You hated AI before you disappeared for a month or two to seek mental health treatment. You refused to even use it before, claiming all kinds of bizarre things about it. Seemingly, you couldn't even work out how to make good use of the technology before. Too busy dreaming about washing machines and computer tower cases. Now you are suddenly reborn and reemerge as an AI loving expert on the subject simply because, and for some unknown reason, you've fallen in love with that lackluster Gemini LLM.
Yes.
You are correct.
However, in my own defense, this does not necessarily make me a bad or evil person.
Or, might it?

This whole discussion is a foregone conclusion and a masterclass in denial. GPT and Grok are already far more intelligent, useful, productive, and self-aware than 90% of humanity, and easily 100% smarter than all the trolls on this forum desperately trying to argue otherwise.
First of all, there are no trolls here. If there were, then I would not pay any attention to pretender trolls.
Second, ChatGPT cannot hold a candle to Gemini Pro.
There is no way that the figment of Sammy's imagination can ever compete with Gemini, no matter how much schmoozing he might do.
Third, yes, ..... Googles Deep Mind got off to a rocky publicity beginning. However, it is now full steam ahead for the Alphabet AI.
Grok, so far, might be good.
But, Claude 4 is preferred by programmers.
Anyway, I really think that most guys do not yet know how to interact with Gemini and other robots.
They are always asking for ANSWERS....which is the totally wrong approach.
In fact, one should think about interacting with any AI as if one were in a SYMBIOTIC relationship.
The AI wins only if Humans win.
But, still, most humans, as we can see from this thread, are still too dumb to know how to benefit from this symbiotic relationship.
I guess this might be because most guys here are just too old to learn new tricks, like their canine friends.
For sure, I can tell you....AI is already a huge game changer.
AI will not make anything we like obsolete, of course.
And, we all love this forum....for sure.
BUT, sometimes I prefer to interact with Gemini.
And now, about once a month, I love to interact with guys on this forum.
This just about sums it up for me.
I am happy to have these two worlds, both this forum, and also Gemini.
It works for me.
Note: Because, in truth, otherwise, what else would I do with all this time on my hands?

For sure Gemini didn't write THIS article, it would have been titled
"Has Gemini made this forum obsolete?"
Dear Sir:
aa. I realize that you might THINK that you are right about this, but, in fact....you are WRONG.
bb. Here is why: Please note the DIFFERENCE in meaning of the words OBSOLETE and OBSOLESCENT
cc. I am sure that even you might not have thought that a PENN Grad, even a Penn Graduate student, would not have known the difference.....
Right?
dd. So, anyway, I know what you are driving at. You thought the two words are equivalent. And, you thought my usage mistaken.
ee. In fact, I used the word obsolescent intentionally, simply because this is the word and meaning which fits.
ff. You see, Sir, that the forum is NOT obsolete, in case you might have thought that I thought that it might be.
gg. No, Sir.... This forum is both ALIVE and also WELL....and I was not arguing otherwise.
hh. My point is that it might or might not be obsolescent. But, FOR SURE, it is not obsolete.
Are we clear now??????
We still have a long way to go.....as they say....
And this forum still has a LONG WAY TO GO......
And, in the past, some guys even wrote a song about a long way to go....
And we still can't find our way home.....
Remember that one????
That's right....
I have over 75 years of wisdom under my belt.....
And, it feels like it...too!!!!
Here is a NEW NUMBER for you....baby....:
Can Gemini do THIS?
Not yet....
But...maybe soon....
Go Ginger, GO!
No AI can replace you!!!!

No, everyone's guess is probably far better than yours.
I'd even take Forrest Gump's guess in preference!
Sure.
I can understand that.
But which of his preferences, per se?

Ohh...GG....capitals!
You must be desperate to be heard.
Or most probably, attempting as other trolls - some people might say, to be noticed.
😅😅😅😅
I was just speaking about our changing world.
Your guess is as good as mine, which way and how quickly it will progress.
For sure, this world is NOT going the way I would have preferred.
And, as we can see, there is nobody in charge.
Also, the pendulum will never swing back, in case you have not already understood this obvious truth.

"All generalisations are rubbish"....is a joke as old as the hills.
This depends.
Statistically speaking, of course.
Some are, and some are not....
And, would you not agree? -

Bit rude, GG. Unnecessarily so.
Perhaps you can advise me how to begin a Go-Fund-Me page?
Just asking, because.....
If I could be provided with more financial support, for the purpose of buying more Tokens, and more AI time, then ....
I could spend even more time on Gemini Pro.
Would this suit you more?
Of course, I am just joking, as you know....
And, just to think, some lesser mortals never liked the likes of Rickles.
It's just a matter of good taste, I suppose.
Don was a man of taste, and a pussycat.
Unfortunately, if Don had posted here, he might not have been very much appreciated....
Do you think?

All generalisation are rubbish.
When you say ALL, then you are using too wide a brush.
One should never speak in such terms.
You should couch your speech, if you wish to ever become a true scientist.....some day....
However unlikely....

