Just had a claim and they were great. Rep showed up immediately, was very professional and took care of everything.

I went through them as well but originally asked to see a couple of different policies to compare. AA were able (eventually) to send me the policy details electronically so I could try and see what i was actually getting. Ended up with one from a New Zealand co. but read the policies from AXA and a Thai company as well.

Can anyone recommend a good home and contents insurance company in Thailand.

I was trying to renew my existing policy and asked for increased insurance values, (based on market prices) for two specified items, but they advise me that for "high value" items they will not insure for the full replacement value.

Gosh, this seems to be proving more difficult than I thought. I thought there would be ringing endorsements from those on TV who have previously raved about The Sukhothai Residences, (but then again, judging by the number of lights on at night I don't think many people live there), The Met, Park Chidlom etc etc for the new category, and the usual suspects for the older category, such as Somkid Garden, Sathorn Park Place. But maybe the market is just too saturated.

Can anyone recommend the top 5-10:

1) new (under 5 years)

2) older (10 or more years)

condos in Bangkok, and why they think so.

My criteria for "top" quality includes:

1) good management (such as by Savills, CBRE etc)

2) no domination by a particular family/faction on the committee

3) well decorated, maintained

4) 20m swimming pool

5) easy access to transport, (taxis)

6) good views from high floors

I rented a service apartment there 10 years ago. It's a good enough property, but not "top drawer". That said, I was new to Thailand and did not know the alternatives then. Good swimming pools and gym facilities. It may have been revamped in the interim. As to being a "good investment", I think there is no such thing in the secondary market here.

to be fair the Pitak Siam gathering was much more dangerous to the government and therefore Thailand, which meant the RTP had to do something 50,000 man strong with razorbladewire, teargas, etc., etc. This peaceful UDD led gathering is only effecting a commercial centre, nothing serious.

But why should they close down a commercial centre? Personally I don't partake of the national weekend hobby of mall visiting, but many do.

Thanks. I rang them and went to their office/store on 3rd floor Silom Galleria, and bought their spray. They have a whole product line, and are still developing it. But it will probably replace all other foreign brands in Thai supermarkets in due course, starting with the Central group.

I just tried the spray, but I think it's more suited to jewellery cleaning, and it didn't work particularly well on Georgian salts.

BRASSO, seen it in Tesco and Big C. Even the Ma and Pa harware store in the small town near where I live has it. Don't know why since the norm is plastic bags of food and plastic spoons and forks!

No shit. Motocys routinely go through red lights at the pedestrian crossings on major roads like Sathorn, and you have to have your wits about you when trying to cross on foot.
