  1. I think is interesting for all the people here in the forum understand the reason why Sunbelt

discourage investments in a certain places and right after he open (or Re-Open) his own business right there.

Everybody should think and take decision with his own brain, no doubts about, that's what I did

despite Sunbelt comments and I'm very happy to be here now, otherwise following his suggestions

I never ever move to Samui.

I want to thanks in any case Sunbelt because he was always helpful and all the information's

regarding Visa's are sharp and coming free of charge, about business and properties

I personally think they should be more consistent.

Hopefully this post will be read as a constructive one, for further improvements, believe me

when I say that is not my intention to make it polemic.

    Regards

  2. I saw a Bentley on Samui yesterday. Driven by a farang.

The very first thought in my mind is "Why?" What drive a 6 million baht or more car on roads that will take it apart in no time?

Maybe just here for short time but I would have rented a jeep or something to get around in.

Or, as the saying goes, maybe he has more money than brains.

He is from Pattaya, the car is new and he made a nice "test Drive" down here where he has biz to do.

    Yesterday he left.

With 6 million thb you probably just buy the wheels and seats of that Bentley.

In general you need to have brain to afford this type of toys, not the opposite.

    B.Regards

"In general you need to have a brain to afford this type of toys..." :o ??? are you serious :D ??!!...you mean like all the drug dealers, gansters etc (both farang AND Thai!) on Samui laundering their money here or the guys in the "premiership" or NBA or rap/hiphop/movie stars or president Bush (or most world "leaders" for that matter) or the former farmers and fishermen with a 1st grade education and the mental/emotional maturity of a 10 year old and who act like it from samui who suddenly got a ton of cash from a foreigner (please meet the head of Samui Estate Corporation ONE time and then TELL me he is anything but brain dead!)???...So very sorry, but if you think having a bunch of money equals the presumption of intelligence then you are not so sharp yourself...far more often its simply a matter of birth or, on this island, something far far more sinister.

Oh please do not start with this... come on do not offend yourself, I WROTE "In general" if you read.

You start like : All the rich people must be bad people because they have money.

There are people who is rich from family as you said too, people who get rich tks to their ideas or because

they risk their own money to open biz which give jobs to other people too.

And there are the bad ones like everywhere in the world (not Samui only).

The OP talk about a specific case, I know the person and I know he did use his brain, that's all.

I'm not a rich guy I always worked and I'm working here too to buy my chicken, but I do respect

the people who decide to take the risk with their own money.

    Regards

  3. No, whats funnier is how two different people have two different stories about the same guy :o

No stories about nobody, only answered to the OP, I did not like it.

I know well the guy for reasons that I do not need to explain and he's a good friend.

You look the OP and my answer, nothing to do with cars or ladies.

    Cheers

  6. Just wondering where I can get some insurance for the contents of my house?... I want to insure my computer and tv against theft.

    If that's possible out here?...

    Any recommendations?...

Lap top can not be insured but desk top yes, we insure with M.V.Consult he is before Big Buddha.

if you want details PM me I will give you number and name.

    Bye

  7. I often wonder why TV even has a property section, a condo investment section and a house/land investment warning on it is all that is needed.

Sections like this just encourage castles in the sky and dodgy con men to try and get in on the action.

    more sections - more $$$

It is simply amazing that so many people continue to buy into these scams and bad investments.

It is simply amazing that so many people continue to talk about this issue since 2 years in this forum and nothing

bad happen, no one report a bad experience like money lost or house or land, vice versa its a good investment,

good money, good profit the rest are only words, no facts.

Buy a holiday house for pleasure or investment it is pretty safe and normal if you respect the basic rules

    and you have good advises.

Obviously if some wants speculate to much thats another issue but this kind of people are keen to risk money

because it's the same for them to play in Casino or stocks market.

Enjoy and keep talk for many TV members it's fun, tks !!

  8. The title says it all really, is there anywhere on Phangan/Samui I can buy a pH tester, or failing that some litmus paper, and a set of electronic scales (accurate to 0.1g).?

I know Purapool (www.purapool.com) shop in Bophut close to Boncafe and Samui Prestige Homes on ring road.

about 1000 Thb the test include Ph and chlorine test.

If you want PM me I give you the ph number.

    Bye

  9. I did open a saving account (the only option) at Ayudhya bank in Koh Samui

without WP at that time with no problems and walk out with my VISA electron as well.

They told me no interest for "Falang" only Thai can have.

Is that true ? Same thing with others banks ?

Now I have a WP, any advise how to get interest ?

In particular I'm curious to understand how it can be call

    SAVING.....it should be call freezing.....

    Amazing Thailand

    Cheers

  10. Hi, I can assure you the tower is going head and pretty busy selling as well.

That's also why less advertise about.

I work for a partner company of this project and exclusive Agent locally. (I'm not in pattaya)

Big party in June for the start of building. Mercedes 500 won with Lucky draw from

    one of the clients...

Hum... so impressive. I mean really.

A mercedes 500 ? Oh la la la. That's crazy ! Make my day ! And the party ? Free food ? Where I can sign ? Right now !