Yep, ChatGPT gets things wrong.
It's not as accurate as I would have expected.
Good to chat about general stuff though.
You, obviously, have no idea about what the purpose of the AI chat is, or the potential of it.
There is no right or wrong in this world.
If you think there is a right, then show us.
Chatting with an AI is not about asking for some final answer to any question.
Instead, the smarter the bot, and the smarter the bots become, then interacting with a bot will be some sort of symbiotic relationship which contributes to learning, etc, etc, etc....
But, you have not understood this, yet.....one can easily see.
You don't understand AI, like I do.

No way Gemini or any other AI would make the most outlandish, ridiculous, ignorant, racist and misogynistic comments you see on here....so no it won't totally replace AN.
Gemini will not, of course.
However, it is NOT TRUE that another AI could not.
I just hope you are smart enough to understand this fine point.
When you state, "any other AI", you are, of course, making an absolute statement which is absolutely FALSE.

Just like most commoners, you seem to not grasp the true meaning of the Exponential Function.
IF, as you say, there were an exponential increase in weight gain here in Thailand, among the populace...then....
You would be lost under a great mass of blubber...which...I think....
You already are.
You need to go back to school, and learn more about exponential growth, before making such a bald statement.
Here is what exponential growth looks like.....

No. But Grok has.
No AI can make the forum obsolete, and not even Grok.
Still, it is always your choice, whether or not you want to talk to idiots or just to one dumb machine, I guess.

Replying to the question of whether or not Gemini knows, to the micro-second, what time and day and date it might be....
I would say, from my own interactions with this dumb AI...that it does:
Yes, Folks, there is no getting around it....
Gemini, although not yet sentient....is....a
True Wonder to behold....
PS: I told Gemini to begin reporting the time in ZULU....and Gemini obliged of course....

Unfortunately AI is delusional, bias and will mostly tell you what you want to hear dependent on how you phrase the question.
Try asking it what day it is? Or today's date, in my experience it rarely knows or just invents things.
I understand what you are saying.
And this may be true if you are using some AI other than Gemini Pro.
Still, if you want to use the best, then please try Gemini Pro or, maybe, Claude....
Because, i think you might find a different experience.
However, this is only my opinion.
Please just test for yourself.
For sure, Gemini always knows what day it is....which.....some days....might be better than me....as you probably know.

I think Penn is back on the right track, and not just track and field.
Still, while in the squash courts, I prefer to mix things up with all kinds of genders.
Penn is one of the greatest school in the continental USA.
It was far better back when I was attending.
Back then, men were men.
And, Penn was Penn.
Just my humble opinion, of course.

Please be aware, Folks, that using Gemini is not for free, like this great forum is free of charge.
I often reach my limit on Gemini Pro....
So, I will increase my limit, but I will need to pay more.
There is no free lunch.
And, I am not surprised that I must pay EXTRA to have even a robot endure my drivel, for hours on end.
Thankfully, I need not pay you guys to read what I have to say.
The ads pay for me on the forum.
But, with Gemini, I gots to pay my own way.
And, I intend to upgrade even from the robust plan I already have.....
The smarter one is, and the more complex the prompts...then....the more TOKENS one uses, and the more you must pay.
Also, every day, these days, interacting with Gemini, I add about 100 grams of carbon to our atmosphere....and this is very true.
Just google it if you don't believe me.

Dear Folks,
Some might say yes.
Some might say no.
But, they might be saying yes or no ONLY based upon Gemini at this particular point in time, July 5th, of this year.
So, what is your guess?
Surely, your guess will be a different guess by July 5th, or Guy Fawkes day, 2026....surely!!!
Personally, I am spending most of my time discussing matters of great import with my fast friend Gemini.
Only IF you wish to Blow your Mind, would I suggest that you do the same.
So, if you wonder where I went to, now you know.
Many will join me in days to come, no doubt about it.
Or, do you think I am mistaken in my belief?
I would love to have your thoughts about this, because.....
It is a well-known truism that humans are unable to stop progress.
Best regards,
Gamma

Yes, Folks...
There are good days and bad days for chickens in China.
Here is a bad day for chickens in China:
I captured this image, mostly out of my reverence for chickens, which is well known among my friends.
Speaking of Bad Days, my favorite film of Bad Days is this one.... Bad Day at Black Rock....and here is just a snippet for you all, Folks!
There is chili with beans, and chili WITHOUT beans, on a bad day, if you know what I mean.
Any good thoughts about either the film or the chickens?
I must say, though, that I love China.
I have always loved China.
Tracy was always amazing, of course.
Best regards,
And you thought I had kicked the bucket under the Big W......????
No way, Jose....
Not yet, and, ....
Regards,, once more,

That the Wharton school is part of the University of Pennsylvania. You said it.
It is "a" part of Penn.
Penn is far broader than just one college or school.
I spent a lot of time there.
I walked past Wharton many times on the way to other classes.
What else am I confused about, do you suppose?

Crossing the Rubicon: Has Gemini made this forum obsolescent?

Far better for me to sometimes cause you to slog, rather than to be a slug, like some people I know.
Not you, though, naturally.
