    Have you recently been in Pai? Have you seen what's going on there? They lost control of the village. A huge number of tourists are lining the pockets of hotel and restaurant owners, who are mostly Thais originally from the south, Bangkok or Chiang Mai, who have very little interest in things going back to normal.

    If you have a re-entry permit and, for any reason, want to start new all over again, you have to leave the country and come back (visa exempt) the day after your permission to stay expires, correct? For example, if my permission to stay expires on Dec 12th, I leave on 12th and come back on Dec 13th or later, right? If I come back on Dec12th, will my re-entry permit still be valid?

    Thanks for your reply. I'll tell you more. The three agencies in Chiang Mai told me that changing visa will cost me 20,000 baht even if I have the required funds. I was like . . .wow that should cost 2000 baht, I said what if I apply in person? They said you can do it, but immigration will give you a hard time.

    From visa exempt to NON-O retirement, I already have the required money in the bank. The two agencies told me that I must enter the Kingdom by flying in or my request of visa change won't be accepted by CM Immigration.
