Apart from Nth Korea, is there any other country in the world, that hotels must report foreigners staying there to immigration? or even ones Family members staying with you on holiday?
Another reason for us all to vote with our feet.

too busy with handling VIPs I suppose..... Why can other countries, manage to have less problems at the immigration...Computersystems, enough staff, and less administration?? Everytime, facepicture here, fingerprints, double check passports, and boardingpasses for foreigners, as for Thai passports it is much easier to enter
I've gone thru a VIP (biz class) booth recently (last week) and IO there was still super-rude to me. Now, I don't expect special treatment on account of being in that line -- I'm just saying, the IO rudeness happens to biz class people too.

His statements about the way Immigration officers at the airport behaved. I don't know about you but in over twenty years here I've never experienced anything like that, nor have I ever seen it of heard of it before yet he says he's experienced it several times...have you?
Experienced firsthand by markclover and rose33; also reported in the Thai press.
An appropriately humble response might be "I stand corrected".

When I lived in Australia, I usually felt I was surrounded by good men in my family and workplace. So, I had always assumed that 'misogyny' was fake, and an invention of the woke / feminist agendas.
Unfortunately, living in Thailand long-term and observing SOME OF the farang men here (observing & chatting with them in public, at private social events, and reading a lot of Stickman Bangkok etc), I've had to change my opinion and sadly acknowledge that woman-hating is alive and well today.
Perhaps a good topic for a fresh post here would be something along the lines of:
"Does LOS attract farang misogynists, or does LOS convert (some) farang into misogynists?"
OF COURSE I don't intend to include ALL farang men. There are plenty of good guys living here too ????.

You're straight up calling him a liar, simply because his perceived experience is different to your perceived experience?

And what about the shop owners who treat the sidewalk as if it's their property? They cover it with boxes, bikes and crates, forcing pedestrians onto the road, or in parts, into the yawning chasms where the road used to be.
A lot of Thailand looks like a junkyard.

When I meet Thai people on my walking exercise they say Sawadee Kap
With a smile I do the same ????
Same when I meet Thai people in general always greet me with a smile ????
No one here is claiming it's difficult to get a surface smile out of a Thai.

I once had a friend that said he didn't like threesomes because it was too hard to satisfy both of them. Not a problem when guys are in it for themselves and <deleted> worrying about their satisfaction.
If anyone missed it that's why Thai bargirls are brilliant- it's all about the guy. They can get all the lovin' they want from their boyfriends, but their work is to satisfy the customer.
I heard western prostitutes were better. They try harder and take more time with it.
I heard Thai bargirls just want to get it over with ASAP and back making more money? (Because they are poorer).
Are both of the above stereotypes, & in every case YMMV?

those men are working towards something bigger, broader & nobler than just arranging the orgasm schedule of their own penis.
Sadly I don't know of any such in these dark days of social media driven, IMO, insanity. I know there used to be such, but they were from a previous age.
Yeah, I hear you. I agree it is becoming very rare.
But is that a reason to join a race to the bottom?
(Pun intended ;-) ).
Who is nobler: the ancestors who build something great, or the descendants who have the grit & humility to rebuild it out of smouldering ruins?

Up in Buriram (near Phanom Rung) they actually have a road sign that reds "Rahansai"...................L's and R's are not their strong suit.
I also like the 'Rabyrinth' sign for the hedge maze at one of the big parks in Thailand's second city...
(Although when I think how much I struggle with all of their tones and vowels, I don't want to be too critical if my Rs and Ls sound similar to their ears...)

I always side with a slick website, contemporary design and smart-sounding words, over the time-tested values that my ancestors were willing to fight and die for.

What you personally think or what your morality dictates doesn't (and shouldn't) have any bearing on what is and should always be a medical matter.