You should go back to your marketing studies... It's pathetic. Who is going seriously to buy at such prices, in such a shithole like Pattaya ?

The whole project is a dead end.

Members of the Forum asked questions about the Ocean Tower 1 and I just write the prices

and the info's I know, so sorry if I replied in order to give info's, I think this is the spirit

of this forum, in any case I wrote down the facts, I also said I do not like it,

probably you miss it, but people buy so do not blame me, blame the buyers....

By the way my Marketing studies went well thanks for asking and I'm sorry to disappoint you

but I was not involved in Ocean Tower 1 marketing.

    B.Regards

  11. Publicity for Ocean 1 seems to have tailed off sharply over the last few months Not sure whether they are doing so well they no longer have to advertise or whether they developers are just letting the idea that anyone would build such a tall building in this area slowly slip from peoples memories

Personally I do not like too much because I do not like condominiums or big things,

I prefer small and nice houses with palms, much more compatible with the environment and I really hope that

the Thai Govt. will not encourage the developments co. for this kind of staff,

but till ownership law will allow to own apt. in a condo that's (unfortunately) what going to happen...

It's better just allow property till 1 rai per family surname and/or 90years leese and encourage well

built nice villas or small townhouses ? Ok this is not the subject of OP sorry...

  12. Many thanks for your replies, really appreciate.

She sleeps outside in the garden, this morning when I wake up

I noted her culinary nigh time diet :

    my crocks (only 1)

my slipper (only 1) she probably prefer odd pair of shoes...very trendy...

my Oregon scientific digital temperature probe

my coconut ashtray (I hope she will not smokes in the future)

last but not least she bite my "Sales office" sign on the door

She is young and she needs a bit of education I believe, but our main

question is : in which language ? I'm joking, but looks more effective say "Mai" rather then NO.

She drinks the Chlorine water in the swimming pool even if, every time we see her,

we go after with a water bowl to teach... do you think its dangerous ?

  13. In our Villas development there are lots of street dogs, I do not mind at all,

one of those dogs decided that it was time for her to find a family and now

"she adopt" me and my wife,

we called Lola and now its about 3 weeks she stay in our house,

I do not know the age but less then 1 year for sure.

I have a dog in my country as well since years but I would appreciate

if some of you have suggestions about special health treatment to be done

and an affordable veterinary on the Island, better if in Nathon area,

I will drop a visit to Pet House on the ring road after the four Season Hotel and before

Nathon to see if they have a Vet.

Do you have any suggestions for us ?

    Tks and Cheers

  14. my 2 cents.

April - May - June I did not see one single client step in our real estate,

    no inquiry, no interest shown.

In the last 3 weeks we sold 7 houses.

Ok let's say that we have our own develop. and we are not only a broker

so this help us a lot, in particular because we do not sell stand alone houses but we sell

villas on the beach in a Resort with all services.

Situation is unpredictable, in general I noted that lots of people with money is buying now,

on the other hand family and private small investor thinking a lot before put down their money

    which is understandable.

  15. I'm arriving to Ko Samui on Aug 13-19 (maybe till the 21st if I decide to skip phuket) and was wondering what you all think about the possibility of finding decent accomodations on arrival.

I am so confused as to where to stay, and past experience I always end up booking a place which is next to a much nicer one or quieter one, I thought maybe I should just come and see once I am there.

I am also debating between staying in Ko Tao as well... Any help greatly appreciated.

We (wife myself and baby) are looking for a nice location (picturesque) with nice views, not on chewang or too busy of a spot, serene, budget of $150.. (also would Ko Tao fit my criteria better than samui?)

    Thanks in advance!

You can try Lipa Noi Beach, South of Nathon, nice , no busy, no risk while swimming, affordable prices, but may be to quite for you.

    Cheers

  16. Ive been trying to contact Sunbelt Samui.

So I need a alternative which I can get in touch with fast regarding a 1year multiple entry visa.

Sunbelt has been close in Samui.

    Regards

  17. It's happen to me as well, I rent it from "fat Oak" and 5 min later... gone...

Cost me 150 bath, I already know that tyre punchart are not covered so I did not even ask

him, but I was lucky enough to be still in Chaweng area and did ask to a couple of them

before to repair it but price was only slightly different one asked for 250 the other 150....

    Cheers

Ps.: always ask in advance the cost of everything in Samui...

  18. Only my 2 cents...

Why take all this "risks" and having headache for 25.000 bath only ?

I mean I'm not saying that are peanuts but still...

Just close it regularly and sleep well whenever you will have a bed.

In case, after some years you want to come to LOS again, no problems.

or do you prefer take the risk to be refuse to entry in the apt. after paid

an air ticket that alone will be more expensive then closing up ?

    Cheers

  19. One question: it is actually possible to apply for a work permit without having to pay 20/30 thousand Baht under the table? Not every farang is rich here..

Have you paid anything “under the table” for a work permit? I don’t think so. That was a stupid and unwarranted allegation to make.

Some people use the services of a lawyer and they pay the lawyer’s fee plus VAT “on the table”.
