  1. I Just Registered My Baby Girl Who Was Born Last Week Got Her Birth Certificate Within 20 Mins All The Process Went Well No Problems, Now In The Process Of Getting her Registered for the Uk. So hopefully that will go smoothly just like the thai side.

Also She Will Remain Dual Until She Is 20 Years Of Age Then She Will Have To Make A Decision, Thai Or Farang Cant Have Both After That. So As They All Say In Thailand (UP TO HER) To Make Her Own decision Hope This Is HelpFull To You.

And The Scouses Info Is Great Print It Out And Keep It And When You Start The Process You Have Something To Work From Good Luck.

  2. The degree wasn't checked because he came from another school and already had a teacher's license. Now, that said, at that time, we didn't routinely check a degree anyway. It wasn't a requirement and the presumption, for the most part, was that people were honest.

People were occasionally checked because it seemed clear that they weren't what they presented themselves as. And sometimes these folks checked out as OK.

On more than one occasion people have turned in fake Master's Degrees. It was flagged and they were confronted. In those instances they had a legitimate Bachelor's Degree and they were accepted based on that. The Master's wasn't filed with the MOE. etc.

I am sorry that some people see the school as being complicit in this. Most schools, ourselves included, don't have the manpower to be "investigators". When I interview people and they present documents my assumption is that they are legitimate. If they come with a valid work permit and teacher's license then I presume the previous school has checked them out.

The same is true with the police clearances. We get folks who submit a police clearance from the last place (country) they worked and it's accepted by the MOE. I am not at this point going through their passport thoroughly to find everywhere they've been and writing to the police in those different countries.

By and large, most people are basically honest. The main thing you see is a bit of embellishment.

if he had a license from a other school when you employed him, he cant work for your school with that licese. you should have went through the procedure of a new foriegn employee starting with you. so 50/50 let him go, and learn from your mistakes.

  3. what is amazing is he was apparently hit on the face and since he had the back of the neck swollen too he was probably hit there as well; still the report talks about the stick hitting him (maybe the stick should be put to prison) and that he fell on the floor. It sounds rather like he was first hit at the front and then a second time at the back of the neck. Horrible :o . This reminds me the case of the German who, a few months ago and while still waiting trial, was found dead in his cell with his hands tied behind his back and a sock down his throat and the authorities said it was suicide. How can you put a sock down your throat if you have (managed to) tie your hands behind your back? amazing

why dont we send a post to all the farang newspapers and tv stations back home and try and generate some coverage about this incident. and maybe not so much farang incidents will get swept down that big black hole.

i feel for the poor guy and his family.

  4. i mean it needs stuff added to it and some changes to it and made more proffesinonal, i can keep the rest up to date its html, it has been done with dreamweaver. i am in chiangmai so be good if i could get someone there thanks

  5. There are two places that I would recommend. Both stores have multiple locations around the city: Jipata and Titanyutat (spelling??). Jipata has a store on Nimenhemin and Mae Rim Road. Titanyutat has a location about 500m past Rimping on Mae Joe Road. You can buy plain shirt as well as get embroidered things put on them. I bought my staff uniforms (polo shirts) at Titanyutat for 120 baht a shirt and they seem to be good quality. Jipata was similar price.

thanks is it on the left hand side of the maejo rd going towards carfour

  6. Hey guys do any of you know where i can buy plain polo shirts and plain sweatshirts in chiangmai, good quality ones, ive tried everywhere im hoping to buy a lot im looking for dark blue cheers guys

  7. As I said it is not true that you can extend any visa in Thailand every 3 months. Nor can you extend your stay for one year on the basis of having a Thai child. The best you can obtain is as I said - a multi entry and make border runs every 90 days but that is not going to happen from Vientiane. The next is a new visa every three months with a visit to Vientiane or other consulate.

Sorry Marshall, as you are not married or over 50 Lopburi is as always 100% correct.

Ok So I Can Get 3 Month Visa What Stamp Do I get On Entry Back Into Thailand. As You Know We Get 3 Month Tourist Visa And Only Get 2 Month On entry Can You Clarify This For Me Re Baby Visa. Non o Thanks Guys Marshall

  8. Is there any way to speed up the process in Vientiane and get a visa in one day? I need a new tourist visa and everything is closed over songkran. Is there a reliable agent who can help me?

yes i used him because i missed the consulate. the service that you require is the express service i asked him how much he charges and he informed me 8.000 baht give me a call if you want more info 0895947925 marshall

  9. Hey guys just back from vientenne got my 2nd tourist visa no problem. however missed the embassy and chose to get one of the agents to do my visa as i had not planned to stay in lao for a extra day. anyway he charged me 2800 baht got my visa the next day no problems there. as i chatted to the agent and telling him that i have a baby coming in june and could he get me a longer visa he informed me he could do for me no problem all i have to do is bring the babies birth certificate and he can get me a 3 month visa and i will be able to extend it every 3 months in thailand without having to leave can anyone inform me if there is any truth in this thanks marshall

You would get a single entry Non O Visa valid for 90 days after which you would have to leave Thailand and get another one. I assume the child is Thai.

