  1. Phimeaow, the Thai visa in the Swedish passport is no longer relevant. It is superseded by gaining Thai citizenship. There is no overstay. This is how it works. It's not a question of keeping the Swedish (or any other nationality) passport `clean'.

On a technical point, any Thai using another nationality passport to enter or leave the country risks losing their Thai citizenship as it could be construed as taking advantage of that citizenship in Thailand. That's actually stated in the law, although I've never heard of it being applied. The point being, when in Thailand you use your Thai passport only from the day it's issued. Simple.

  2. I have been in EXACTLY the same position as the OP by gaining citizenship while holding a Cat B visa in my other nationality passport.

The visa in the other nationality passport is SUPERSEDED by Thai citizenship.

You do NOT have to leave the country using your Swedish passport as you have gained Thai citizenship in the meantime.

You can not be charged overstay when exiting as you have gained Thai citizenship since your entry on a foreign passport.

You are a Thai citizen and must exit and enter Thailand using only your Thai passport.
You can not be denied entry as a Thai citizen.

Immigration officials are not involved in the citizenship process and have absolutely no idea of the process. Interior or foreign ministry officials are where you will get the information you need.

While in Thailand you have all the rights of any other Thai citizen, with the exception of the right to vote as in some circumstances you must wait 5 years.

Please PM me if you want clarity and I can refer you to high level officials who you can speak to in English personally if that helps.

  3. There is an enormous amount of misinformation on this thread.

You do not have to do ANYTHING.

You are a Thai citizen and can not overstay.

The visa in your Swedish passport is now irrelevant and superseded by your status as a Thai.

From now on, you exit and enter Thailand using only your Thai passport.

You can use your Swedish or Thai passport to enter and exit whatever other countries you choose, with the exception of Sweden where you would use your Swedish passport.

    It's that simple.

I have personal experience of this as I have been in exactly the same situation.

You are right. Legally they can't charge an overstay fee to a Thai citizen and as long as she never uses her Swedish passport to enter or exit Thailand she shouldn't have a problem. But unless she exits with the Swedish passport she will get in to a technical overstay. If she then ever wants to exit/enter with that passport (don't know why she would) then she might have a difficult conversation with an IO.

Although legally IO's can't fine a Thai for overstay they do.

The OP has asked for help to get here passports in order. "Enormous amount of misinformation" is an enormous exaggeration!

  5. We went the other day, handed the woman at that ticket table our Thai ID cards and she said `4 foreigners' (in Thai)....

When husband replied that only Thai people have Thai ID cards (d'oh), she waved us in for free (to save face, I expect).

I completely disagree with the dual pricing policy, btw. There's absolutely no justification for it at all.

  6. This is an unnecessary and economically detrimental law that highlights an inability to enforce the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act, which bans the sale of alcohol to anyone under 20-yrs old.

A blanket ban of sales within whatever radius of schools won't stop underage drinking, if that's the objective.

More effective (and socially responsible) would be to introduce responsible drinking programs in schools.

Just a little brain activity on the part of regulators could identify simple and effective methods that make it more difficult for underage purchasing of alcohol, like inputting ID number at retail points of sale, for example. ID card is issued to everyone from 14 yrs old up....

  7. Very lucky she didn't die.
So many people die - especially children - here because of electrical faults that wouldn't happen if wiring were properly installed and maintenance work done.
And there is NEVER any accountability.
    Google electric shock death Thailand.
Shameful, along with the horrific road-death toll.
And our self-appointed PM prioritizes controlling lottery ticket prices, beach umbrellas placements and chasing `thought' criminals.

  8. A tiny pinch of potassium permanganate, or Condy's Crystals, eliminates pesticide residue and destroys bacteria from fruit and vegetables.

It's very cheap and much more effective than vinegar.

Should find in aquarium supplier or gardening shop as also used to clean water for fish tanks and eliminate pests from plants.

I have in tiny bottles that I got when I lived in India, where you have to clean everything really well.

This site concisely explains benefits and how to use:

  9. Surely this pronouncement is for domestic consumption since no country, except other totalitarian regimes, would extradite anyone over alleged breaches of article 112.
Given the number of people charged and jailed for unimaginably long terms under the code since the junta seized power, and the latest pronouncement by the junta leader that even discussion of the code is banned, this would seem to be part of the campaign to curb dissent of any form.
I doubt it would get much play if any in NZ media.

  10. Anyone can buy nitrous oxide canisters in any corner store throughout Thailand. It's completely legal.

What a farang-bashing beat up to distract from the real issues that ``affect the image of Phi Phi,'' like the illegal use of deadly insecticide to kill bed bugs that led to the death of the two Canadian sisters at a hotel on the island a few years ago. No follow up on that.

  11. I've used that app twice for the two rejections I've had since downloading it. It works really well. Is in English and Thai, has an option to take photo of license plate or write it in, and you can write the cab rejected you. Simple and fast.
The third time I went to use it, I was about to photograph the license plate when the driver changed his mind and said he could take me.
He drove very well and was very polite. I'd said nothing at all to him other than where I wanted to go in the first place and my usual rejoinder of why are you driving a taxi when he initially refused me.
Whether it was the prospect that I might report him or he had an epiphany I don't know, but I got where I wanted to go without drama.
Yes, GrabTaxi, GrabCar and Uber are better options but sometimes there's a bit of a wait.

  12. I use AOT cars or Airport link, depending on luggage volume and time of day, to avoid these queues.

The taxi system is inefficient and the quality of drivers and cars completely unpredictable. Why would I waste my time in a queue to buy into that lottery?

AOT may be much more expensive, but the drivers and cars are predictably professional.

  13. Tocache, Apologies for the very delayed response as I haven't been following the thread. Very limited English at Mahidol at the booking process but most dentists can communicate clearly enough. Once you're in the system, bookings are relatively flexible. Probably easiest to go in person for the first booking.
