Isn't the idea of an ED visa to learn the Thai language or are you saying that an English-speaker could enroll at an English-language school to "learn" English?
It would probably not work if you are from a primarily English speaking country, but it's possible to get an ED visa to study English in Thailand, yes.
By the way, ED visa is not only to learn Thai, you can get an ED visa to study many things that is taught in schools/universities. I know somebody who did his MBA here ????

But isn't there a rule that you must leave the country after one year of studying at an informal school, and start over with a new visa? I thought that was the main stumbling block.
Ah, this is not an option for OP? Sorry haven't read the whole thread ????

according to regulations i am not supposed to be able to get another ED visa because i have a total of 14months ed-visa with another language school
If you've had an ED visa to study thai before... You could apply for another ED visa to study English, or anything else for which there are ED visas.

To return to Thailand you will need a Thailand Pass. See: https://tp.consular.go.th/
I have seen nothing stating what will be needed to enter Vietnam yet.
Cambodia is already open and people have made trips to the-re already.
If Cambodia is "proven to work", then I might take my chances there. Are there any reports from people who obtained a tourist visa in cambodia here?
What immigration office where they using? Did they need to show return flights, erc.?

Can I apply for a Thailand Pass with an exempt... but enter it on a tourist visa as to safe processing time but still have the tourist visa?
Another question, do embassies still process tourist visas in one day? So I apply and pick up my passport with tourist visa the next day? Are there any additional requirements nowadays for a tourist visa or is it like before just fill out form and pay money?
Ah that reminds me, what embassy won't ask doe return flights etc. ie. is the easiest to get a tourist visa?
I know many questions but it is rather complicated!

You may want to check the new new requirements for Vietnam. They just made it a whole lot more complicated because....why not. Now I think they want 72 hours quarantine and two PCR tests. I am not sure exactly. All I know is there are all kinds of new rules now and after I heard that they changed the antigen test to a PCR test on arrival it turned into a deal breaker for me and I stopped listening and scratched Vietnam off my list.
where can I check the requirements to enter vietnam?

Thank you, one of the requirements is "Insurance with minimum coverage of 20,000 USD for medical expenses". Where would I obtain this?
Another thing is a SHA Extra+ or AQ Hotel reservation, where can I make such a reservation online?
Other than that, seems like I need to have all of these requirements ready 7 days in advance and apply for the Thailand Pass, ok.

Now that my last covid extension is expiring and even agents can't help, I thought to apply for a tourist visa in a neighboring country. I hear vietnam will open up soon?
I have not traveled since the pandemic started, been weathering out the situation in LOS, so I'm not sure what would be required for a visa run to vietnam, I am dully vaccinated though.
My current extension expires on March 18, ideally I want to fly to Vietnam or another neighboring country, apply for a tourist visa over there, and come back to Thailand all in a timely fashion.
I am currently not sure what I need to accomplish this. Insurance, quarantine, etc. ?
Any advice on what I should get done now is highly appreciated as I need to leave in about 2 weeks. Thanks

I'm pretty sure that's not the case.
I've read it several times and also my local office in Samut Prakan told me so, still for OP it should be fine to apply in the coming days.

Which immigration office is accepting 45 days in advance for covid extensions? I heard that rule is 30 days for covid extensions but reality is much different. Jomtien immigration didn't allow me to apply two weeks in advance.
I'm pretty sure the rule is 45 days, IOs following that rule or not is a different matter.

That is for annual extensions and then that's only at some immigration offices.
Nope, 60 days covid extensions.

No reason why you would not be issued another covid extension.
Seems like immigration does not need a reason to turn people away after the latest announcement. See this thread:
-
you can apply 45 days in advance, first covid extension was given from the date you apply, following extensions were added in top of your current expiration date.
But with the latest changes I would not expect to get another covid extension from immigration.

different IOs handle things differently, but in this case I don't think it would make a difference.

yes, i am. the date on my stamp was the 11th this month... i know i'll have to pay the fine, i'm just not sure about anything else that i'll need besides that. since i have to do two things...
you know it's 500 baht per day, right?

I have to say that I've been using this agent for a while now and they always came through with covid extensions, it is quite a shock that they are not able to do it anymore... I hope that there will still be other agents who can still do a covid extension at a reasonable price (~7k THB)
-
no, no people, what I meant is that their immigration office has suspended issuing covid extensions to their clients that don't meet new regulations. Hopefully there are still other agents who can ????
-
my agent just informed me that immigration has suspended covid extensions.

This confused me mightily during my Covid visa application.
I "can" go back to the US even as Covid is ongoing. I am a citizen and have that right. I expect most other nationals can also go back to their own country if/when they choose, during the Pandemic. "Everyone including our citizens may not enter" seems a rare policy.
So how exactly are you guys making a case to stay based on "Covid"?
I wrote a generic answer about the US Covid situation and it was good enough for the visa at least that time. I would like to be better prepared for next time.
Not everybody can. Covid extension is for those who can't. Ofcourse many are using this system to stay in thailand without applying for a "real visa".

Couldn't tell you as I was not able to obtain there one ???? I was sent away because I was lacking some document, and when I said that my extension is running out soon and I don't have enough time to get that document, he shrugged and said I can apply 45 days in advance.
