If you are applying for your first extension after entering the country with a new visa then you would need to show at least a receipt for one.

Is it best to do the TM30 report in person at CW assuming this is where I will apply for the Retirement O during my initial 30 day exempt?  I read previously someone mentioned doing the report elsewhere but the application for the visa a CW but would prefer to do at CW if that’s an option?

  2. Thank you for clarifying.  Also if I enter via test and go (30 day visa exempt) and choose to just stay at the same hotel from day 1 to day 5, I presume that the hotel will then do the TM30 requirements for this period.  I would then only be required to file a TM30 myself after I arrive at my condo to stay there from day 6 onwards.  Is this understanding correct?

  3. I am planning to wire sufficient funds to cover the THB800,000 and to cover some living expenses from my HSBC account in Hong Kong to Kaisakorn Bank.  Previously I have sent THB which I converted from my local currency before sending to them however I have read that it may be required to show that this was a Foreign Exchange Transfer for the visa application.   I am therefore planning to do a Swift wire transfer to K bank from HSBC in USD and would like K bank to do the foreign exchange conversion so I can then obtain proof of a FET if required.   Does anyone know if it matters whether I send THB or USD for this? Also if I send USD does anyone have experience in sending USD to K bank and know if they use a correspondent bank for this or will they accept a direct transfer in USD from my HSBC account and just automatically convert into THB.  I plan on sending more than the required THB 800,000 equivalent and just want to ensure it arrives there ok.  Thank you.

  4. If when applying for the O retirement visa using your own condominium as address proof as indicated by the title deed.  Given that this has my current passport number on it.  What happens with future renewals of the visa if my UK passport has to be replaced due to it expiring.  Do I need to do anything regarding updating my passport details on my condo title deed or not?  Thank you.

  5. If I enter on a 30 day visa exempt and plan to then apply for a non O retirement visa, if I plan to stay at my condo can I apply for the TM30 on the same day as the non O visa.   Am wondering if I only need to fill in a TM30 any day prior to the day of application?   I ask as it seems it can be submitted the same day of the visa application if I decide to just use an agent is this correct?

  6. Thank you for the clarification.  I don’t have a Wise account setup and would be a bit apprehensive transferring a large amount via this method as am not familiar with it.  My intention is therefore to just do a wire transfer from my Hong Kong bank account and ask the local Thai bank for confirmation that the funds arrived from abroad when I visit the bank.   Presumably aside from the higher fees this is acceptable too?

  7. Am planning to apply for an O-retirement visa shortly after arriving in Bangkok.  I already have a thai bank account and will have transferred sufficient to cover the THB800,000 plus some living expenses prior to my arrival.    I understand that I need to obtain 2 documents from my thai bank.  The first being proof that funds originated from overseas and the second being a bank guarantee letter.   Also I read that these documents need to be dated the same date of my O-Visa application at Immigration.    Given I also have a bank book can I get the confirmation letter that funds originated from overseas a few days before going to immigration as am not sure that the bank will give me this on the same day I request it.   If I then need to show funds in my account on the day of application could I just make a token withdrawal via the ATM and then have my bank book updated as proof of funds instead of trying to obtain a bank guarantee letter?   If the bank guarantee letter is still required can this be obtained a few days before attending immigration as long as I bring my updated bank book as well?  Thank you.
