Non-B Visa Extentio After Lost Passport and Visa-Exempt Re-Entry
Hello everyone! I would like to ask for clarification regarding a situation my friend is currently facing. She traveled to her home country in October and obtained a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand. Unfortunately, while abroad, she lost her passport and was later issued a new one. When she re-entered Thailand through Don Mueang Airport, she presented a photocopy of her lost passport along with the re-entry permit. However, the immigration officer stamped her new passport with a visa-exempt entry instead of transferring or activating the existing visa. She later extended this visa-exempt stay by 30 days at the immigration office, which now expires on 5 February 2026. The permission to stay linked to the lost passport would have expired on 8 February 2026, and the visa in that passport was never formally cancelled. She recently returned to the immigration office with a Thai co-worker to seek advice and was told that she could exit to Laos and re-enter Thailand, and that the Non-B visa extension from the old passport could be transferred into the new passport since it was still valid. My concern is about the legal effect of exiting Thailand without a re-entry permit, as doing so would normally cancel any existing visa, making it invalid. In addition, she has already entered Thailand on a visa-exempt stamp in her new passport rather than using the Non-B visa. Given these circumstances, is it really possible to transfer and use the existing Non-O visa from the old passport, even though it was not used on entry and no re-entry permit would apply to that visa anymore? Due to the uncertainty, she is now considering applying for a new Non-B visa in Savannakhet instead. Any insight or shared experience would be greatly appreciated.

Question About Extending Non-O Visa After Weekend Expiry
Just to update everyone: my visa extension was successful. It is currently under consideration though, but I was not fined and did not receive any overstay stamp. The process was quick and straightforward, and they did not raise any questions about the overstay at all. Thanks again to everyone for the advice and support.

Question About Extending Non-O Visa After Weekend Expiry
Thank you very much for the helpful advice, I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this. That is reassuring to hear, especially regarding the overstay not being a major issue in cases like this. I will follow your suggestion and attend immigration on Monday after the Sunday expiry. Hopefully, as you mentioned, there will be no stamp or fine. I am also grateful for the reminder about applying earlier for future extensions. I will definitely plan to submit my next application well in advance to avoid this situation again. Thanks again for your guidance.

Question About Extending Non-O Visa After Weekend Expiry
My current permission to stay expires on the 18th, which is a Sunday. Yes, that is exactly why I am seeking clarification. I understand that having an overstay stamp in the passport is not ideal and should be avoided if possible. I am also considering whether it would be better to apply first for a 60-day family visit extension, as I believe I have not used that option yet on this Non-O visa. I would like to add that the immigration officer mentioned that it may still depend on the discretion of the supervising officer as to whether a fine would be imposed or not. My fault, I didn't check it that 18th is weekend. Thanks Bro!

Question About Extending Non-O Visa After Weekend Expiry
Hi everyone, I would like to clarify my situation and ask for advice. I went to the immigration office yesterday to ask whether I could extend my Non-O visa (based on having a Thai child) on the 16th of this month, which falls on a Friday. My required funds were only completed on 17 November 2025, so from 17 November to January would be exactly 60 days. The immigration officer told me that the 60-day rule is no longer strictly followed and that I must apply on the 17th instead, which unfortunately falls on a Saturday. The last day of my current permission to stay is the 18th, which is a Sunday. The officer then advised that I could apply for the extension on Monday, 19 January, but I would be fined for one day of overstay and could still proceed with the extension. Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Is it really possible to extend a visa with a one-day overstay?

Non 0 Based on Child visa stamp
Thanks. I booked an appointment 30 days prior. Applied on a Monday and got Wednesday. I submitted signed copies by the mother child's birth certificate and house registration and mother signed copies of Thai Id and house registration. I add a copy of my bank account and it was returned. I talked to immigration about extending to 1 yr. They said I need 400k baht in the bank and legitimization of me as the father of the child since we are not married by the mother. So went District office , child me and wife, with 2 witnesses, interviewed, they asked for the translation of my name in Thai and my mother and father's names also, Took not more than 2 hours.

Non 0 Based on Child visa stamp
Hi, I got a Non-o visa based on having a Thai child in Vientiane. When I entered Thailand at Nongkai, I was given a 90 days stamp . I used to get only 60 days. Is there any mistake? What should I do?

Non - O based on having a Thai Child
I'm living with the child but not married to the mother. I had already gotten a Non-o based on being a parent 10 years ago and worked also a teacher.

Non - O based on having a Thai Child
I think you need to "legitimized" your being a father if you are not married to the mother at the district office to get 1 year extension and 400k baht..
