At last we're ready to get on the plane tomorrow but it was all a bit nerve wracking. I applied for the TP for my wife and myself on the 01.11., after technical help from people on this forum, and got a registration confirmation the next day. I received my QR code on the 6th but my wife's didn't arrive until yesterday. I'm afraid I also made multiple applications but it was indeed the first that got approved. Emails to the support address were, like everybody else's, not answered. Now we have uploaded our QR codes and negative PCR results to the Eithad booking system for verification and we are looking forward to landing on Phuket on Saturday morning.
International travel during a pandemic is not uncomplicated and this by no means applies just to Thailand. In France recently I forgot my mobile phone and therefore my EU Covid Pass and they wouldn't let me into a restaurant. There are hoops to jump through just about everywhere, just their diameter varies.
But I'm well aware that in spite of all the hassle there are also upsides to the situation. We now get get to visit an amazing country that is not overrun like it has been for decades and we also got some amazing prices for accommodation that have allowed us to book hotels that would normally be out of our reach financially. There is no such thing as a free lunch.
Thanks again to everyone who took time to post helpful and constructive comments here. See you on the beach.
