Where do straight people retire? Covered in hundreds / thousands of posts, global.
So why no 'Where do gay people retire / where do blonde haired men retire'. etc., etc.
Exactly my point, which you seem to have missed.
Nevermind...

So this has never come up before in the years and years (decades) that this proposal has been regurgitated?
Don't be silly, that would require some form of planning and preparation.

Sorry but I have posted multiple times that I have no plans to ever leave Thailand.
However I am very interested in Plan B alternatives both in other countries and in the US.

This will thin out the number of applicants a bit.
No longer the stand out place for visa applications if you live in Bangkok or further away.
Exactly, looks like going back to extensions then in my case which is something i'd much rather not deal with.

Another PITA.
This will just lead to more people leaving and more people overstaying....

It's not bizarre at all.

And there's another cretin that should not be allowed to live any longer.
Are these horrible crimes becoming more common of late, many of them also seem to be between family members, what about Thai rak Thai?

IMO we are doomed, but most don't want to admit it.
You sound like a barrel of laughs....

Aren't those machetes mainly used for work in the fields and forests and not as weapons ?
I would assume mostly all machetes are used for some type of work but after a few rice whiskey's it's quite obvious to see what some people use them for.

one more and we'll have a grand slam of these incidents in a day, quite impressive.

Of course carrying a knife before you go see someone looks like pre-meditated murder, but so many carry weapons here it seems it's looked at as normal. The lack of concern and non respect of life itself is yet another reason I don't want my daughter growing up here. We see this daily, and probably are not seeing but a pinprick of what happens countrywide daily here. Most everywhere I go, I see women carrying sticks to keep their kids in line, which is abuse but seems it's another thing that's looked at as normal, because it's been the discipline method for generations. I only wish for the generations of children to come here, that people are taught that this is wrong behavior and there are better ways to discipline and react to confrontations.
In rural Thailand almost everyone has bush knives ( machetes ), in cars on bikes or on their person, everywhere they go.
It's staggering how many stories there has been like this lately tho.

Knew a guy in Chiang Mai, from Austria, never smoked drinked or did girls, lived here since many years though. I always felt sorry for him; he lived such a boring life, never enjoying a single thing, but apparently so healthy.
Guess what happened? No joke here. He was like late 30s or early 40s, collapsed at Central festival chiang mai + death on the spot. I guess except for a small circle nobody even knows today he died, because he was such a boring person. To then take in mind that he worried about health all the time.
Totally agree, when the big man calls it's time to go.
Make the most of each and every day.
