  1. bangkok air pollution difficult to tackle, one reason being online purchase and food order so popular and motorbikes inevitably used for the transport, others push the blame to cambodia farmers burning the crops? and even burning incense sticks in temples recently hanoi, vietnam is thinking about motorbike ban in certain districts too by 2025, should thailand follow? https://e.vnexpress.net /news/news/hanoi-to -evaluate-motorbike
  2. it seems bangkok air quality is deteriorating recently, even worse than CM? it needs ufgent attsntion to attract tourist and wealthy retirees

  4. perhaps some creative or unconventional thinking is urgently needed to solve this persisting aggravating problem of air quslity and pm2.5?! assuming that the culprit is external, for example, from cambodia, it is right step for thailand to liaise with cambodia govt to jointly solve the problem but also good to request thai friendly china govt to help, exerting some pressure on cambodia to do better? secondly, assume we can't do much to reduce external pollution source, couldn't we do more INSIDE thailand to push for more EV to replace gasoline vehicles by subsidy or increase import tax for the traditional vehicles, or bring forward European new standard sooner, or use multipronged approach? improved air quality could attract more wealthy guys and elderly retirees ?
  5. thai govt should require every tourists to buy health insurance or contribute to a broad fund set up by the govt for this purpose. There are always news that Thai public health system spent too much on foreigners or default withouT settling the bill after treatment. which led to immigration required OA retirees to buy mandatory health insurance, however, the particular case in nov 2023 of a british man, tourist, suffered from leukemia and unable to settle Thai hospital bill of about 10000 british pound sterling (reported in bangkokpost and thaiger)shows that mandatory insurance for retirees simplily could not help govt to reduce public health expense, but the retirees suffer due to extremely high insurance fee (comes with old age) and the exclusion on pre conditions and all illness that may arise from pre conditions, but are retirees more susceptible to the latter illness than other new medical problems, for example, if common healtH priblems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and chlestrol are all excluded from protection, maybe the health insurance only useful for some cancers such as lung cancer or PSA problem?

  7. japanese food and restaurants are very popular in thailand, now that japan going to release treated nuclear water into the sea, will there be any special mechanism set up in place in thailand to step up screening and testing of japanese food, seafood and dry stuff for safe public consumption? and regular news update by the health authority? if there is clear labelling or statements announced by restaurants on whether foods are imported from japan, it helps consumers to make informed decisions. According to an Associated Press report dated 6 July, clean water, not the nuclear water, are used by TEPCO(tokyo electric company) for various tests to prepare release into ocean, so it is likely IAEA examined only the system, equipment and procedure in place to be used by TEPCO to purify BUT not the end product, ie the nuclear water to be released into ocean. As such, IAEA is making a very bold statement to certify japan to carry out the water discharge ✔ in any case, it seems better eat or drink fewer japan products once nuclear.water released into ocean. Not easy as there are too many including seafood, and dry food like chocolate, potatochips, candies, fruits, vegetables, mushrooms and softdrinks, even ramen, oysters, scallops, sushi, salmon In short, i am still not convinced of the alleged level of japan food safety, and possible human error (deliberate or negligence)in administering/operating the plan, over 30+year on going non stop nuclear water release into ocean The following is noteworthy, my comments in bracket: The IAEA report alleged that the approach and activities of the water discharge are consistent with international standard (which is actually IAEA own standard), and the treated water have negligible radioactive impact on human (meaning there is still some impact), the treated water remove almost all radioactivity, except tritium (ie there is still radioactive residual in water)
  8. i know that first time, hou have to report in person, also once you delayed and get fined, you can't do online anymore, as they don't amend your record
  9. what if not staying at hotel but staying at my own bought condo at renewal time (of retirement O visa)? how to prove residence? appreciate your advice
  10. not sure if correct, i read from other post that entering thailand with visa exempt, can not change to O type retire visa, true or false?
  11. hopefully in order to attract more wealthy people coming to retire or invest, air quality, drinking water quality, and the problem of big flood or public drainage can be further improved
  12. actually there are other air quality apps which canbe download and show real time the current pollution level, so there is no need to argue which city doing better or how inaccurate the index is. Avoiding pollution is something easier said than done as people or country by nature is selfish. We are livjng in an ygly world. It is simply simple and naive to think that if people doing more, be more self restrauned, pollution will go away
  13. if one has spare time and does not mind waiting long, best option is to go to see public hospital doctor as the cost is unbelivably low. for private hospital, it seems the various tests recommended and medical pills charged by private hospitals will cost and surprise you more than simply the doctor consultation fee.
  14. i read sometime ago that mandatory health insurance was introduced suddenly in 2019 as 'many expats defrauded medical bills'. but i doubted the rationale of this strange policy. why not simplily blacklisted them for visa renewal if they are long term retirees/residents or asked for deposit before offering service? if they willing to queue and visited goverent hospitals, the medical cost is too low and govt simplily can not recover the cost with reimbursement from insurance
  15. but why thai immigration use USD to prescribe their requirement in their rules and regulation, and NOT in thai bahts?what if thai baht appreciates against the USD, will they reduced the 3 million baht owing to exchange rate?