I just don't get the obsession.
I virtually never think about gay people unless The Village People are playing on the radio.
Full disclosure: The Indian Guy used to be my neighbor. Even then, I just thought of him as The Indian Guy.
If it were The Leatherman? Possibly a different outcome for me. The Construction Worker? Call that one a draw.
Trans-wise, the equilivent would be Caitlin Jenner (or whoever). I would defend his/her (whatever) right to be that way, but I would go out of my way to not ever think about him/her with his/her clothes off.
People here who worry constantly about what these people are doing or might do are a mystery to me. You would have to actively seek them out to have any involvement with them at all.
The Indian Guy? A little stand offish, to be honest. Tho during 9/11, he did know a guy to call up to buy pot from.
Unless it's a ladyboy reach around scenario, as has been delightfully explored here a few times, I think it's deranged to give trans people even a passing thought, let alone worrying about if they're going to ruin society.

Agreed. They aren't mature enough to make life-changing decisions. They certainly aren't mature enough to take criminal responsibility and of course they shouldn't drink or smoke. But when it comes to mental health issues, there are experts to decide what is best for the child and to recommend the appropriate action.
As I have said to you already, no child is making these decisions unilaterally; the legal guardians are involved and there are qualified experts who work out the appropriate treatment, which in some extreme cases is puberty blockers.
One more time; it's a medical issue.
I am glad that I don't need to think about moral issues for myself, nor do I need take on the burden of pondering the moral direction of the society I live in, because there are mental health experts and qualified medical experts who can do all of the thinking and deciding for me.
I am going to ignore all of the accumulated wisdom of humanity, like art, literature, philosophy and moral writings.
(Anyone up for a book burning/deleting/censoring event?)
Thank you. You have freed up so much time and energy that I can now spend on Instagram and in the Metaverse. I feel liberated & guiltless. Pass the gimp suit. Lube me up. I am free.

My guess is fertility rates in N. America, EU and East Asia are plummeting. Many countries already offer substantial tax benefits for having children.
If western governments are promoting a green agenda, i.e., taxing petrol cars, plane travel, etc, then surely, following the same logic, there should be a tax benefit to those NOT becoming parents during their fertile years.
(The No Baby Bonus)
Slightly unequal outcomes, though, as women would get paid out at proven menopause, whereas men could only receive posthumously (and, by definition, would have no offspring to inherit). Perhaps could roll over the income tax credits and donate to a charity organisation of their choice.
A further benefit of reducing the birth rate in the west, would be more housing and opportunities for new migrants.
Note that a carbon tax should not be imposed on population growth caused by net immigration, as that would be racist / exploitative.

The final part sounds similar to the 'sawat' is sawatdee ka/krup.
Elsewhere, I heard that 'sawatdee' means 'i am giving a little piece of happiness to you'. Can this be confirmed?
Thanks all ????

So slipping the pink oboe up his jacksie was just an accident then? ????
When he did hit his 30s, I wonder how interested the straight women were in his STD-infected penis...
Guys who go gay/bi in their 20s never consider that, purely for health reasons, straight women might want NOTHING to do with them in future.

Against the white people now ???? How ignorant isn't that? What we as white people experience in Thailand is zero compared to others, if you are not thin skinned and easy offended.
Yes we are white and different, and many have no respect at all about Thai or their culture, so what to expect? Respect ? Respect you have to earn!
Racism, never experienced against me, but nationalism and protectionism I have experienced as married paying for land and houses, and visiting their parks, as well living here and have to report every 90 days if stying longer than 90 days and have retirement visa ot marriage visa.
White people experiences is based on their actions, not because of race.

I get the impression you haven't lived here and are basically a long term tourist visitor, right?
Cos if you had lived here long term, you'd know Thais are as racist and bigoted as they come: they particularly distain blacks, Indians, Middle Easterns, Laotians, Cambodians, Muslims (even their own), and to a lesser extent whites -- but we are still just farang and never equal to them in their minds.
Even mixed race Thai children are viewed as not equal to thoroughbred Thais.
The only foreigners they actually respect are Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.
And Thailand is a lot more conservative that republicans in America. Also, as someone has already pointed out the woke people in the West are displaying fascist traits and are ironically worse than the MAGA crowd.
The racism against white people here is a big reason that I decided to leave.
