  1. By emphasizing " Financial procedures " ..... the average pensioners on " fixed income " will lose and must leave the Kingdom .

ANY CRIMINAL - will be able to play with rules and come up with ANY AMOUNT REQUIRED as deposit or better , they can just buy the THAILAND ELITE CARD and live happily ever after here .

Maybe this group is the prime objective of this policy.

Those formulating this policy are out of touch with reality of how pensioners from Western Europe & North America live their lifes.

Might as well make a new regulation that each person who apply for long term stay must DEPOSIT

THB 10,000,000.- in a THAI Bank to cover possible medical emergencies  ?

Kick out all PENSIONERS on ( minimum ) fixed income .... maybe we should move to Laos & Cambodia .

But we choose Thailand - because we like it here .

  2. Somtamlao .....

How does your heart react and is it in sync with your brain ....?

10 yrs down the road - will you be happy with such a big difference in

intellectual divide , because sex only will be boring by then .

Are you taking care of her & her family financially  ?

If you don't or can't ..... then be fair - walk away ......

It all come down to " financial support " for her & her family ,

forget about the concept of " love & loyalty "

  3. Naaaahhhhh ..... if you don’t like Pattaya - please leave .

The OPEN door point North to BKK-SUV and BKK-DMK .

no need to close the door behind you .

IF and WHEN ... you find a good / better place in S.E.Asia

please let us know . give us a “ cost comparison “ and

    ” bureaucratic ease “ comparison .

Thank you for your effort ......

never try their food . Good they closed, I rather go to McDonald.

note to Coffee Club : Serve Coffee with a glass of water or tea

as mouth refresher .... whatever the correct term is .

It is not a soft drink that require non stop re-fill .

Interesting. I have the same problem.

My hobby entails purchasing small parts from around the world, usually 500 baht or so from US, Europe Eastern Block and Asian Countries. On average I have 6 to 8 parcels a month coming from all over the world. In 5 years I lost only one. Until 3 Months ago when they simply stopped arriving. I have now lost 25 packages in the last 3 months and have stopped ordering anything. Unfortunately the value is so low its not worth insuring or sending via a carrier as it makes it too expensive, so I have just given up for now.

Present situation : Do NOT expect anything of VALUE -

to arrive at your door,  naughty fingers -

would have moved them to the market for their own gain.

Make it : Registered & Insured by USPS or by COURIER if you don’t mind  the high cost , otherwise BUY LOCALLY ......

  6. NAAAAHHHHHHHHH ........ nothing wrong , here ....

lots more India and China Nationals - busy at Walking St.

but NOT spending like Europeans & North Americans .

Younger Japanese , Koreans , Taiwanese discovering this

place and they’re IT savvy - know where to go & prices .

    CHANGES  ??

Wait until next election , then you see the MAFIA showing up

their faces and strength  !!  I prefer the NAVY from Sattahip.

If you think Pattaya taxis will use meters, then you still believe in the tooth fairy and that renting a  jetski in Thailand is a good idea.

Not going to happen. Not going to be enforced. Not going to get 1 baht from me!

RENT a BLUE pickup instead ...

    In town B 150.- to B 200.-

Going out of tiwn B 250.- and up

Screw the TAXI MAFIA , They will never use METER .

If you need transportation, RENT a Blue pickup ( Songthaew ) ,

they have suffered through many episodes , yet the regular routes

    still cost Baht 10.- p/person.

    Within the CITY - charter price B. 150.- up to B 200.- / trip

Outside City Limit - charter B 250.- and up .

SUPPORT YOUR HARDWORKING BLUE pickups , although

sometimes they're a bit moody & have no smiles left .....

IF YOU HAVE TO MAKE A LIVING like them, you'll be grumpy too !

Thanks for reply. I understand the problem. I'm just a bit fed up with short timers, escorts and massage parlours. I did have a great 3 day GFE last week and would love to repeat it sometime.

    Mike

Yes Mike , but the percentage is awfully small / minuscule in Pattaya.

better make a trip to the backroads of Isaan Region .

I found a winner years ago - but Lord Buddha took her away from me

    - through CANCER  !!  and I have seen the inside track of the medical

    & hospital " business "

The bottom line is : MONEY   !!

You have it , then all is smooth , you DON'T have it : Good Luck  !!

Perhaps she should remove herself from Pattaya instead. It was there before she was born, and has more right to be there than her.

Does she realise that the so called "sleazy" side exists in every city and town in Thailand, and the Thai scene dwarfs anything relating to tourists?

Remove it all and there isn't much left to enjoy.

My lady friend working at the Coconut Bar complained about

horrible low season earnings , inundated by masses of " quality-

-tourists " who clogged the road along Beach Rd up to the PIER

at the far end of Walking St.  CLOGGING , but spend very little .....

    That is the REALITY  !!

.... and YESSSS - arrivals from India & China is up through

the ROOF ...... but look at the " For Rent " and " For Sale " signs.

the Landlords are as greedy - if not " more greedy " than ever .

They can afford it , to sit out another season .

But the poor " independent operators " have to survive on bare

minimums - being squeezed by money lenders & owners .....

  11. the COST of ANNUAL VISA through local agents , whether 19K or 13K.

compared that with the cost of EACH VISA RUN multiply by the length

of your stay . I am sure you can makeup your decision based on COST

only.  YES , the agents did not follow rules , do shortcuts , but that's

the reality - they have their own Inside Track .

Kiosk to the left of the IMM Office at Soi-5 Jomtien can assist you in

most cases plus they speak good English ..... maybe other languages too.

  12. Low Season ... yes - very quiet , been like that for months ....

expats still here at their favorite watering holes , but those catering

to " new arrivals " are crying in their Lao Khao .

Combined with the NAVY & POLICE drive to " reduce crime " , a lot of

the "exemplary citizens" who thrive on cheating tourists are really

in panic mode .  WALKING Street - still very busy 7:00pm untul

closing, lots of traffic / walk through .... Chinese & Indian & Arabs .

LOTS of walking - but do they SPEND ??

In the meantime Cost of LIVING - going higher !!

Lots of " FOR RENT " signs , but will they lower the RENT ??

You , the smart expats will know the answer .....
