  1. Next time your at the doctors office or hospital ask out a nurse or doctor.   At a restaurant ask out the waitress or cashier. At mall or stores  ask out employees.

I dated TV reporter, journalist, Realtor , model; sales ladies, waitresses etc

  2. 1st off manila isn't the city to relax in or judge the philippines on. Same kind of as Angeles / Clark. Yes there is more poverty but allot of world wonders. #1 tourist destination , boracay island is like phuket was 15 yrs ago. Volcanoes,Rice terraces, world wonders, There is so many places to see , I don't know where to start. I've been to both Thailand & Philippines over 2 dozen times each & both have different advantages. Lastly corregidor island is a fantastic tour if your into war history.

  3. I have been told in the past that its not $50,ooo but $10,ooo with is a serious difference.. we need to have this amount confirmed!!!

A new law called the Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act (Fatca) will, from 1 July next year, require all financial institutions around the world to report directly to the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) all the assets and incomes of any US citizens with $50,000 (£31,000) on their books. The US could withhold 30% of dividends and interest payments due to the banks that don't comply.

So you split your assets up among a variety of banks in Thailand and never let a balance exceed 50 k usd so the banks report nothing...it would be wise to have several accounts anyway since eventually the Thai version of FDIC only insures each bank account up to 1 million baht.....unless you are a very wealthy person I don't see the problem. As for spending 5000 usd to pay someone to file your taxes then somebody is either very lazy, dumb, or rich. As previous poster said there are all kinds of tax software programs available.

Can't imagine giving up my usa citizenship and unlike someone in the article who says she doesn't know any Americans who are NOT considering it I frankly don't know any who ARE considering.

  4. Mutual funds have advantages compared to direct investing in individual securities. These include:

    • Increased diversification
    • Daily liquidity
    • Professional investment management
    • Ability to participate in investments that may be available only to larger investors
    • Service and convenience
    • Government oversight
    • Ease of comparison

Mutual funds have disadvantages as well, which include:

    • Fees
    • Less control over timing of recognition of gains
    • Less predictable income
    • No opportunity to customize
  5. A few years ago I flew right in to Clark its near angeles city Philippines & there are tons of travel agents; I use one that is near DAU bus station cause she knows me but there arte tons of places.. I signed all the paperwork & paid her everything and in a few days got my thai visa before I was ready to leave back for Thailand. She took my passport to the Thai embassy in Manila but , she has connections there & was in & out same day I think... another great option

  6. Airlines will also be encouraged to use check-in counters at Makkasan Rail Station. cheesy.gif Until you make the link and access to the Makassan Rail Station convenient for passengers the airlines can use them as much as they like but that can't force passengers to use the ill conceived service. Is Thailand taking tourism management advice off Indonesia and the Philippines at the moment? certainly appears that way?facepalm.gif

Thanks I didn't know that Makassan had this convenient service open yet. I use it in Hong Kong & it works great so when I have business in BKK i'll give it a try

  7. Cagayan De Oro is for the most part a safe & Peaceful City!!

Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno, who is in Macau to show the City Government’s support to Milan Melindo’s world title boxing fight, condemned in the strongest term the bombing incident.

“What a condemnable and despicable act! This has no place in a peaceful community like ours. My heart bleeds for the victims and his families. Board Member Roldan Lagbas was very close to me personally,” he said in a statement sent to Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.

  8. It use to be true but always changes; back in 2008: Shortly after the military coup of 2006, back to back tourist visas were disallowed and a "90 out of 180 days rule" was imposed. Never mind this rule because that was discontinued in 2008 by the democratically elected administration. You can now get back to back tourist visas and stay in Thailand a long time without any problems, or just get visas on arrival -- the so called "border runs" or "visa runs" whereby you can take a bus to go step over a border and back.