You may have other options if you are married to the mother or you are over 50.

    More information needed.

Im not married and im not over 50. yes my baby is thai, i think this is the visa the agent is speaking about but he has stated that i can extend or travel to the border and get another 3 months is this correct or not, i plan to registar my baby at the uk embassy so as she can have 2 passports thai and brittish any info would be gratefully accepted thanks marshall

  14. Indeed it doesn't. Then again I currently DO rent in a gated community and AM paying 5000. (But I dind't tell her 5000, I double-tripled that to 10-15K to be sure).

Same here. Moved into a brand new house in a gated community. 2 stories, 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, 3 airconditioners and 'fully' furnished and not generic furniture plus a phone line. 7000 Baht/month. Just need to shop around.

Hey I have a friend who gets his kid picked up and dropped off everyday for school, he pays 2000 baht per month. thats about 28 quid.

i stay in a secure village. it has a leisure centre and swimming pool. one of my farang friends is renting his 3 bedroom house out. it is located right next to where the security guard sits 24 hours a day. it is fully furnished i think. have a look at his post im sure its in this forum, or you may find it in the for sale and classified.

i have a thai gf who speaks good english she is currenly pregnant just now our baby girl will arrive in 2nd june

so maybe you could make friends with her and you can help each other, good luck. take your time with things, i remember when i first came to thailand and i jumped into a 6 month lease very expensive once i got chatting to other farang.

  16. I have lived in CM now for 2 seasons and have been disappointed with night clubs. If it is for Thais, there is not a dancing floor and the music/songs are in Thai. When there is a bit more of a dancing floor and English music, it is hip-hop and/or a club with no smoking restrictions (like Bubbles and Spicy). Riverside does not have much of a dance floor.

So, where can one dance like in the old country in CM?

Well! There is this little gem. It is located on the second floor in the Lotus Hotel (near Kad Suan Kaew, off Huay Kaew Road, behind the Chiang Mai Orchid). There is a 5 band member Philipino band singing and playing English classic English or Latin songs (if you request them). The floor is huge. The sound is not too loud. The lighting is not too bright or too dark. There are plenty places to sit. The place is huge and I would think smoking would be dissipated fast into the air. The buffet is not great, but some of the a la carte dishes are not bad. The drinks are the usual price for a night club (a bit less than Bubbles though). I think the band plays every night except one. Starting time is 10 pm. The singer is a good-looking woman with a good voice and a real presence. The guitarist is real good.

People,... support this place before it dies. There are not that many people going to it because the marketing sucks. Go there instead of Bubbles (which has DJs playing hip-hop all night long in a smoky atmosphere and drinks that are in the 100 Baths for beer and such). If you are so inclined go to Spicy after, but beware of the smoke and the withdrawal symptoms the day after.

PS: Smokers: Could you please do everyone a favour and smoke outside so that WE non-smoker do NOT get cancer, headaches, and do NOT have to wash our clothes the next day? Thanks for your cooperation.

Hey if the place does not survive, you could always stay home and have your own party, just think your own no smoking venue and your choice of music and you have the whole dance floor to yourself. your dreams have come true and the added bonus your living in cm.

  19. Hey Guys I am going to Vientienne on the 9th jan. This is my first time applying for a T/V. Would like to Know what i have to do Re this such as Do i need a return ticket home to show them, Do i need passport photos, What currency do they use in Vientienne. Whats the opening times and the address for the thai consulate, could you reccomend any hotels near the consulate. thanks in advance and a happy new year to you all cheers Marshall.

  20. Your options:

    1. Get a job with an employer who helps you obtain a Non Immigrant Business visa, often called a Non-B.

    2. Get married to your girlfriend and apply at a Thai embassy abroad for a Non Immigrant O (Other) visa, based on support of Thai spouse.

    3. Go back home for three months, then you can come back again.

Your girlfriend is having your baby and you haven't bothered checking this until now? You need to be a little more alert than that.

From what I understand, you can go to KL and get a single entry visa and come back without waiting 3 months (I hope). Or lots of us are up sh!t creek.

Can i get a single entry visa if i go to burma.
