets very busy.

Khao Yai NP is also a great place to camp if you do so on weekdays outside of school holiday periods. It's a lovely spot to wake up to giant hornbills and gibbon calls. Be sure to secure your food well. I still have a plastic picnic box that we call the ``piggy'' box because a wild boar managed to unlock it and steal our bread! Very nice jungle hikes from the campgrounds, too.

Ramkhamhaeng NP is also good, although I stayed in a cabin rather than tent. Spectacular views from the top of Khao Luang. Again, best avoided during long weekends.

  11. I've had them and they are very hard to see and very hard to get rid of. Get a magnifying glass to look closely in the creases of the mattress to see if you can spot shells of dead bugs. You may not be able to see them with the naked eye, and it's very unlikely you'll see a live one as they move very quickly. You probably have a very low grade infestation, and if you tackle it quickly you can eradicate them with a combination of methods.

The bugs are not necessarily living in the mattress or bed; they may just travel there to have a meal, so treating the bed is not necessarily and probably unlikely going to eradicate your infestation. There's a lot of information on the internet about the creatures, what their weak points and strong points are, what works and what doesn't. There's also a lot of research underway so new methods are emerging that I probably don't know about now.

Steam kills them, and eucalyptus is said to be a deterrent. Rentokil and other pest control companies have packages to tackle them, and you can also rent an industrial grade steamer for the mattress, furniture and any other areas in which they may be taking harbor. Do the research. You don't have to spend a fortune to get rid of them and you most certainly don't have to toss your mattress. Meantime take zyrtec to quell the allergic reaction to the bites.
