If you have a non O retirement extension obtained in Thailand then my understanding is that you can just buy a new 30 day insurance policy each time you return to Thailand and that will suffice.

My understanding from what I have read in prior comments is if you already have a visa then a 1 way ticket is acceptable.    In my case I booked a 1 way ticket but am planning to arrive visa exempt which only allows me a 30 day stay so you have to have a return ticket that falls within the 30 day window.  I had previously incorrectly booked a 31 day ticket to throwaway as didn’t realize that the arrival and departure date are both counted as full days.  I have since changed the flight to fall within this window and as the thai pass insurance is for 30 days and they asked on my insurance application for a departure as well as arrival date I was trying to figure out whether the thai pass also count the arrival date and departure date as part of there 30 day window.   I guess they do but was just asking the question. If I plan to arrive visa exempt on March 9 with an onward (throwaway) flight ticket booked for April 7.   If you count the arrival and departure date equals 30 days.   When applying for the thai pass do I put this or Apr 8 just to make sure it covers the whole trip duration.  Will convert to a non o retirement anyway but just ticking the boxes for applying for the thai pass.  Thank you

Thanks for your comments and will bear that in mind.   If I book via rent a ticket at the airport (if required) then I presume I can just show there confirmed booking on my phone?  There won’t be any where to print it out at that point but I note there policy is to issue a ticket valid for 48 hours so I guess that’s the way to do it. 

Ok, if the airline will accept it then that’s fine.   I think if Immigration ask me about it I’ll just explain I will be converting to a retirement O visa and show them proof of funds in a thai bank.  Thanks for clarifying.

I just counted the days using a calendar and If they count the arrival and departure date as well then it is technically 31 days ????

I used a date calculator to and it also said it was 30 days.  I guess no need to change anything then?

Dr Jack, if I have an onward flight technically 31 days after my arrival can the airline refuse this as it’s not within 30 days.   Just checked and it’s cheaper to book a new flight than change the date.    My other option I guess it the throwaway ticket as a backup for $12.  Thanks.

Thanks for the comments.  The within 30 days part for visa exempt if I arrive visa exempt on March 9 and have a confirmed (one way) ticket to Singapore on April 8 this is on the 30th day.  Does this suffice?

Thank you for the comments.  Dr Jack, my preference is to just book a cheap flight out of Thailand 30 days after my arrival.  I also note in one of the comments above that this may also be required to validate my thai pass.  Should I therefore upload my return flight information with the thai pass application as well?   Thank you.

Am planning to enter as visa exempt for 30 days then apply for O retirement visa.   As am planning to not have any need to return to HK for at least a few years is it ok to just book a one way ticket as if I book less than a year I won’t plan on using the return portion so seems a waste.  Do I have to have a return flight to enter visa exempt?  Thanks.

I have a condo in Thailand so could put this as my permanent address once I leave hk.  However I was under the impression it had to be an address outside of Thailand.   Is this incorrect?  Thank you.
