  1. Don't require a pub or club for what your on about, all goes on under peoples noses.

I can remember when i was a teenager, maybe some people on TV are just to old or never had fun when they were young.

If people on TV think the authorities care about young people in Thailand, they are wrong.

Anchorites only care about there own positions and money.

Its one of the negative sides of Thai culture. Me, Me, Me and more Me.

Go have fun kids, one day you will be old. wai2.gif

Used to be able to drink 24/7 in pattaya, much more fun then.

Yeah pattaya was better back then, if asleep & woke up at 4am still could go out to a beer bar , drinking & get girls. They closed at 6am & news places opening at 8am hahaha. Lots cheaper beer to cause sold 200% more due to it being available. Pattaya should have a waiver & return to these ways!!! It will make more $$$ money is a no-brainer !!!

  2. When one looks at Thailand from the outside .. bars, prostitution and corruption springs to mind.Perhaps the Government should consider and ask itself, is the image that the country wants to portray to the world ?

    I think they have considered.

Removing hookers and beer from Pattaya would add up to quite a bit of lost jobs and money.

    Looks like business as usual.

Plus many people who own condos, will sell & go elsewhere if they closed bars down completely.

  3. They can only give a reprimand because the conditions at that school are not different than at many other places.

No smoke detectors, no fire plan or drills, no regulations to fulfill.

It should be a cautionary tale which could change the system. but actually it barely made the news.

In Thailand who does the safety responsibilities fall on in this situation? This school is exactly like many other schools, except they paid the consequences with 17 young lives. R I P

  4. 1st off manila isn't the city to relax in or judge the philippines on. Same kind of as Angeles / Clark. Yes there is more poverty but allot of world wonders. #1 tourist destination , boracay island is like phuket was 15 yrs ago. Volcanoes,Rice terraces, world wonders, There is so many places to see , I don't know where to start. I've been to both Thailand & Philippines over 2 dozen times each & both have different advantages. Lastly corregidor island is a fantastic tour if your into war history.

  5. I lived next to a very attractive girl who worked at the shop that was raided...she was also a model and actress for print and commercials here in Thailand, and would work "massage" at night...according to her bf, who was a farang, she made about 100,000 a month in tips and salary...I doubted it initially...but he was a young guy, and she took care of him entirely...her plan was to work for five years of so, and purchase a home for her family, and a condo in bkk for herself...

  6. Yellow fever can be prevented by vaccination. Travelers should also take precautions against mosquito bites when in areas with yellow fever transmission. Travelers should get vaccinated for yellow fever before visiting areas where yellow fever is found.

If you continue to live or travel in yellow fever-endemic areas, you should receive a booster dose of yellow fever vaccine after 10years.The vaccine is given only at designated yellow fever vaccination centers. International regulations require proof of yellow fever vaccination for travel to and from certain countries. People who get vaccinated should be given an International Certificate of

Vaccination. Also note that the vaccine is to be given at least 10 days before travel to an endemic area.

  7. Why would a Japanese person want a selfie of all things standing on the site of such a great national shame? 'Would be like a German wanting a picture of himself standing next to one of the ovens.

You would be surprised. In fact, there are a lot of Japanese apologists who think they acted swell during WWII. That said, I bet it was one hell of a photo.

Here's a photo of a Darwin Award candidate taking a train selfie, and being kicked by the train's conductor so he wouldn't fall into the train.

IN JAPENESEE its also a Tellfie = 自分撮り Jibun-dori = SELFIE

  8. Since they seem to allow masks now, what exactly is the point of the photos?

Underneath the photo, it explains it is the mask he was wearing, when he carried out the attack.

Its great they let him pose wearing the mask huh. Maybe let him pose with his gun too .

I hope he gets 30yrs in prison, minimum...

  9. I have been told in the past that its not $50,ooo but $10,ooo with is a serious difference.. we need to have this amount confirmed!!!

A new law called the Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act (Fatca) will, from 1 July next year, require all financial institutions around the world to report directly to the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) all the assets and incomes of any US citizens with $50,000 (£31,000) on their books. The US could withhold 30% of dividends and interest payments due to the banks that don't comply.

So you split your assets up among a variety of banks in Thailand and never let a balance exceed 50 k usd so the banks report nothing...it would be wise to have several accounts anyway since eventually the Thai version of FDIC only insures each bank account up to 1 million baht.....unless you are a very wealthy person I don't see the problem. As for spending 5000 usd to pay someone to file your taxes then somebody is either very lazy, dumb, or rich. As previous poster said there are all kinds of tax software programs available.

Can't imagine giving up my usa citizenship and unlike someone in the article who says she doesn't know any Americans who are NOT considering it I frankly don't know any who ARE considering.

  10. Mutual funds have advantages compared to direct investing in individual securities. These include:

    • Increased diversification
    • Daily liquidity
    • Professional investment management
    • Ability to participate in investments that may be available only to larger investors
    • Service and convenience
    • Government oversight
    • Ease of comparison

Mutual funds have disadvantages as well, which include:

    • Fees
    • Less control over timing of recognition of gains
    • Less predictable income
    • No opportunity to customize
  11. A few years ago I flew right in to Clark its near angeles city Philippines & there are tons of travel agents; I use one that is near DAU bus station cause she knows me but there arte tons of places.. I signed all the paperwork & paid her everything and in a few days got my thai visa before I was ready to leave back for Thailand.
